I am searching for two transistors to use on the glareshield dimmer.  The part is a Delco 2N3079.  I have scoured the internet and have been unable to find a replacement.  Does anyone know of a supplier that carries these, or of an alternate part number that can be used as a replacement?

I will check with American.  $450 is a bit more of a tab than I was looking at to get the lights to dim again...

In our case the lights were out cold.

we used these and soldered them to the wires, and screwed them to the metal inside as a heat sink.  http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/ON-Semiconductor/MJH11020G/?qs=%2fha2pyFadugdynM374%2f%2bCq7N6bqnSsGwghLdQHrB59ZdBqo9E6RF1Q%3d%3d

Thanks everyone for the help.  I ordered some yesterday.  The new ones, referenced above, appear a bit different because there is no screw out of the bottom of the transistor like on the original.  It will take a bit of work to get it fit into place.
