bonal Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 Another damn fire here at home the last two went close to 100K acres this one puts a TFR that covers 1o2 I called the number provided and actually got to speak to a person to see if there were any clearances available but he said no. I I'm grounded for the time being I hope they get this one out quick it's in a real rough area. The guy I spoke with was very polite. Quote

bonal Posted August 23, 2015 Author Report Posted August 23, 2015 Ron just called to say he was able to get in to Lampson and it looked like they had this fire knocked down glad he got in but was looking forward to help out a Mooney Spacer Quote
bonal Posted August 25, 2015 Author Report Posted August 25, 2015 Just an FYI for any one that might be heading to K1o2 for LASAR appointment. Cal Fire has parked a Sikorski Twin rotor at the west end (approach end) of 10 for the next several days they are monitoring 122.8 and are not closing the field but you will have to use 28 arrivals and 10 departures with an A3 entry and a back taxi to the 10 end for the departure. be sure to check the NOTAMS for current conditions Quote
bonal Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 Man this is getting old. There now is a huge break out in the Butte fire in Amador county where we just were and as of a couple hours ago another angry fire has broken out way too close to home. Winds are really blowing and so far pushing S/E and we are more north east lots of evacuations. I am getting so sick of this F...ing summer. Quote
bonal Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 So our neighborhood is under mandatory evacuation but we're holding out. All packed and ready to run if need be. There is zero wind and as far as I can tell the fire is moving away but very smokey so I can't recon as far as I would like. I think most every one has bugged out. No sign of air attack any where close another clue it's moving away. Quote
mike_elliott Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) looks like you need one of these like we had at Albert Witting yesterday KSPG Edited September 13, 2015 by mike_elliott 1 Quote
bonal Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 Looking on fore flight the TFR doesn't even cover our house. Sure would be nice to get some rain. Quote

bonal Posted September 13, 2015 Author Report Posted September 13, 2015 Good luck and be safe. thank you.were just waiting it out. The power is still on and that's a good sign since I work for the power co and know where the sub is and how the circuit runs. Still no wind but also no progress on the fire. They say it's too smokey for air attack perhaps the helicopter guys are getting in. Fingers crossed. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 Good luck. Don't wait to long too long to enact plan A. As usual have plan B ready to deploy as well. -a- 1 Quote
Andy95W Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 Update? Are you still doing okay? How about the guys at LASAR? Quote
bonal Posted September 15, 2015 Author Report Posted September 15, 2015 Update? Are you still doing okay? How about the guys at LASAR? doing OK we are still under evac but we never left I had to go back into work and am working 16 hour shifts for our restoration hundreds of poles and equipment destroyed. Lake Aero is at no risk but I don't know if any of them lost property. We might get some rain today or tomorrow. Pray for continued calm as it's made a big difference. Lots of homes destroyed but also many that were not that have no power. That's my job. Quote

It is one thing in a really cold winter to throw another log on the fire to stay warm, quite another to remove a burning log from the fire. Stay safe! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1 Quote
bonal Posted September 19, 2015 Author Report Posted September 19, 2015 This fire was devastating in its destruction so many homes destroyed including my friend and CFI's and his sons. Lampson field is closed I don't know if any flights in or out can be arranged there is contact info posted on the notam. Been working 16 hour shifts on the restoration of our facilities but needed a break so they let me come home for a couple days. We have the same situation in Amador county on another big fire. Hopefully things will begin to improve. The valley fire is out but they are still keeping people out. My thoughts and prayers go out to all that have suffered losses Quote
bonal Posted September 21, 2015 Author Report Posted September 21, 2015 (edited) The second pic was taken by a Mooney pilot named Alex that was posted in an article with the daily AOPA e-news letter showing the Amador county fire. The first pic is of me and some of my fellow employees for the recovery effort in Lake county. Edited September 21, 2015 by bonal Quote
