Looking for advice, opinions or experience on Child's headsets.

My Co-Pilot just turned 6, He tends to be a little noise sensitive.

I'm in need of getting new headsets anyway. Any recommendations for a child's ANR sets??

 Thanks

My 4 year old uses a Bose Quiet Comfort 2 (or is it 15?) headset with a uflymike microphone setup.  It works really well and is light weight compared to aviation headsets and noise cancelling for a lot less.  Unfortunately uflymike is re-engineering their setup so you currently can't purchase any at this time.  They are hoping to start pre-orders this month, but they have been saying that for a few months now.

The regular Bose Quiet Comfort headphones weren't designed for general aviation noise levels. They don't provide as much noise attenuation as the aviation specific headsets.

No the Bose QC15 is not designed for general aviation.  But I have found that they work much better than a full size aviation Bose, when it keeps falling off the child's head.

I set my daughter up with the QC15 and the Uflymike three years ago and it has worked very well.  Very light and noise canceling is excellent. If I was to compare it to the full size Bose or Zulu 2, I would say it performs at 95%.  Only negative thing to keep in mind is if the battery dies, headset become inoperative.  Keep a spare battery handy and it is a non issue.  Hope this helps!

There are other brands of aviation headsets that will provide better hearing protection than the Bose QC and can be adjusted to fit a child's head. David Clark even makes a smaller headpiece that you can mount on their headsets.

My kids have been using David Clark ANR headsets since they were about 4. The fit is good even on small heads and the combined passive and active noise reduction is appropriate for the noise levels.
