I'm not finding the link for the upgrade path for my a20's

Not sure if you found this already.

You have to call the aviation desk @ (800) 233-4416. They are honoring through August 8th. I have to call them back tomorrow because i didn't have the headset in front of me. They need the S/N

They will ship you the updated cable for $295.95. Then you send back your old cable, and when they receive it, they will refund you $145.95.

Supposedly goes up to $300 after August 8.

Gee thanks Bose.  I found out about the upgrade path and the phone number on here last Saturday.  So I called right then but they were closed.  So I called Monday, and they said "too late".  But they said they would be happy to sell me a new unit at full price.  Gee thanks Bose.

He's going to be late there as well....

Something about an EAA show, maybe?

Halos are worth waiting for...

A good reason to plan on attending AirVenture next year.  There are always some surprise deals--most of them very good.  I think I was in the MAPA tent when someone came in angry that he'd just bought an A20 a month earlier and Bose required an invoice to give him the upgrade.  He'd have to find the receipt at home.  I immediately went into the Bose tent with one pair of my A20s and immediately got one upgraded right there for ½ price.  The other was in the plane in Madison, so I paid full bore for another one when they gave me an RMA to return the cable from the one in the airplane.  When I got back to Madison I packed the old cable into the new cable's box and shipped it Fed EX back to Bose.  I had my 50% rebate on the credit card by the time I got back home.

I was there....  There was too much going on to see all the possible deals.

After 17 straight years of attending, I always check with vendors whose products I have to see if they have anything new that I am interested in.  This year I saw the new system 6.0 Garmin will be coming out with in a couple of months for the GTNs, I was surprised to see the new ESI 500 and immediately wanted one, and finally saw and played with the GMA 350C audio panel and will be upgrading my GMA 35 to the 35C.  Obviously the problem is that you want all the new stuff.  :)

Bose headsets, in my opinion, have better audio quality than any other brand I have tried (admittedly, I have not tried too many). However, I bought a set of David Clark's back in the dark ages. After I replaced the ear covers with memory foam ones, "un-bent" the top band to relieve the clamp pressure, and installed Headsets, Inc. ANR units, I am quite satisfied with them. Especially since I am a CB and considering the cost of the Boses.

I also have a Clark 13.2 that I'd love to "unbend" Don! I put the Headsets Inc. ANR in them and work great. Only problem is they're useless because they give you a headache after about 10 minutes!

I can wear my Bose all day and forget I have them on.

How do you unbend them without making them not fit and ruining them?

It was my first Oshkosh - I've been flying for 8 years but first time I actually went - I went with my son who is 17 and a budding aero major so it seemed like a really fun thing to do.

But I missed the Bose deal.  To tell you the truth - I am pretty annoyed that the Bose does not do what I wanted it to do in the first place and I presumed it would - when I got this bluetooth headset, I presumed it would talk to my ipad and so I could receive those aural warnings from my garmin pilot app through the blue tooth.  Now they want to sell me at full price a new unit to do what the old unit should have done in the first place.

Now I am thinking of switching brands if I am spending full price anyway - has anyone tried the clark pro x?  Does it offer sufficient quiet in a piston cockpit?  I love the size and form and foldability.  I have worn one at the vendors stand, but never in the airplane.  And dos it allow blue tooth streaming?

Erik, I have tried all 4 brands ( bose, Lightspeed, David Clark and halo ) for several flights each and I would have to say that LightSpeed is my favorite, the fact how it covers your ear and quality of the product, specially in our Rockets that are quite loud with that bigbore engine in front. I used the Halo for alomst a year in C172 and Sundowner, they are great for non ANR, but they are a pain in winter...

I kind of regret that I got 1 Bose A20 in exchange at Osh, I should have gotten 2 Lightspeed Zullu PFX, they are top quality...I now use the PFX as my primary and Zulu 2 as my secondary, the bose A20 for passengers....

Ah - yes, I forgot - the halo's are simply painful in the winter - nothing like sticking a -20F hard as a rock foamy in your ear and hoping the ear will warm it up!

Did you try the David Clark's newest model the pro x?  What does that sound like in the noisy rocket?

I am this close to getting some other all new headset...and the here you go we fix our bug, too bad for you, pay full price of Bose...I'm almost ready to switch.  I mean seriously - when I got the A20 they said bluetooth, they didn't say it won't bluetooth stream - I was very annoyed.  I was insulted, more than the actual cost of fixing at full price what they didn't get right in the first place.  I had a Lightspeed 3G for a long time and I loved the lightspeed customer service.

I am also thinking of getting a lightspeed zulu 2 on ebay - do they allow continuous bluetooth streaming?

Or the clark - do they give enough hearing protection and do they allow bluetooth streaming?

I feel confident that, if you talked to another Bose person or asked to speak to a supervisor and told him you were at Oshkosh, but that they didn't promote the conversion, that you are a long time Bose customer and love the product, that they would relent and give you the discount.  Try it.

Let's see if I can help you Professor.

I have a pair of the LS Zulus (not 2 version). I can stream my iPad Garmin Pilot output to it through Bluetooth. I don't do it often because it is a separate step to remember to turn on the Bluetooth. But when I do, it works.

As for the Halos. There is a new softer foam that he sells that I bought before last winter and flew with. They work unlike the beige or yellow ones. Here is the link: http://www.quiettechnologies.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=66_60_61&product_id=53

Now you got me thinking. I'm going to try to connect my iPad to my PS Engineering 8000BT and see if that will work. I have my cell phone connected so I can call clearance delivery and stream music. I know it can interface with more than one device at a time. Got to give it a try.

It is still clipping off my comments.

I said: The spring steel head band on the DCs is quite strong and there appears to be little risk of ruining them. I put on Oregon Aero(?) memory foam ear cups and unbent them a little at a time, until they were comfortable and still maintained adequate contact .

For what it's worth.....Lightspeed Zulu headseats are made in China, and NOT TSO'd.  Bose are TSO'd and made in USA.  I have the Bose X, Bose A20, and Lightspeed Zulu 2.  All of them work well.  When I bought my Zulu 2 last year, I had to send it back after the first flight, because the right ear cup noise cancellation didn't work.  I think Bose has much higher quality than the Chinese made Lightspeed headsets.  I've never had to send the Bose back.

Just to provide you guys with a closing...I got my new A20 that I purchased through Amazon. Unfortunately they were the old model. I called Bose thinking that it would be easy to swap the control unit considering that it was a brand new unit. Well, how naive was I! I was told no, that I had to return the unit to Amazon and purchase a new one from Bose... I thought that this was really one of the worse answers I ever got from them... I still like the unit and Amy keep it...but I must really say that I am disappointed with their response.
