82Mike Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 I am looking for the cowling aluminum strip that holds the winshield in place. I am in the process of converting to 1/4 inch glass and we have the original winshield out. The piece that is riveted to the cowling that hold the bottom of the windshield aim place is bent a little I would like to see it I can find a replacement for it, but am unsure where to look? It is an 82 J model. Thanks for all the help! Mike
DonMuncy Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Mike, You might try Carl Sharon. Last I heard, he had one, but I don't know whether he wants to hang onto it. Look up Houston Tank Specialists I the vendor forum. That is his tank sealing company.
82Mike Posted April 27, 2015 Author Report Posted April 27, 2015 Don thanks for responding, but tank resealing? Not sure I described correct? It is that this piece of aluminum that holds the winshield in place on the lower part of the windshield. It raps over the cowl and is riveted in place. I need another one? Does mooney sell these stil? Thanks Don for your help!
DonMuncy Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 The tank resealing thing is what Carl does. But he just happened/happens to have the part you are looking for. Don
82Mike Posted April 27, 2015 Author Report Posted April 27, 2015 Oh ok sorry I did not follow I will call him tomorrow. Thanks for the help. We got it off ok, it is just rippled a bit. A new one would look so much better once it is cherry riveted back into place. I will send you pics when it is done, it is really turning out great!
N601RX Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Laser has them new, they were about $350 a few years ago. It will have to be match drilled to the deck underneath. A used one is going to be already drilled and not match your existing holes. With a hole finder from spruce and a supply of clico's it isn't to bad of a job. Measure and fit many times and only drill once!
M20F-1968 Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Buy it new. You can use the current production part and match drill it. LASAR or any MSC can order it. John Breda
Guest Posted May 14, 2015 Report Posted May 14, 2015 You can try the Mooney Parts Dept. (830)-896-6000
