FlyDave Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 My KFC-150 began pitching up and down (quite uncomfortable!) when in altitude hold mode. Executive Autopilot in Sacramento found that the pitch servo needs to be rebuilt and that the cable that the servo drives was frayed and needs to be replaced. Sooooo.....does anyone have a line on: Manufacturer: Honeywell Part number: 200-04753-0000 Description: KK1245 PITCH CBL A Thanks, Dave Quote

N601RX Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 When we installed my Brittain altitude hold we just crimped the connectors and ends on the end of the cables that connected to the control rods. I think it was 1/16 cable from Spruce. Does your use special ends or something? Quote
FlyDave Posted January 28, 2015 Author Report Posted January 28, 2015 Can McFarlands just rebuild your current? http://www.mcfarlane-aviation.com/ FBCK - Thanks! I've contact McFarlane and they can make it up but need a drawing. I'm trying to get my hands on that now. Executive Autopilots is trying to get one from Honeywell but they're not in stock and are probably a 3-4 week minimum lead time. Quote
KSMooniac Posted January 28, 2015 Report Posted January 28, 2015 If it is common to the KFC 200 I have one. Can't lookup part numbers easily though. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote

FlyDave Posted February 19, 2015 Author Report Posted February 19, 2015 Issue finally resolved. As previously stated, I took the plane to Executive Autopilots in Sacramento. They ended up replacing the bearings in the pitch servo but I was not going to pay $600.00 for the bridle cable. When I asked them if they'd install a cable made by McFarlane they said they would not install a non PMA'ed part. They did however charge $395 in labor plus any parts (bearing in my case) to rebuild the pitch servo. I heard anywhere from $900-&1200 from other shops. I spoke to the maintenance shop on my home field and they said they certainly would install a cable from McFarlane - they do it all the time. I shipped the old cable to McFarlane on a Wednesday and got the replacement back the next Tuesday for $123.00 including shipping (2nd day USPS) - GREAT customer service! My local shop installed the cable today and jerry-N5911Q and I did a quick test flight with climbs, altitude hold and GS capture and all worked perfectly. Thanks to FBCK for the McFarlane recommendation and KSMooniac for going through the equipment from his parts plane for a cable that might work. I'm starting a new practice; every time I save ANY amount of money using info gathered on MooneySpace I'll make another "donation" to MooneySpace. This site has saved me many many AMU's in both buying 2 Mooney's as well as maintaining them. Craig - Thanks for providing such an excellent resource to the Mooney community! 3 Quote
