hoppetool Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 My M20TN Acclaim Type S is in for the tail section AD. Thankfully mine doesn't need the new parts but now seeing what parts are in question, I can see why the urgency on getting the inspection done. 10 hours from the AD notice..... Makes sense to me now. Thanks to Daytona Aircraft for jumping right on this. I'd recommend them for this work - contact Jake Clemens. Quote
rbridges Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 thanks for the pics. I don't know how a lot of stuff looks under the sheet metal. I agree that it's a pretty important part. 1 Quote

Joe Zuffoletto Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 Mine goes in next week. The two pieces on the right side need replacing in my case. Quote

Joe Zuffoletto Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 that means a partial repaint doesn it? I hope they can match up that silver. Supposedly they just need to touch up the rivets that get drilled out and replaced, but if I don't like the way that looks then we'll need to repaint the affected skins. Yeah, I hope they can match it too. Quote
Guest Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 We've done a replacement on an Acclaim both left and right sides. With careful drilling of the rivets the paint touch up is barely noticeable. It is a big job. Some shop visitors said we put the tail on backwards! Clarence Quote
carusoam Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 Thanks again for the pics and really technical detail (micrometer). It is a bit unnerving to see a tail separated.... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
sleepingsquirrel Posted September 25, 2014 Report Posted September 25, 2014 Which AD is this one? New just for your model? Thanks! Quote
hoppetool Posted September 28, 2014 Author Report Posted September 28, 2014 Looks like a good shop Yes, so far, very happy with the quality of service and timeliness of the work. Had the annual/pre-buy done there when I purchased the aircraft last year and wanted to come back to have them perform the work. Which AD is this one? New just for your model? Thanks! Not sure of the AD number off hand but it only applies to like the last 25 airplanes Mooney built before going dark. Quote

Purchased my first car in Perry at age 13 - 1965 Mustang fastback. Safe flying. Eric Quote

Eric No kidding. I fly into RYY a fair amount to see my daughter at Kennesaw State. We bought my son's Jeep at the Toyota dealership in Canton. I didn't know if maybe you were based near there. Quote
