scottfromiowa Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I just received an AD that appears to only impact serial number 761. Can someone review and clarify that this is only for serial number 761 (regarding M20E) model? Unfortunate that this AD has to come out right as Mooney is "re-launching". Thanks for input, Scott Quote
philipneeper Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 That is correct. Just S/N# 761. This AD only affects 38 aircraft. I have a C model and I was worried until I found the S/N #. 1 Quote

I have the email, but I'm not seeing it. thanks. edit--nevermind, found it further into the email and in this thread. http://mooneyspace.com/topic/12749-new-ads-came-out-guys/ Quote
rbridges Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 following scott's statement, how did they narrow it down to 1 C model mooney? Quote

sellis Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 The models that have only one model or serial number had the attach fittings replaced and the parts were sold out of the suspected batch through spare parts. 3 Quote
scottfromiowa Posted August 5, 2014 Author Report Posted August 5, 2014 I would like to know as well i feel bad for the guy who got snagged. Me too. (feel bad for 1 C&E owner affected) On the plus side, it appears that there is pretty solid documentation of specific hardware (ability to track) going back to mid-60's. 1 Quote
rbridges Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I would like to know as well i feel bad for the guy who got snagged. I agree. the FAA cost estimate to replace is >$1K for a $95 part. Quote
scottfromiowa Posted August 5, 2014 Author Report Posted August 5, 2014 If that was my plane, I might go and look for a certain bolt MFR....and "share the love"... Quote
Marauder Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I suspect the reason it may be limited to one plane is that they may have made an engineering change to that one plane in preparation for that change to be incorporated in future planes. On my 1975 F series, serial number 1305 has changes that are not on my F model series but are on that particular plane and others in the build run afterwards. Quote

Thanks for the clarification Stacey I hope you are reading all the suggestions here for the future of Mooney and passing them on to management. Quote
jamesm Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I thought serial numbers starting in 1967 have the 2 digit number prefix and then dash followed by a 4 or 5 digit number to make up the serial number. So in example in the case of year 1967 67-00xxx so serial numbers with no leading dash I would presume the AD would effect '63 or' 64 "E" model (761) and '65 or '66 "C" Model (2313) just a WAG on my part. Hope like heck the FAA doesn't change there minds make addendum the to AD for all years and models. interesting no J or K Models effected. James '67C Quote
HRM Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 The E in question (761) is not registered (no N-number). It might be one of the ones parted out. Of course, if that bad part got parted out... Quote
Guest Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Or it's registered in another country. Clarence Quote
