Matt Michael Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp... Tony Condon did my Mooney checkout a couple months ago. He's killing it today! Quote
KSMooniac Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Where is he headed, and what is he flying? Quote
Matt Michael Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Posted April 8, 2014 Standard Cirrus. Going as far as he can Quote
KSMooniac Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Cool! Looks like he is near Maxwell's home base right now. Quote
Matt Michael Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 Landed De Quency, 525 statute ! Quote
LAE Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Well hope he knows someone there because there is absolutley nothing in DeQuincy as far as accommodations go! That's about 20 miles west of the house. They do have cheap fuel though. 29 knot surface winds when I landed around one @KCWF and it didn't let up all afternoon. Hope he found smoother air than I did at 3000'. Quote
Matt Michael Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 Smooth air? Ha! He rode those bumps (thermals) all the way from Wichita! And, that 35kts wind was on his tail pushing him along the entire way. A perfect execution of a classic downwind soaring flight in a cold fair weather unstable air mass. 1 Quote
KSMooniac Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Big south winds up here today, is he gonna fly back? Quote
tonycondon Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 The wind was 17G24 I think when I landed at DeQuincy around 7:10, but quickly calmed down to about 10 as the sun set. I had tailwinds ranging from 25-40 mph for the flight. Rick, who lives at the airport, gave me a ride into town for some food and I got a room at a hotel. My chase crew arrived around midnight and we drove back to Wichita today, arriving around 8 PM. It was a pretty epic adventure. Here is the gps trace of my flight: http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/gliding/flightinfo.html?dsId=3523858 4 Quote
carusoam Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 I have challenges getting to the airport some days... That is a spectacular achievement and a great team effort! Best regards, -a- Quote
