Well hope he knows someone there because there is absolutley nothing in DeQuincy as far as accommodations go! That's about 20 miles west of the house. They do have cheap fuel though. 29 knot surface winds when I landed around one @KCWF and it didn't let up all afternoon. Hope he found smoother air than I did at 3000'.

Smooth air? Ha! He rode those bumps (thermals) all the way from Wichita! And, that 35kts wind was on his tail pushing him along the entire way. A perfect execution of a classic downwind soaring flight in a cold fair weather unstable air mass.

The wind was 17G24 I think when I landed at DeQuincy around 7:10, but quickly calmed down to about 10 as the sun set. I had tailwinds ranging from 25-40 mph for the flight. Rick, who lives at the airport, gave me a ride into town for some food and I got a room at a hotel. My chase crew arrived around midnight and we drove back to Wichita today, arriving around 8 PM. It was a pretty epic adventure. Here is the gps trace of my flight: http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/gliding/flightinfo.html?dsId=3523858
