mike_elliott Posted January 15, 2014 Author Report Posted January 15, 2014 Although I just found this and couldn't come even if it wasn't full, thanks to Mike and Ron for sponsoring this. If it continues, hopefully your timing and my schedule will come together in the future. David, based on the positive response we have received and the growing interest, I am 99.9% sure we will do it again next year if Dr. Dubin will have us. It will be held in the same time frame, and I am already thinking of possibly a formation flight clinic for those wanting to learn how to or to prepare for the Mooney Caravan to OSH. We will be adding a few more well known, Mooney instructors, expanding the seminar space, and accepting more attendees if all goes well. With a whole year to plan, it should come together rather nicely. We can strategize more at a Fl. Mooney lunch group meeting! Quote

mike_elliott Posted January 23, 2014 Author Report Posted January 23, 2014 Hopefully the success of this year will allow more to participate next year... The inaugural Mooney Summit is only 2 weeks away, but already we are planning for next year! We already know we need to at least double our capacity! We have 6 excellent Mooney instructors this year and will add at least 2 possibly 3 more. Continental Motors just announced they are sponsoring the Saturday evening dinner for this years' attendee's and will also be present the entire weekend to ask questions of. Roger Gradle, Continental Motors Group service manager, will also present a wings seminar on proper ops and maintenance of your Mooney motor Sunday to go along with the other 6 Wings credit seminars scheduled Saturday and Sunday. Next year I'm thinking of centering the educational theme around formation flying. There are a few well known Mooney owner/instructors that have pedigrees in this area that have expressed an interest, and it could be set up to compliment the requirements for the Mooney Caravan. Any thoughts? Quote
mike_elliott Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 I want to thank Phillip of SwitchBoxControl for donating an aerial photo shoot as a prize for some lucky attendee of the Mooney Summit today. This will be a real neat way to immortalize your stewardship time with your Mooney. Thanks again Phil for helping make the Mooney Summit such a great event! Quote
rbridges Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 I hate to be a gloomy gus, but the weather for PC is not looking great. It's still early, and hopefully the forecast will improve. Quote
mike_elliott Posted February 3, 2014 Author Report Posted February 3, 2014 Highs of 65 Deg on Sat with a 35% chance of rain predicted Sat and Sunday. It could be worse, like the 5 deg and 12" of snow where some are coming from And as everyone who has ever entertained knows "the show must go on". A good number of our attendee's are flying commercial, and we have 8 Wings credit seminars and 2 social events even if the Saturday flight activites have to be scrubbed because of wx. My dilemma is whether to fly a Bravo, a J or my F See you there Robert! 1 Quote
rbridges Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 I'll push through rain as long as there are no storms. We're planning to do a last minute priceline room. Hope to see you guys there. Quote
AmigOne Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 If at all still possible I would like to be placed on your standby list. Weather for the return trip to Va after the events does not look good but I may be able to hang around Florida visiting some friends for a while until it improves. House alarm notwithstanding, I am not as paranoid as other friends that while I am gone some nefarious individual will i) find where I live, ii) be close enough to make it worthwhile and iii) be ignorant if anybody else lives with us, make the chances of my house being robbed pretty remote so feel free to place my name on the list. Thanks for putting this event together, I know it must take a lot of effort. (Jose from Virginia) Quote
rbridges Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 alright. rooms are booked and will get rental car arranged tomorrow. I hope to see you guys Friday PM. btw, will 2 nights of Florida salt air cause my plane to corrode? Quote
Hank Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 If you get enough rain, it will wash the salt air right if of your plane. :-) Ya'll have fun, and think about us working stiffs! 1 Quote

Mooneymite Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Just happened I was in ECP on Tuesday, talking to Mike Lerma, the FBO manager (Sheltair). He's a Mooney lover, but not an owner. He says he'd love a nice C model. He's going to give us .75 off on avgas...$5.92/gallon. Free first night tie-down and $12 thereafter. Let's find Mike a nice C model, so he can join in! For those who haven't been there before, Sheltair is at the _very_ end of RWY 16. Quote
chrisk Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 First I'm not going since my plane is down for paint. I would however like to hear the go/no decisions that are being made. Where are you coming from? What altitude are you planning? Quote

A trace of Ice but the rain took it off.....was ready to make a 180 if needed. But we're here! Tomorrow looks a lot better .....fly safe! 2 Quote

Hank Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Yeah, there was 1/4" oink f sleet on my truck cover after work this evening. I'm now inside that last hour's flight for you. Would not have been a good flight in my C (once I get her down here! ). Quote
