M016576 Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Anybody using the Fly Q EFB on an Ipad? Just wondering I have been playing around with it a bit but havent really used it just yet. I use the flyQ app for the iPhone: love it... Primarily because it's free with my aopa subscription. Quote
CDF219 Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 DONT THINK ABOUT IT ANYMORE!!!! Go buy a yolk mount and buy it....I love it I have a ipad mini mounted on my pilot side yolk and the dual xb170...they just did a upgrade to v1.2 go to youtube and type in( FLYQ EFB 1.2) watch the upgrades. I fly in Atlanta so it is amazing here and up in north Ga. You could land in zero zero using the synthetic vision alone....I dont reccomend it of course because its not legal. ...But you could trust me. Look stop thinking about it and go get it......Let me know when you do ...nevermind you will let everyone know when you do in amazment....oh btw No i dont work for them...lol Quote
carusoam Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 I use it to check the weather w/ ipad1... Great source of radar weather and airport data/ ceilings... Free with Aopa membership... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
rbridges Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 I just loaded it on my iPad. I can't figure out how to add an arrival to a flight plan. I typically get the jrams3 arrival for the Atlanta airports but jrams3 comes up as an invalid waypoint on the flight planner. Did a search but no luck. Quote
rbridges Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 just checked with tech support.   I am sorry that you were having problems with FlyQ EFB. Currently an arrival/departure database is not available in FlyQ EFB. I have shared your concern with the developers and this is something that they are looking into. Thank you for your patience. In the mean-time, the only way to include it would be to manually enter the points on the arrival procedure into waypoints.  I may still go with it instead of FF, but I hope they add the arrival database. piperpainter Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 I used this App for a school paper experiement and it sucks! I would NEVER use it for an actual flight. The synthetic vision was the only thing that was cool. Otherwise it wasn't user friendly for flight plans or many of hte other features. go with Foreflight or WingX Quote
Amelia Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 I have found FlyQ EFB to be simple, intuitive, and fairly full-featured. It is also less expensive than most of the competition. SIDs and STARs would be a very helpful addition, though. I especially like the fact that it isn't tied to a specific ADS-B box. I like FF and Garmin both, but the proprietary ADS-B hardware for each have led me to back-burner both apps, in favor of those apps that allow a choice, including the nice little Dual170b ADS-B unit I am using. I really like the format of the airport information page, with everything you could ask for at a single glance. Quote
carusoam Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 Amelia, Do the SIDS and stars, not exist? Or you haven't found them yet? With one of the other EFBs they are tossed in with approach procedures. You kind of need to know they exist and look for them at the same time. Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with your choice of EFB... Or my choice of EFB either... Best regards, -a- Quote
