GeorgePerry Posted November 23, 2010 Author Report Posted November 23, 2010 It's a bittersweet day for me. I just completed the sale and saw off the new owner to N5365G. My wife and I already miss it, but since the Navy won't ship our Mooney's to Japan it is for the best. The new owner is also in the military and a great guy. I hope he and his family enjoy it as much as we did. At least I have a couple of years to save for that Missile or Eagle as a replacement and I've already got the "green light" from the wife! Quote
Paul Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 First off.....Thanks for serving our country, you lucky son of a gun. I can offer no real advise. However, my wife would like me to sell my 231 and move down to a Beech A36 or a light twin. I am wondering what our group is finding with respecst to selling is this market. Quote
GeorgePerry Posted November 23, 2010 Author Report Posted November 23, 2010 Quote: JimR I had wondered what you had decided to do with your Mooney during your upcoming overseas tour, George. I agree that selling her was almost certainly the right course of action under your circumstances, but man that must have been a difficult decision. I have a feeling that ASO, Controller, Barnstormers, and TAP are going to become your very good friends over the coming years. Stick with us here at MooneySpace during your sabbatical from Mooney ownership. You're a good guy to have around. Jim Quote
MooneyMitch Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 "Mooney's have been part of my life since I was a kid, so there'll be another one in my future." No doubt about this at all. Take care George and thank you to you and your wife for your service to our country. As JimR says, please stay with us here on MooneySpace. Quote
Seth Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Good luck in Japan George! I know today must have been difficult for you. All of us here at MooneySpace (and no, I do not have permission to speak for the group however I'm going to anyway) want updates both from Japan as well as when you start looking for your new to you bird in a few years. DaV8or Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Wow. That's a tough day. Congrats again on your new adventure in Japan though! The years will fly by and you'll be back home before you can say Konichiwa! Hopefully you'll make and save up so much money over there that buying and upgrading will be easy when you get back. Do you think the new owner of your bird will join us here? Quote

drpep Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Hello George As I share your last name I felt some affinity to fire off an email to you congratulating you on your posting. I am a former Navy seal from Canada and I have enjoyed flying much more than diving. I am now a forensic psychologist digging into the clandestine realm of human misbehavior. Flying my Mooney while it does not happen daily it is a daily preoccupation. Be well, fly well and stay connected. I have benefited from your sharing on Mooneyspace. Philip Quote

fantom Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Smooth sailing in Japan, George. If North Korea isn't taught a quick lesson, you may have a lot of company soon! Quote
Piloto Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Trying to sell a plane within a month is an unrealistic task these days. Keeping in storage is probably your best feasible option. Airplanes have been kept in storage in museums for decades without any significant degradation. If you keep it in hangar for 2 years even if you do not run it will not degrade as much as you think. The navy keeps planes in aircraft carriers for years, so they must have good experience on storing planes in such rough environment. Check with the carrier mechanics to see what they recommend. Congratulations on your new assignment. I don't think you are going to miss flying the Mooney at subsonic speeds. Good Luck José Quote
aerobat95 Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Well guys, I am happy to say the N5365G is in its new home here in Wichita, KS. I had a heck of a journey coming home from Virginia due to the not so great weather. But, I am super happy and really excited to finally own my own plane and have the freedom to go and fly a nice plane whenever I choose and not have to schedule or meet minimum flight times if the family and I want to go somewhere. Thanks to everyone who has helped me out over the past few months. Ray Quote

Vref Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 George, well, selling an aircraft is always accompanied with mixed feelings specially when you invested a lot (time and effort) to get it your craft...went through this a couple of months ago...and now I am doing it again..arn't we all masochists... Good luck... I am sure your next mooney will be even nicer! PS My bottom base color on my M20J is also deep green ...very nice color I think... Quote
