I have a Lynx 9000+ that handles all of the ADS-B stuff with my Aspen and with its own display. I never sold my GDL-39 and carry it along and use it for a backup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

How long did it take you Flash? 15, 20 seconds tops?

Unfortunately the world evolves. Places I thought would be a great place to retire, now are armpits. I met a retired Army officer who was in his early 50s and was traveling around the country in a 5th wheel RV. He told me that he and his wife would move from location to location, stay a couple of months, get assimilated into the community and then move on. He said they took notes on the locations and then planned just before they knew they were too old to continue traveling, pick one of them as their final retirement community. I thought that was a unique approach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Add GPSS / Roll Steering Converter???

I don’t think anyone is suggesting you buy one of these so you can become a child of the magenta line and a king at AP button pushing. I hand flew for 10 years, 7 of those in my Mooney with a freshly stamped IFR ticket in my pocket. I still remember the anxious feeling I would get when I would hear those words “I’ve got a lengthy re-route for you, advise when ready to copy”. Sure I did it manually, but it didn’t mean I liked it. Not to mention after a long hand flown flight in the soup how poorly I performed due to the fatigue. An autopilot like you suggest is just another tool to be incorporated into your flying. Ironically on the 6 month IPCs I do, the instructor I use won’t even let me fly a coupled approach. When I practice with a safety pilot, I will mix in coupled approaches or just fly them by myself visually with the AP coupled just so I do stay current on flying them coupled. Like I did in the video I posted. It doesn’t mean the world works this way. I have flown with pilots who are addicted to their autopilots. So much in fact, I have asked why are they asking me to be their safety pilot when it’s clear they’re letting George do all the work. Those are the ones who I worry for. I made a set out of foam. When I do visit places in the Spring where bird activity is high, I made enough small foam inserts that I put in plastic baggies and stuck them in the Mooney’s nooks and crannies. Especially the tail area. Think that appears to be a hotel for birds. You will need to be careful with what you use for the cowl opening. You will want a material that is flame or melt resistant over the foam or use a foam like Solimide HT-340 that is resistant to heat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

This is a good suggestion as I believe the rear mounted RSM may be getting power from the same breaker. I think the ACU or EA-100 have their own breaker (at least I know I have a separate breaker for my ACU).

I hope your order is easier to process. Mine was a custom order and there were delays. I spoke to Linda at Aerosheep today about the headrest covers. They weren’t shipped with the seat covers. My seats were changed a bit with memory foam and I had the headrests made bigger to accommodate my Mongo sized head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I sent the picture above to a friend. He said it looked like I pimped out my Mooney. It wasn’t until I turned in the night lights that I realized he was right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Sorry, haven’t followed everything you have tried. When you test it with the engine off, are you isolating the GTN by only powering up the radio and audio panel? I would pull all the breakers except for the audio panel and radio to see what that does. Then bring things back on line by the breaker. If the Aspen is the cause, I would call them and see what they have to say. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

And BTW, I have a magnetic mount on the yoke and the metal plates on the back of the iPad. If it gets in the way of the passenger, I plop the iPad back on the yoke where the iPhone I was playing with was located. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

It is this gizmo from mygoflight. The ashtray was removed and replaced with a flat metal plate. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

The standard GoPro mount stuck fine. You may need to clean the area with some alcohol to get an unseen dirt & grime off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

I flew for years with a KMA-20. Simple, reliable and pretty boring.

Hey, look on the bright side, we’re not talking about LOP vs. ROP, flaps vs. no flaps, Depends vs. Travel Johns vs. José’s piss tube Venturi. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
And for entertainment only value, this is the coupled approach I flew after the waypoint experiment. I am testing out a new GoPro in preparation for some updates videos on the Aspen and Lynx units. No audio, that will come later. And for those of you wondering why I side stepped to the right, there was a Citation that took off just before I got to the DA. Did not want to fly into his wake on the missed approach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I saw the discussion regarding the 135 degree turns. Next time I fly, I will fly one that has at least 135 degrees. I calculated the highest angle on the flight I did and it was only 98 degrees. I have a couple other waypoints I could use that will give me in excess of 180 degrees. When I looked at my Garmin Pilot track afterwards, saw a funny anomaly. Where I did my runup, it looked like a little explosion.

Forgot to mention, if you contact them, they will send you a set of samples. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Well, I received the covers yesterday and installed them this afternoon. At first I thought the fit wasn’t right but after pulling the straps, it all snugged up fine. They did forget to ship the headrest covers and I will call them in the morning to find out where they are. The quality of skins is excellent. I have sat on other sheepskin covers but I will say these are extremely comfortable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Well I did some experimenting with my Aspen, STEC 60-2 and the GTN 650. I picked several waypoints that forces the autopilot to make at least 90° turns. Well, it did a great job of anticipating the turns and did an even better job of flying them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
