  1. I just had mine done for ~ $350 at a shop on the field at KDTO. It turned out great.
  2. I used them about a year ago and they did a great job. Unit came back looking brand new. Only issue is related to the fuel gauges not reporting correctly but I don't think that's the cluster.
  3. MPG - Out of curiosity are actually in the market for a plane or just day-dreaming? Based on some of your latest post and other posts on other threads, you're just dreaming. Nothing wrong dreaming (we all do it!) but we just went through 40 posts thinking you were seriously looking at this plane which appears to not be the case. If you're a serious potential buyer, we're more than willing to help you through the process and/or provide our two cents but if not, please let us know so we can refrain from commenting on every plane that hits the market.
  4. MPG, one question... Why are you looking at this plane? If your answer is that it's all you can afford, don't buy it. The ONLY way I'd consider this plane is that I have tons of extra money that I could easily spend $45K for a nice plane but prefer a project plane to tinker with and lots of extra time. If $15K is your budget, I recommend looking at other types of planes. I personally think it realistically takes twice that amount to get into a decent Mooney. Then half that much each year to keep it in the air. It pains me but this plane may never fly again...
  5. Do you mind sharing a copy of the PDF? Mine is a less than ideal quality.
  6. David, You have the same year C model that I have and I actually went in and increased the cowl flap opening by about an inch. It really seemed to make a difference. For what ever reason, the factory calls out the flap opening to be 1.1" which might be some of the issue.
  7. Guys, the B17 guys are stuffing the ballot boxes.... we went for a nice lead to 100 down! Please vote!
  8. I personally like Stinson (SSF). Close to downtown but still GA Friendly. http://skyvector.com/airport/SSF/Stinson-Municipal-Airport
  9. Guys, Not sure if you've been participating in the AOPA's version of March Madness but our beloved Mooney has made it to the Elite Eight. So to move it into the Final Four, it needs our vote! http://www.aopa.org/aircraft/challenge/index.html
  10. Buy one of these: http://www.tripplite.com/high-speed-usb-to-serial-adapter-keyspan~USA19HS/ You can connect up your DB9 connector to this device. It basically turns your USB connection to a serial port. With the software that comes with it, you can set the BAUD rate and download the data using JPI's fee windows software. Once the files are downloaded you can turn around and upload them to Savvy Analysis for viewing. All works like a champ!
  11. Don, do you think this issue occurred when you had recent avionics work performed?
  12. Lee, I have TIS-A and it show all traffic I the main navigation screen. It automatically changes to the traffic screen it traffic is too close. Is that not how it works with your setup? I have a GNS430W/GTX330ES ADS-B in setup.
  13. Welcome to the club! It happens to all of us for the first one. You'll find change number two, you'll hardly spill a drop.
  14. Oscar, my O-360-A1D has Bendix mags. The PN for them are: 10-163045-3 & 10-600644-1. Hope this helps.
  15. Don, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on that setup. I've got the 430W/330ES combo and am seriously considering adding the GDL 88 for ADS-B In. One concern is the screen size for weather. I already get TIS-A traffic so I'm assuming that would be the same. Please keep us posted.
  16. Wesley a couple of thoughts... 1. Fuel Enrichment - I've found that it does help but not enough to overcome the poor cooling you get with the doghouse baffling. So the answer is to get to cruise climb ASAP (120-130MPH) and if you're still about 400df on CHT, you'll need to bring back your power. I personally climb out at 125 MPH with 25 squared. CHT's are in the 380 range. 2. EGT - Meaningless number. You're looking for deltas not actual values. What one person has or uses for EGT temps will not relate to your plane. 3. Don't use power settings from any Mooney that's fuel injected or has a newer C model that doesn't have a doghouse. or anyone with a modified cowling. Those setting don't apply to your plane. Might as well be using the POH settings from brands, B, C or P.
  17. Seriously... don't bother. Send it off to LASAR as I did and $200 later I had a completely rebuilt unit done right.
  18. Contact LASAR and let them know what model and year. They have kits available. Be forewarned that they'll attempt to talk you into sending the unit to them for servicing. Their number is: 800-954-5619.
  19. So does experience allow for you to set longer on the bench before rust sets in? I personally, feel if I don't fly every other week, I got rust to deal with. What's everyone's threshold?
  20. Just updated my 430W and 330ES to the latest firmware versions and all seems to be working fine. Definitely resolve the FOB issue which I've been waiting for.
  21. Now that's staying power. It's got to be one of the best all time best Navcom's ever built. I have one in my plane and use it pretty much as Bob does. ASOS/ground/on guard and a backup Navcom.
  22. It's always interesting to me to look at all these new fancy glass panels with the latest in avionics and almost always you'll see a trusty Bendix King Navcom in the stack. Quite the testimony I'd say.
  23. I don't have the bucks to have an all glass cockpit installed but if I did and wanted it, I don't think I'd think twice about installing it in my "vintage" Mooney. After all, since 172's have G1000's surely our vintage Mooney's would be as worthy.
