  1. Tommy mine reads 40 degrees cooler. It's not a big deal... you learn what is normal and that's the profile you use. cross check it with the planes primary cluster if you choose.
  2. Need to be careful doing that... the last PPP I attended the instructor simulated an engine out to landing which resulted in a gear-up.
  3. Looks like there were a couple of like new GDL 39 3D units w/battery and Bluetooth sold for $790. So maybe a fair price for a unit without battery and blue tooth would be in the $700-$750 range.
  4. There's one now up for bid... has a few days on it but the current bid is $435.
  5. Isaac, In the Maintenance and Service Manual there's a chart (figure 2-9 in my manual) that shows what lubrication you should use on various components. That chart is a full three pages long. Also, there's a thread entitled "Lets Talk Lubrication" that covers it in great detail.
  6. Ordering online you generally bypass taxes and can usually get free shipping as well. Based on that price, I'm assuming that it's the wired version (without battery and bluetooth)?
  7. How firm is that price? I might be interested but not at the same price that I can purchase a new warranted unit.
  8. I sense that the airlines are on a verge of having a major crisis on their hands as it relates to the over reliance on automation. Most airline pilots are flipping on the AP as soon as they can and flip it off just before touchdown and only hand flying when they have too. We are already seeing landing accidents were pilots have let their hand flying skills degrade to the point they struggle to land without given a glideslope. Not sure if they don't like to fly or is it just ego that it might show the pilot next them them that they're not that good of a pilot but something will have to give... And soon.
  9. Yeah... When Hal wouldn't let Dave back in...
  10. I don't have a problem with folks using handles or strange profile names... just don't hide behind them. If you're not using your actual name, at least add a signature line so everyone knows who they're chatting with.
  11. Need to take all these nominees and put them on a poll.
  12. I used AIC and would again in a heartbeat. They made the entire process completely painless.
  13. Same here... I hear Mike's very graphic description of what this is like if a human had one installed but not sure I buy it completely. It would be nice to see some sort of study if there's actually any volatility in what Mike states.
  14. Very Cool! Sorry to the OP for hijacking his thread... back to your regular scheduled program...
  15. They say you can do the entire car including kit and donor car for ~$15K... Is that what you're seeing?
  16. Do you plan on rebuilding the engine and drive train before dropping it into the car?
  17. I have one of those Fat Man's fuel selector Tee Handle. I've not seen any spec's for them but next time I'm at the hangar I'll take some measurements and snap some pictures.
  18. Nice! I always thought I'd like to build their MK4 Roadster. Does it also use a Ford Mustang donor car?
  19. Could be... need to arrange a drive off. I do have one of these in the garage. http://www.alfaholics.com/2010/07/1975-alfa-romeo-spider-2000-veloce-136/ It's Italian and the body was made by the same folks that made Ferrari's body so that has to account for something!
  20. Fair enough.... It's all in the eye of the beholder. Then again I prefer the Ferrari 308GTS over the Testarossa.
  21. Sherman, Make sure you keep in mind that the actual cost of a plane is one thing but the recurring expense is a completely different animal. Make sure you have at least 20% of the purchase price set aside to fix all of the deferred maintenance items you'll find the first year. Also, keep in mind, that you'll have insurance (north of $2K for a new pilot), annuals (~$2k) and monthly hangar rent(~$2000-$5000 Annually). This is all before you put a single drop of gas in the plane. If you don't have this level of disposable income, you might want to look at partnerships similar to what you're doing with your 150.
