  2. I got that line too and shopped harder, next quote received was lower than last year’s premium.
  3. I fly out of KVNY a lot. They are real pros, as good as or better than any you’ll find anywhere. And they’re also great to work with, very pleasant. I’ve been to plenty much less busy places where controllers have had far less patience and grace.
  4. Right now KVNY down to one runway, so this shut down the busiest GA airport in the country. I know of two corporate jets that had to divert, and I’m sure there were a bunch!
  5. It’s true that Cirrus sold hundreds of planes with chutes, but such airframe modifications are extremely expensive and time-consuming. Focus on those buyers—do we think 100% of them only bought because of that feature? That’s unlikely. But even if only 10% of those buyers would consider an airplane without a chute, and bought a Mooney, that would double or triple Mooney sales. Based on how many of us choose to fly planes without chutes, I’ll bet the number of Cirrus buyers who would consider an un-chuted plane to be much more than 10%. Mooney has to reach those people looking at a new Cirrus in 2019 and 2020, and close them.
  6. THIS! This is also good advice on the maintenance side of ownership. Find someone experience who is willing to share knowledge and help. From Georgia, Don Maxwell in TX is not far by Mooney. Welcome to a great community. For ANY new PPL, suggest you keep asking questions and learning, don’t accept Old Wives’ Tales, and try to keep expanding your skills and experience. The education is really just starting ...
  7. Hear, hear...some great formators up in NorEast already ... bet some of us Best Coasters/Gunfighters would be willing to help out again! And as mentioned for TX, there are more experienced Caravan Formators all over now from which to draw...
  8. What is condition of mag/ignition components? After various techniques/plugs/timing remedies/OWTs, bullet bitten = mag OH remedied my issues.
  9. I’ve had my J 20+ years but it’s never started on ONE blade. I hope to see this someday and learn how to do it.
  10. There are a ton of companies working on the equivalent of VTOL Uber-type vehicles. As for me, I want my Jetsons Flying Car!!
  11. Great thread...True, there are many tricks and techniques. But they will only be in OUR bag if we put them there ... BEFORE we need them! Flying the same hour 2,000 times or always doing it the same way “because that what my CFI taught me” doesn’t add much more to the bag. Get out and try new stuff (with help and safely).
  12. We all rely on someone, here's an example of why my wife is a rockin' Mooney spouse...thanks for the gift, honey! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  13. I have flown form with a C that has the 201 nose/windscreen mods, on his 180 HP he stayed on my wing at 145 knots TAS. It’s impressive; those aerodynamic tweaks make a big difference.
  14. Nicely done! What everyone wants: A well-executed, event-less mission. Thanks for sharing.
  15. The team that video’d it - courtesy of our new colleague who announced the arrival - said they’d post it once edited over the weekend. I will get it to all Caravaners once released.
  16. Same number - 61 - came in as departed Madison, but we came in on Sunday (not Saturday as scheduled) due to weather delay. First element landed within 20 seconds of the 1730 slot given to Mooney Lead by OSH Tower. Nice job!
  17. I’ve not gotten final number, but from eyeballing it, there’s >20 youths in the Caravan this year...awesome!
  18. That used to be true. We renumbered to conform with FFI/FAST practice where "2" is the less-experienced wing.
  19. You know what No. 3 means, Chocks? Closest to the crowds! Make your element Lead look good ... especially THAT one, or you will never hear the end of it here!
  20. I have met two people who done a transatlantic round trip from the US: One alone in a J and one with his wife in an F. Personally, my engine always seems to sputter nearly imperceptibly when I cross the Pacific to Catalina (26 miles, climb to 6500 or better enroute) but plenty of people have crossed big water in a piston single. I imagine things are much better with GPS and satellite phones too. Heck, probably have plenty of time to catch up on MooneySpace enroute...
  21. My now-16 yo son has gone since 2006, and his now-19 yo sis since 2008. They're far from the only kids who've "grown up" in the Caravan and at OSH. My daughter did Women Soar, an amazing program for high school girls, and there is the museum, seaplane base, KidVenture, the drone, ultralight, and college recruiting areas...as long as they have a phone and a charger (gotta learn the places to recharge), I honestly cannot think of a safer place for teens to hang out in America today than AirVenture. And if they self-identify and leave their Caravan nameplates on, they'll have friends wherever they go.
  22. Wow! Quite a crowd! Look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones...
  23. Airfield closed for a few days. Was OK ... once they allowed aircraft in. The ground dries quickly and they roped off wet areas. They do a remarkably good job of maintaining and shepherding people. Still, like anything else, no one should do something with which they’re not comfortable. There are pilots who base their Mooneys on a grass strip. Others would never try it (and l sure didn’t before OSH). To each their own...
