Be gentle it's my first time
John Pleisse replied to Dream to fly's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Good for you....great ownership!!!!! -
Amen to that.

Don't go to Fed Ex, Staples or UPS store. They'll assert copyrights and not allow you. Went through this. It was actually cheaper to leave the original POH in a bag and order a new one from Mooney for $240.00.

To buy or not to buy? Rocket 305 TSI-520-NB
John Pleisse replied to RedSkyFlyer's topic in General Mooney Talk
OK....that doesn't seem like clear coat on the wing surface, but corrosion. Strip the wings and repaint. -

Exceptional aircraft. -
No big deal. Your IA will sign off as airworthy. Start looking for a good used control surface now and plan on replacement prior to painting or selling. There is no real repair other than bending out and filling with bondo. This sucks. Sorry to see it. Good luck.

Vacuum filters?? Easy fix???? -
The proprietor who managed and sold PC wing leveler parts, etc. passed away and I heard the business is now closed. Anybody know if the business was assumed by someone else? Looking for PC wing leveler parts and knowledge. Muchos....... Thanks.

Unless there is a front, I always used to transition off shore during the day and over ground at night.

That's right.......wasn't it listed on sec charts as 2200-2400 at one time? Great video....

I have many landings at 2W2. For people unfamiliar and perhaps Ross did not mention, the drome sits on a plateau with pretty hefty slopes on both approach ends.....especially 32. It's only 2800 usable and you always seems to get an updraft or the bottom falls out. Great video Ross.....nice squeaker on landing. Dying to meet my favorite "F". John

Oddly enough..I bought my A20's, not from an aviation vendor, but came across them at a local Bose outlet (of all places)....and $75 cheaper than our ever beloved Sporty's (who has plucked my last nerve, along with Rieff Heaters for not taking American Express). I think, at one time, the Bose product was very unique and sought after by many grossly under paid commercial pilots and CFI's. Now there are 10 very good headset manufacturers, who offer competitive products in the $500-$650 range, putting Bose in a position to no longer offer that deal. Just my take. Here's what I find tough about Bose. While rugged, the headsets can develop problems. Bose only offers a flat repair rate of $175.00. Anybody had any experience with this?

Don't waste your time attempting approaches until you can fly a full 15 minute circuit (Hank-above) zero wind, end up where you started. Swiggling like a snake down an ILS course is not how to learn. Have absolute full control of the aircraft and know your numbers cold. I like knocking out the written too, because you'll have to revisit all that info a second time as you move to latter practical training phases. What's wrong with MS Flight SIM while studying for the written? Cheap and effective. You'll fly every damn day at Embry. You'll want to be competent in that very competitive environment when you get there.

Oooooops.

I was there and did not know about this.....I have a hangar at ESN. I hope you guys went to "Buns" and somebody was brave enough to eat a "Crabzilla"!!!

I think North Dakota, Chris.

Money in escrow, 5 hour walk around at Henry Weber and settlement next week. The new owner is a getting an excellent aircraft at an extremely fair price (if he falls through...we have two more buyers ready...there are no issues with this a/c). I can only imagine the new owner's horror, when he comes to this site and searches his newly acquired tail number. So, it's goodbye to my beloved 201 of nearly 17 years and onward. It's been great, fellas. Thanks.

What's Your Favorite Aviation Quote?
John Pleisse replied to mulro767's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
"Always leave yourself a back door". Me -----and----- "John, it's not what you can afford..............it's want you want". Don Maxwell -
I have blown a knee out messing with something similar. Then I wised up and put in for a South facing hangar.

Talked to a student pilot, not told to use trim
John Pleisse replied to ryoder's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
It's easy for students to develop the bad habit of flying the plane with the trim wheel, so I see the point. Or worse, trim too far up for pattern work, setting up potential problems. However, in an engine out or BG scenario, you gotta know it. The amount of trim required to relieve control pressure on a C152 is about a quarter turn. I recall trim not even necessary with full flaps on a C152. I did recall trimming for slow flight. -
I know of many who use a small...very small ceramic heater in the interior before flight....supervised, nowhere near the fuel selector or gascolator. It is important. Gyros grind away IMO. To make my point? Fresh lubed vernier controls and cables start to squeak and stick in this kind of cold. Don't think for a moment lower grade lubes are doing their job on delicate gyros. This one is great. 6"x8" and will almost heat your whole hangar. http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hvac/heaters/portable-electric/llr33556-space-heater-thermostat-2-settings-1-fan-setting-ceramic-light-gray?infoParam.campaignId=T9F&gclid=CLvz8LTs8MMCFeJr7Aod3isAFQ (BTW, nice hook on the thread name....I was chewing on raw meat.....looking to argue) .

Well, now we are certain of the driving force behind this. And you have it wrong Anthony. Traffic on these websites is down......way down, mainly because the content is completely rehashed and recycled. Nearly every subject has been addressed, contended and offered at least four times. It is natural attrition. This website now has a third of the activity and participation it had in 2009. You might consider more lively methods of generating traffic. There is always somebody who is thin skinned and a whiner. I'd add, that this is perhaps the kind of backlash, you have been scheming and hoping you would see. Territorial, petty and OCD. Just look at your dissertation/manifesto above. The school play ground is a revealing place.

The thread was harmless. It was just in the wrong place. It should be allowed and listed below the line and not in "Misc Aviation..". I understand the frustration of someone who would author a great thread and see it constantly bumped down the list because Timmy was so active. There are a lot of personalities here, many of whom I politically and morally disagree. Byron and I have been at each others throats for 5 years on all of the threads, yet we had a delightful lunch last month. I don't like "fleecers" who want to assert a sterile community. I politically spar with Bo, Cabot, Andy, Byron and others with whom I disagree........and in doing so, I'd like to think I have made some great Mooney aviation friends. List it below the line, so it doesn't interfere with direct aviation content. And Anthony......run for condo president.
