  1. Oh...in the "Little Timmy Thread", haphazardly....I got the final word.
  2. It's a great outlet....lotta fun. Issues of the day and a place for a bunch of smarty-pants pilots to blow off some steam. Love it.
  3. Oh...bed time reading..... good night Maureen and a belated Happy Valentines Day. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/15/opinion/sunday/maureen-dowd-call-off-the-dogs.html?_r=1
  4. Canadian healthcare is a 1969 model that is starting to weigh it's society.....we've been through this. Hop on a bus in Niagara Falls and go buy some Nexium.
  5. Oh...absolutely... mentally ill...I am on board. Problem is, most of these mass murderers do themselves in and NGBRI is earned in due process. So, sadly, we only have CNN's word for it....a loose history and a little her se. I say, up the standard of proof in NGBRI with regard to mass capital murder cases. The bar needs to be elevated. More have killed themselves than have have survived, so there is no yardstick, again, other than the media's interpretation.
  6. It isn't the accuracy of a handgun shot...we all know how hard it is to hit a target beyond 10 meters. If a "Canadian" (family racial code word here in the states for a non indigenous ethnic minority) entered my home and I put two in the sheet rock within even ten feet of him, I'd hedge my bets he will run and not return fire....and even so, as the video proves, the intruder won't be that good of a shot. I am getting one of these next paycheck...your thoughts? http://www.thehomesecuritysuperstore.com/gun-safe-microvault-gvtmv500std-gmc-p=3795?gclid=CKGykvDx58MCFQ0bgQodARIAXw Kid proof, deployed in 12 sec's. Again, we seem to still be on the Yellow Brick Road........no policy, just good ideas for responsible owners still.
  7. I think "mass" murder is beyond any spiritual levity that should be afforded to a human being. Remember, it is an eye for and eye..... not an eye for 23 eyes. My humble sin.
  8. I hope Bo and I are looking at the same Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate
  9. 1) You took the bait...I said "unique" not exceptional. To do so usurps the constitution. 2) And .310 and smaller will lead to what? Another law, when statistics remain convenient? 3) Storage, transport and unlawful carry laws exist in 49 of of 50 states. I am supposing you knew this before suggesting it. 4) Rigorous safety and qualification laws exist in all states to purchase or possess a handgun 5) Gun buy backs? Empty moral symbolism that doesn't put a dent in the problem....oh, and they cost money...lots of it. I find it not only remarkable that you would suggest these impositions to gun owners, but you neglect to offer a solution to the problem. And as a gun owner with Canadian freedoms, you, yourself refuse the obvious. You have offered solutions for misfire deaths, garden variety suicide and a splash of domestic violence. All suggestions that most law abiding gun owners here in the states have in place. Did you assume the NRA is just a lobbying arm and void of responsible mission? No Bo......let's talk about major urban centers, let's talk about criminality, let's talk about ethnic on ethnic gun violence, let's talk about gangs, let's talk about illegal gun importation, let's talk about liberal cities and municipalities that won't allow citizens conceal carry permits, but indeed will make special exceptions for former asshole cops and political elite, let's talk about interstate purchase, let's talk about providing more protection for our children with armed guards (after all, we have guns to protect armored cars), let's talk about mandatory felony legislation for for gun use in the commission of a crime, let's talk about mandatory capital punishment for mass murder, let's talk about state funded gun education in public schools, let's talk about reform of our lobbying process........and? How about background checks for psychotic neighbors. Any idea's? I would find this more interesting than a weekend gun course at the Izaak Walton League.
  10. I'll be as brief as I can, given the depth of this issue. Let's start by working off of a few basic axioms with which to navigate. Inarguable realities that exist and shape the gun debate in America. 1) There are more guns than people in America 2) Our constitution allows individuals to own guns, almost limitlessly. 3) We have a political process that supports gun ownership. 4) Guns (and this may come as a shock to you) are designed to kill and are unique as such 5) America is unique when compared to the developed world and we are not the model of the developed world 6) America has the world's most armed, prolific military and correspondingly one of the largest ex-patriot veteran populations in the world 7) Our neighbors to the south in places like Mexico, Venezuela, Columbia, Jamaica and especially, Brazil have 4 to 5 times the number of guns and death rate per capita, yet are arrogantly dismissed as "underdeveloped" or "criminal". 8) Not a single gun law in America has served it's intended purpose, in fact the opposite. The only gun law that has worked, ever so briefly, was the ban in Washington DC that was just found to be unconstitutional 9) Of the 310,000,000 guns in America, the last 50 million have been purchased in frenzied run ups to impending gun legislation 10) Criminals are responsible for more homicide and death due to fire arms than law abiding gun owners and law abiding citizens. 11) There hasn't been an amendment to the US Constitution in nearly 25 years and it (the 27th) was a populist effort. 12) The recent rash of mass shootings in America didn't produce populous support (other than Pierce Morgan, bless his heart...oops, sorry, not a citizen) for a single new federal gun law. These are realities we face.....it is where we are. My friends in Sweden, Canada and England really burn me up when they arrogantly flaunt around statistics and comparisons to "developed",,,,"civilized" societies. Sure, the death statistics are inarguable, but like all numbers, are mathematical products of reality. Want to argue gun control in America? Provide a responsible solution. Let's hear it? I am all ears. Otherwise, I love it.......just the way it is......and Supreme Court Law and the Constitution of the United States afford me this protection.
  11. And? You don't get a pass laughing......anybody can do that. Argue on merit, not a Canadian fly-by.
  12. Arm more law abiding American citizens than gun carrying criminals. Contrary to liberal ideology, this actually works.
  13. Do I detect just a "teensie-weensie" bit of sarcasm and a dash of anti-Catholic disdain?
  14. Riddle me this.......compare the price tag of an F18 Hornet ..........to a C-17 full of grain, AZT and birth control pills. Listen Andy, I know Jon Stewart moving on will really affect your news gathering ability, but look at the bright side.....Colbert is coming to CBS. I love it...blah...blah...blah... TEA PARTY.........blah...blah....blah.... FOX NEWS..........diarrhea of the key board.
  15. Let's see.....a nation of our interests needs our help. We send help. As much as I know your kind of cocktail party crowd would like to call that "war-mongering"..........and since you can't.....what do you call it? Oh wait....let's bring in the UN and Unicef and get their opinion........................PUH-LEEEZE!!!! Maybe we should become neutral, so we can be like Sweden and make ourselves feel....well....conscientious.
  16. Well.....one minute, there is the absolute underestimation of a terrorist threat here is the USA and the notion that we are more likely to die of heart attacks, then there are our interests abroad as they affect a geopolitical balance of power. The Iranian regime since 1979 has shown a propensity for torture, mass killings, political dissidence of it's people, the stoning of women, the murder of gays, war, collusion with Russia, Venezuela, North Korea and any bad actor they can find. They have funded murderous activities in Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Egypt and in Europe. They have far fewer natural resources than many of their neighbors and their GDP is a 10th that of Saudi Arabia. Now they want to meddle in strategic influence over the Persian Gulf waterways and Suez traffic. Who does this? Now if you want to find another one of your "America is bad" moral equivalencies, it ain't flying'. Sure we meddle all over the middle east, sure we kill people, sure we struggle to maintain order and influence, but do we steal? Do we usurp responsibility of restoring democracy, no matter how difficult? Does Iran, with all of their foreign activities, send doctors and researchers to to Nigeria in the fight against Ebola? Does Iran give a tenth of their GDP to foreign aid? No....they have been bad little Persians for almost 50 years, they have destabilized a major strategic section of the planet and now want the bomb. Anybody else in that region spinning centrifuges? There are no missile bases in Iraq with first strike nuclear capability and not in any of the other countries you mentioned except (my guess) Israel and absolutely Turkey. A 36 hour convoy from Germany would have that solved in under a week. If we were still in Iraq and we had a more competent leader in office, none of these disasters would be happening. And are they disasters? Proof of my point? Obama now has to return to Iraq for a "clean up on isle five" less than two years after he and his lemmings arrogantly refused to listen to the very intelligence and military communities that serve them.
  17. This is correct and we know the Arab Spring is an abject failure and it was the day it was characterized as such. Horrific consequences, that were foreseen well in advance, by Republican policy makers. Problem is, POTUS is hedging his bets on Iran instead of stabilizing the region with missile and air bases in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Israel. Which religious theocracy suits our interests? Certainly not Iran.
  18. Better hang on to Linda.
  19. I like the generator idea, but even Reiff's highest wattage heater will take a good two hour run (I am not a fan of contact electrical heaters that use that much power). Tanis...6 hours.
  20. Cruiser should chime in here. He was recently charged $35 to plug his preheater cord in at a well-known national FBO. He was livid.
  21. Probably sold new for $3k. Barn find...AWESOME!!!!! Even if it had the 3/8's valves and guides, there's still great value, even with a top, you think Jim?
  22. Stopping by for a little self affirmation....you and Phantom and two or three others..a little fly-by. Bring ideology or merit or..... mosy on to being a know-it-all on another thread. Problem with pilots? They are all smarty pants and never succeeded at much else. Oooops....sorry Daver...didn't mean it like that, but you get the idea.
