  1. We've been attempting to gather quotes for repairs on a 63 M20c and are having a hard time reaching mechanics. We want to find a few to make sure we get the best price possible, and I'm wondering if there is some sort of aircraft mechanic directory somewhere? I've tried looking online but haven't had much luck, just wanted to check here in case I was missing something.
  2. Hello All had a gear up on taxiway at KCEW this week. 78 M20J interested in recommendations on repair. prop will need to be replaced was non moving incident so not sure of engine tear down I am seeking any advice you can give or recommendations as to shops would be appreciated no injuries left gear will need some repair right gear seems ok but obviously will need inspection Nose gear too Looking for top quality repair shop may be ferriable thanks cej
  3. I flew from Texas to northern Michigan in my friend's plane this weekend. When we stopped at the airport on Mackinac Island, we saw a stranded Mooney on the ramp. The prop was bent and chewed up and there was metal damage underneath consistent with the plane having been on it's belly. It's currently sitting on it's gear. The FAA website shows the owner address is on the island. So how do you get your plane fixed on an island with no cars, no FBO, no fuel, etc? I know there is an FBO at St Ignace in the U.P. With a very helpful A&P. Can they ferry a new engine/prop or just crate the plane and put it on the ferry? I hope he can get it fixed soon.
  4. Looks like a gear up with a prop strike; the right main was extended ever so slightly at about 10 degrees. (It's hard to see the prop strike from the photos, but it was clearly present.) Anyone know what happened? Hopefully everyone is ok.
  5. It is official I am finally in receipt of a Certified Letter stating: “that reexamination of your ability to exercise the privileges of your Private Pilot, Airplane Single Engine Land Certificate with an Instrument Airplane Rating conducted on December 10, 2013 was satisfactory……” I am thankful to have this matter closed and behind me, but more than that I wanted to thank everyone who provided a wealth of great recommendations and especially my thanks going out to those that provided kind support!
