  1. I remember affordable avionics in Chino wanted over $500 to do this without the software upgrade… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Glen, Can you share with us what you’re getting for $70k? I know Garmin tends to do a bit of price fixing with their dealers most of the time, but I’m curious as to what items you’re installing and what the services are Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. When I spent several weeks back there with Mike Miles, Bill Grebe, Todd, Wes, Stacy, michael Knese, Mr Wheat, Barry and the bunch… I was told many of the molds for vintage mooneys were “sold to mexico” for lead scrap. Tigger the military trainer prop is gone somewhere … So much infrastructure gone over the years. Afterwards an Australian cat came over, then the Chinese came over and then and then and then… We love our airplanes, but frankly Mooney as a factory has been raped and pillaged over the years. I’d love to watch them succeed but I just don’t expect it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Soooo Take the link down instead of looking like you’re lame… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. How much effort does it take to maintain an online store / cart? That’s pretty basic …. If you close down the avenues to get revenue, how can anyone financially support you? Maybe they’ll chime in … Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Mooney charges an obscene amount of money for that viton gasket of 1/8” (I believe) which you can readily manufacture as an owner produced part. Love the factory but …really? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Soooo ….Bendix King relinquished the avionics market to Garmin, and we are holding our breath for the Chinese supply chain to cater to BK so Trutral can come to market? I really really really want alternatives to Garmin more than anyone. But really?
  8. Anyone have a copy of the latest K model and E model / vintage guides? I tried Jimmy a couple of times but no dice …. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Name a gps vendor who owns more than 10 percent of the market ….besides Garmin….that make was GPS hardware. rhe notion that Araim will result in lower cost hardware is great…I would j]ust prefer more genuine competition versus the real monopoly currently held by Garmin
  10. Where’s Johnny in all this? I remember him posting with a lot of enthusiasm some time back while asking for support … Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. D17S. Nice Beechcraft staggerwing. A cool 350-500k Lancair propjet. A bit over a mil. Aerostar…it ain’t the acquisition costs… Truth be told I stopped at St Angelo and that T38 nasa was flying wouldn’t be a bad deal. And you can even buy them in the open market - heck. I’ve even seen a4 scooters for sale… Some nice polished Beech 18’s outthere…how many hundreds of gallons of fuel per flight? I’d take paul Allen’s former mig29… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Dang. Why not some alumi prep, alodine, corlar and Imron? Sooo muuuuch wooooorkkk but so nice looking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Lol. I just paid an insane amount of money for a fuel gasket made out of Viton. Really? This is why people don’t support a factory that unreasonably prices it’s goods. Viton- literally a 2 minute cut. Sad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. While I’m for repair some time back, my mechanic developed a number of health issues and died. His employees and accountant cleaned him out, and part of the clean out included a number of parts for my K model. My 262 had the split seats that Slide Over the fold-down seat panels, and I’m trying to get the seats reupholstered. Anyone have a rear seat I could borrow to have them made? I have bottom cushions- and I have the mooney cut foam rear seat foam, but I think there is also the plastic insert molded for the seat back, right? Thank you…
  17. People hate us out of sheer ignorance. ”flying is for the rich” - bought a two seater in annual for $13k. Picking up another tomorrow for $16k. Bought a 4 seater for $30. For the rich? I bet you mommy spent more on you when she bought that Escalade with knockoffs for you. “GA are parasites” - you don’t get to have your cake and eat it too. Garmin lied when they overdramatized the burgeoning growth of aviation (instead of shrinkage) and demanded ADSB for my grandpa’s airplane in a mode C veil or class A airspace. We pay our taxes through gas. You don’t get to be a lying sack of garbage charging me gas taxes AND user fees - that’s the California way of making me pay for a freeway, charging me to build a carpool lane, and then take it away by leasing it to your buddies so they can make me pay for things a third time with Fastpass pretending I didn’t notice. When I can pull up to an airline gate with my J3, then you can complain. Otherwise, suck it. Besides, this ADSB you so clamored for should give you plenty of reason to use less controllers. “GA is not green” - we fly one or two people at a time with more gas efficiency than your bad azz f150. “GA isn’t safe” Let’s look at the numbers of car accidents per operation versus the number of airplane accidents per operation. Hmmm yeah, won’t bode well for cars. “Europe has a great pay as you go system” - then move to Europe. It sucks to fly there. Pay to taxi in places, permit for each country, pay to file and fly, yeahno. If you like communism and socialism, China and Russia will welcome you. frankly the age of Facebook and Instagram ruling people’s lives, choices and activities has pretty much turned me into a grumpy old man. Get off my lawn! Younger generations have questionable to non existent skills, instead enthusiastically pointing to the bare few members of their group that achieve while ignoring the vast masses that do not. My IA friends, my engine overhauler buds, my high time pilot buddies and my old school airplane paint performers are all artists, engineers and achievers in their own right. Intellectually lazy younger generations without curiosity or creativity beyond the keyboard and coding continue to give away our freedoms. Do I, having been raised in Europe, have strong feelings about user fees? Hmmm just a tad.
  18. What city are you in? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. As the title reads. Looking to pull an engine… Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Powder coating engine mounts is not advised as it seems to hide visible cracks ….. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I was born on Wednesday ….but it wasn’t last Wednesday Jimmy is an awesome guy to reach for that! He will point you exactly in the right direction, and hopefully make some great Margin in the process …. No deals to be had here…
  22. A card carrying CB would learn to paint his own airplane and buy the supplies to do it- specially when he owns more than one And get his teachers to donate him several cans of aviation Imron …. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Last transaction I did with them on three separate airplanes last week they were quoting August 23, and they stated they have a class of 8 registration agents going through class. I won’t hold my breath yesterday they were quoting October. Your trillions of tax dollars at work remember the good old days when we didn’t have to pay for registration? Now they keep talking about charging for IFR and even VFR operations as they do in Europe, your gas tax be damned… One thing that works really well to avoid the mess is using the newly released Cares.FAA.gov website launched last week. They will take digitally signed documents and accept payment on the spot, still giving themselves 9 months to do the work their website claims: “Aircraft registration processing takes between 16 and 20 working days from the day the documents are received in the Aircraft Registration Branch.” https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/aircraft_certification/aircraft_registry/registration_aircraft_committed_internation_operation The great thing about “cares” is that the feds are able to see the document immediately, foregoing the need for FedEx, payment is instant, so all they have to do is… Push the paper. 24. On K models: - There are 231’s. Ok. Some of these may have aftermarket intercoolers and waste gates - There are 252’s - the factory improved 231’s with Intercoolers and very nice waste gates - There are 231’s converted to 252’s …just like a 252 except the aircraft runs at 14v instead of 28v. These are often known as 261’s or 262’s depending on what vendor sold the STC. Functionally the exact same as 252’s with the exception they can’t be STC’d to encores. I own a 262. - Then there are 252 Encores, which have the 220HP engine with the higher weight limits. In other words, you may not want to limit your search to strictly factory 252’s. There are some nice 261/262’s to be had outthere. If you’re a baller, go all out and find an encore - but your budget is blown. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Confirmed. When opted to not send money, our friendly catfish became not so friendly. Also logged in as user “crankshaft” Again, be mindful of catfish who post things for sale. Stay safe, everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
