  1. I came across this today at KIMM during a fuel stop.
  2. 3 degrees at 150kts is not insignificant.
  3. Interestingly, my JPI probe and Garmin are two degrees off when I take a reading in a closed hangar with static air with no sunlight. When I quizzed others on MS about that, the response fro more than once was that the Garmin accounts for ram rise in its design. Even when I adjust the JPI display to match the Garmin, they eventually don’t agree in flight.
  4. Are buffalo burgers still on the menu there?
  5. The reason I asked in the first place was whether to put the cover on when I drop her off.
  6. When not being worked on, is the plane parked outside or is it always in the hangar?
  7. Interesting you mentioned that. Mine was originally mounted in the tail, on a specially made shelf, and it just wouldn't calibrate properly. I finally threw in the towel and paid for it to be placed in the right wing, where the reading is now dead-on.
  8. My plane is on Edison's schedule for the middle of August. Just a ten minute hop for me.
  9. Amen brother.
  10. My partners and I opted to purchase the full relay pack because none of us had the knowledge nor the skill level to replace just a single relay, and based on comments here on MS, the forty year old relay is no longer available. I was lucky enough to find one on the shelf at a local MSC.
  11. I had the identical problem and it too turned out to be the relay. Where were you able to find a relay pack? The factory back in December was quoting a seven month lead time.
  12. Glad your hunny is doing well. Although I wrote very briefly about it back in January when it happened, I too fell off the wing. While deplaning I missed the step and fell flat on my back. My immediate reaction was to move my legs around and flex my hips, which were fine. The incident resulted in immediate spasm of all my lower back muscles, which eventually cleared up about four weeks later, but not without considerable discomfort. I have a friend who is an orthopedic surgeon and I visited him to get everything checked out. Only through the grace of God did I not break something, especially since I have severe osteoporosis (T -2.5). As for insurance, last month I learned the hard way that it is a necessity. Exactly 24 hours before my wife and I were to depart for a week in St Maarten, I got a call that my 93 year old dad was in the hospital. American Airlines wasn't terribly sympathetic to my woes. Lesson learned and for now on I will purchase coverage for the non-refundable portions of trips, which isn't terribly expensive.
  13. The luncheons are a lot of fun. The experience of the owners who attend will be enough to answer any and all questions that you may have.
  14. I don't mind flying at Cessna speeds as long as I know I can get out.
  15. Reviving this old thread.. I recently found myself once again unable to retract the flaps, only after a whole lot of shaking of the panels did they finally go back up. Should this have happened at an airport without any services, could the plane be flown out with flaps down?
  16. You don't suppose these guys are related, do you?
  17. If you have tethering service through your phone and are traveling with a laptop, you can turn on the Hotspot feature and plug the cord into the USB port on your laptop for instant access.
  18. I didn't always agree with Reagan, but his enthusiasm for the future of the country was contagious. And he was correct when he said "you ain't seen nothing yet" at a time when a lot of people were saying the best days were behind us, just as there are many today. I am, and have always been very bullish on the USA. When millions were liquidating their accounts in 2008, I was on a buying spree and it paid off in spades. Never bet against the United States of America.
  19. Why go back to the 19th century? Comparing the Republicans of today from those of the Reagan era is like night and day.
  20. That is broad. Did you donate to "Stop the steal"?
  21. I always think of the scene from the film "Apollo 13" where the co2 dial is increasing. While the space that they were confined to was not tremendous, who would think that simply exhaling would actually cause their own deaths? Thankfully the techno-dweebs on the ground put their heads together to come up with a workable solution.
  22. I can say emphatically, with 100% confidence that the intensity has increased over the past few decades. Absolutely, and thinking otherwise is being disingenuous. As you are well aware (or should be), sea temperatures are the fuel and the increase has had a direct impact. You point to the "deadliest" being in 1900, but did you ever give any thought to the fact that other than watching a barometer plunge there was no way of knowing one was approaching? Floridian's like myself start gluing our eyes to the screen the moment the National Hurricane Center spots a thunderstorm forming off the west coast of Africa. Walk a mile in my shoes and you may just change your mind.
  23. Some of your questions could be answered by my fellow Floridian's who are paying 5 digit homeowners insurance premiums. I consider myself lucky in only paying high 4 figures for a three year old house that is built like a fortress to weather any storm that nature can throw at it.
