I don't mind flying at Cessna speeds as long as I know I can get out.

Reviving this old thread.. I recently found myself once again unable to retract the flaps, only after a whole lot of shaking of the panels did they finally go back up. Should this have happened at an airport without any services, could the plane be flown out with flaps down?

I didn't always agree with Reagan, but his enthusiasm for the future of the country was contagious. And he was correct when he said "you ain't seen nothing yet" at a time when a lot of people were saying the best days were behind us, just as there are many today. I am, and have always been very bullish on the USA. When millions were liquidating their accounts in 2008, I was on a buying spree and it paid off in spades. Never bet against the United States of America.

I always think of the scene from the film "Apollo 13" where the co2 dial is increasing. While the space that they were confined to was not tremendous, who would think that simply exhaling would actually cause their own deaths? Thankfully the techno-dweebs on the ground put their heads together to come up with a workable solution.

I can say emphatically, with 100% confidence that the intensity has increased over the past few decades. Absolutely, and thinking otherwise is being disingenuous. As you are well aware (or should be), sea temperatures are the fuel and the increase has had a direct impact. You point to the "deadliest" being in 1900, but did you ever give any thought to the fact that other than watching a barometer plunge there was no way of knowing one was approaching? Floridian's like myself start gluing our eyes to the screen the moment the National Hurricane Center spots a thunderstorm forming off the west coast of Africa. Walk a mile in my shoes and you may just change your mind.

This does not qualify as an answer to my question because it hasn't been proven to be true (yet). What I was looking for are long held conspiracy theories that proved to be actually true. For example, if the CIA was found to have been behind the JFK assassination, or that little green men were found to have landed in Roswell. Those would have satisfied my question.

Sounds about right.

Very much true, but this story will eventually go away. Hourly coverage of the border will not. Breaking news, Fox settled with Dominion for $787 million. I just tuned into Fox to see how they would spin it and they did. Neil Cavuto (who I watch and like a lot) read a statement and said that "Fox admits to no wrongdoing and acknowledges the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false". $787 million ain't chump change.
-
For those conspiraciasmists out there, let me be the first to break the news to you that Fox is being sued by Dominion Voting Systems and the trial started today. The trial has something to do with Fox not reporting all of the facts that it knew were to be true about the 2020 election. Fox hasn't uttered a single word about this over the past 18 months (and employees were forbidden to mention it), so there was absolutely no way of you knowing about it. But do not fret because they are still reporting on the situation at the border at the top of each hour.

I actually have. I feed the GTN 750 Winds/TAS utility with the required data (ie, CAS, Baro) using the temp from the trusty old factory OAT and the calculated wind/speed is very close to that of the GI 275. It's not always identical due to difficulty getting an accurate reading from the old pointer.
-
Interesting subject. I have a GI 275 ADI and the OAT probe is mounted in the NACA scoop. Reading responses on the subject led me to believe that there would be a huge difference in temperature readings, which worried me because I love the wind speed and direction display that the -275 affords me. Now here's the rub, when landing I always compare the towers (or AWOS) wind speed and direction and the -275 agrees exactly with what is reported, even when the sun is shining on the probe. If the OAT was inaccurate, I would expect the display to be way off, but it isn't. Maybe OAT isn't a factor in the air data computer calculation?

I think I'm the only other person here with you. For the past decade I've been fascinated by the sheer number of MS members that lean towards the right. It may be that left leaning members just don't post, but based on the content here, I would say 95% of contributors are conservative. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ah, you meant that you "disengage" the A/P.

Surely you must be joking.

Intermittent delayed gear retraction
flyboy0681 replied to blue eagle's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I had pretty much the identical problem last year, delayed retraction and ultimately, no retraction. This occurred a few weeks before annual and had it investigated at that time. In the end it turned out to be the relay pack. The factory gave a lead time of six months for a new one, but after calling several Mooney service centers nationwide I was able to locate one, ironically, 10 miles from me. Hopefully your situation is different because the cost will give you a coronary. -
1978 M20J, N6201Y Price dropped to $149,900
flyboy0681 replied to Ross Statham's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
Is it really worth $165k? My '83 has just about the same amount of total time and 275 hours SMOH with new cylinders, plus a GTN 750, GI 275 ADI and KAP 150. I wouldn't have estimated its value anywhere near that. Maybe I just don't know the current market? -
I knew there had to be a simple explanation. Thanks for the tip!

Correct, 750 Classic.
