  1. Over the last seven years, I have used the -ls and -nl starters, replaced the battery, magnetos, and the "Shower of Sparks". My experience/opinion is as follows: 1. Check battery first. I had a battery that would crank all day, but not reach the peak amps to throw over the prop fast enough to start. 2. don't even think of considering the -ls starter it was a total waste of money. (the -nl starter is much better, and the sky-tech folks are really great to work with) 3. Magnetos timing can drift. This affects the ease of starting. (it was supposedly a real fluke. The two mechanics with about 70 yrs combined experience had never seen this before) 4. there are "shower of sparks" and there are what I call "light drizzle of sparks" Changing out a $3 condenser by replacing the $450 unit is worth every penny. I am never sure what makes the plane start good. It appears to be a crap shoot. But if you follow cruiser's protocol, it works best. good luck, PS, if anyone is interested, I have a whole bunch of spare parts that may or may not work.....
  2. Out of curiosity, I had my plane weighed last year just to determine who much weight she had put on over the years. (original weight and balance was just updated with calculations over the years) Anyways, of course she had put on quite a bit of weight. What I found surprising was that the CG had moved forward more than 1.5 inches. Now, of course I have never knowingly flown her outside the envelope, but with the new numbers, it is quite possible to load her up with my big fat butt and another one my size (or larger) and be possibly outside the forward CG limit. my old cg was 45.53 the "as weighed" is 43.91. I have a 3 blade prop, but also a skytech starter and planepower alternator. (it should approximately offset) What are your CG numbers?
  3. I was not in the USA until yesterday. Maybe next year.
  4. four senders? IIRC, we only had two on our 64 E.
  5. I would recommend dynamically balancing the prop. It made mine pretty silky smooth.. If you get they correct rpm and mp, I think you will get more vibration. But from what I can tell, the two bladed ones are louder and have more vibration.
  6. There are several pullies, etc that can use lubrication. You may also want to check the condition of the cable. If it is frayed, it tends to bind.

    IPAD MINI

This is the one that I use. It allows me to "clamp" it down even with the case on the mini. http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-universal-x-grip-iii-ipad-tablet-cradle-ram-hol-un9u.html
  8. Both t41 and KEFD have multiple runways. Kefd may have better access to rental cars,
  9. I used quite a few plastic parts from PP, but they fit well and needed minimal trimming. They look very good. Most of the original parts fit well, but tend to be warped and brittle or broken. I would recommend them.
  10. Had edison do a complete reseal on my E. It looks like he did a pretty good job. (The plane had never been actually resealed since it left the factory in '64) There were MANY patches in various condition.......
  11. Check your email. You pretty much know my situation...... craig
  12. chrisk Been in and out of Kpsn dozens of times, but have never seen a balloon. Wonder when they launch them.
  13. Done. The forum is terrific.
  14. The annual inspection itself usually is not that much. The new interior, avionics, and other "while we are at it"s are whole different story.
  15. Sorry to double post, but I cannot figure out how to edit the post. Another related question is how old are your gear donuts? I was told that if they are old and hard, you will be looking at tank leaks in the not too distant future.
  16. Sounds like bladders might be best in your case.
  17. I second the recommendation on the led. They are really good and do not burn your fingers when you need to move them. I have the originals in the hangar somewhere...
  18. Switzerland, (but mooney is in USA.)
  19. I still like my clarity aloft's. very comfortable and clear.
  20. Look up jet driven. On this site.
  21. When we redid 7929v, we used plane plastics for the side panels and the panel. The lower side panels (cardboard) we cut out from new plastic using the old as patterns and covered with leather. It came out pretty nice. The plane plastics parts were superior in fit and quality to the originals.
  22. Plane plastics carries most versions.
  23. My 64E they are. Not a bad idea to rotate the seats every few years to assure even wear.
