  1. 10 more pages! we must beat taking off without flaps!
  2. You are just trying to cause trouble. I think we have argued about this in the past.
  3. Yes, I managed to avoid taxes until I filled out the mandatory re-registration form. One week later I got a letter from the Arizona department of revenue. Airplane owners all have a big target on their backs. They don't realize that if we had any extra money we would have bought a bigger plane....
  4. Just fix the end at the fuel servo. Replace with rod end if it has a ball and socket. Run the engine up and see what MP it switches (use a volt meter). Adjust the rod end until it switches at the proper MP. Just make sure it will go from idle to WOT.
  5. Pilots are some of the cheapest people I've ever met. There is a guy at the airport who owns a half a million dollars worth of aircraft and drives a thirty year old Toyota.
  6. When I used flooded cell batteries I would use a sacrificial anode in the battery box. It seemed effective at eliminating terminal corrosion. Throw a couple of pennies in the bottom of the battery box before you put the battery in.
  7. There are no published service manuals for the selector. But all the orings are standard and it is easy to figure out the correct part. They are not hard to take apart.
  8. Buy a RG battery. I haven't had any corrosion problems sense I started using them. When I was using wet cell batteries I had to remove the battery box, strip and reprint it every few years.
  9. Where is it leaking from?
  10. I have an m20turbo separator. It was on the plane when I bought it. My plane uses about a quart in 25 hours. I've never ran this engine without it, so I don't know how much the separator helps. The best I got out of any of the three engines I had on my M20F was about a quart in 10 hours.
  11. Use our local company, just off the field at KCHD http://www.curtissuperiorvalve.com
  12. If it is a fatal accident don't you die?
  13. Hours on motorcycles are like hours in airplanes. I have continuously owned a street motorcycle sense I was 15. I have had 4 fairly serious motorcycle accidents, in two of them I got injured pretty good. My last motorcycle accident was in 1977, I learned how to ride without killing my self. (knock on wood)
  14. If you only fly on beautiful sunny days with little wind and make sure you have plenty of gas and oil, you will be safer then driving an auto. IMHO....
  15. OK, I have about 5100 total and about 4500 in Mooneys. About 1200 in turbo Mooneys.
  16. My point exactly. As for cost, I can operate the Mooney for about the same as an airfare with just me in it on most routes.
  17. I used my plane to commute. Driving more then 10 minuets would have made the plane flight take longer then the drive. The days that I had to buy fuel actually made the flight take longer then the drive. I always look at the radius that I can beat the airlines. I currently break even at about San Francisco. Any further then that the airlines win. The Mooney wins because I can be airborne in 20 min from my front door. If I had to drive two hours to get to the plane there is no way to justify using it as a transportation machine. If you just want to fly for the fun of it buy a Cub. (I'm going to catch hell for this one)
  18. We call mine Mr Mooney. I know most of them are girls, but mine is a boy.
  19. If it is a mistake in the manual then why does everyone have a 24V bulb?
  20. It sounds like the last place I worked. There are people who go to meetings and there are the people who do the work. The two groups rarely talk. I've been members of both. I prefer to be the latter. At least you know you have accomplished something instead of just taking credit for other peoples work...
  21. I use aluminum tape to mask for stripping.
  22. A Mooney with 2 dead cylinders.
  23. Champion 7EC Piper J5C crusier This is easy shall I go on.
  24. Never underestimate your own ability to screw up.
  25. I have had 2 cases fixed by Divco in the last 30 years. Neither of them ever had any issues of any kind after the repair. The one they couldn't fix had spider cracks everywhere around the alternator mount. it is a wonder it didn't fall out.
