I practiced stalls shortly after I had my J model refurbished. Felt I needed to know what the real stall speed numbers were for my Mooney. Really a non event, normal recovery every time, even though I have done aerobatics's in a Citabria I did not want to practice any spins or any other unusual maneuvers.

At the end of the day what ever you are selling is worth what someone is willing to pay, in my experience it's sometimes the first offer that is always the best. If someone is in need of a prop that person will search the market determine the best value based on cost of shipping, convenience and how much they like or trust the individual. A lot of sellers are very proud of what they own and can afford to hang on to the inventory, others not so.

I just completed my import and all I did was let the local AME handle the inspections and annual. No need to do any export C of A's. I found a reputable MDM who audited the paper work and sent it on to TC and issued the C of A. FBCK is right about making sure all is original, and make sure you have complete logs. TC feels it should be brought into Canada the same way as it left the factory.

Same thing happened on my J, it was the cable from the crank to gear actuator. Dan at LASAR found one right away. Eldon

IPAD VERSUS ANDROID OR OTHERS, FOREFLIGHT ETC
jezzie replied to jezzie's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Thanks for all the info, went out and bought an ipad 4, seems like the best choice. I'll let you know how I made out, -
Now that I have my Mooney home, it's time to do some serious flying. I have my required paper charts which is OK, but would like some input from users about the following. Which is best / easiest to use? IPAD or Android or others. I know it gets down to personal preference, however it would be helpful to get opinions from users of these products. Now seems to be a good time to buy with all the sales during this Christmas season. I have read that some ipads get hot or don't have good battery life. How do some of the other generic or similar products perform? I have seen many threads about what software products work the best. Looks like fore flight now has Canadian charts. Any suggestions regarding software is also appreciated. Because I have a GTN750 Is it worth while to get some sort of flight following or GPS on any portable device. Thanks for all your help, I do appreciate it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone, enjoy your time with your family and friends. Eldon (JEZZIE)

FLYING IS ONLY FUN WHEN YOU ARE ALONE OR WITH SOMEBODY, OR AS MY BROTHER ONCE SAID "IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD ALL OVER MORE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE"

Happened to me in my 77J model. Selected gear up only went 1/2 way, Gear unsafe light was flashing, had to do a manual gear extension only about 1/2 the normal turns. We put it up on jacks and we found a loose wire on the gear up limit switch. We tried to replicate the situation by playing with the loose wire and could not get the unsafe gear light to flash. Secured the loose wire and did 7 gear cycles plus a manual extension and all was as it should be.I too would be interested if any one else has had similar experiences.

I did get the necessary paper work complete and flew my Mooney back to my home base with the gear down. I am still going through in my mind the events that led to this situation. I can now get my Mooney up on jacks and see what is happening. My new to me Mooney and this experience has produced a new determination to know more. Just wished I lived closer to San Antonio, Kerrville, Lakeport, Sacramento, Willmar or Longview. Thank you for all your help and input, it seems that in this neck of the woods I have to take the lead and educate the AME's, and they get to send me an invoice for my time and theirs.

The between the seats bell crank indicator did not light up, that was actually the first thing I looked for before and after the emergency gear extension. I talked to my AME after I landed and he thought perhaps a switch failed, won't know till we get it up on jacks.

I need some help from all the Mooney maintenance professionals. The AME that I use works on mostly other airplanes. Here is what happened. I was bringing myself current with solo night landings tonight and on the fourth take off after establishing 80 kt climb selected gear up and flaps up. Flaps retracted properly but did not hear or feel the usual comforting sound that the gear makes and the red gear unsafe light would not go out. I tried to recycle the gear a few times and nothing. It became evident I had a potential issue with the gear. I turned the auto pilot on and selected heading hold and altitude hold and performed the emergency procedure and started turning the gear crank expecting to have the normal 110 turns and then see the gear safe light come on. I don’t think I got much past 40 to 50 turns and then the gear crank just would not turn any more. But still no green light Off to the International airport, they had more lights and emergency equipment. The flight took about 20 minutes and I was starting to feel fairly sure that the gear was down or at least the nose gear was down because my feet and legs were getting cold, plus at 80 to 90 kts and low power settings you could hear the noise of the air over the gear and it felt like the gear was down. After three passes at the International airport and after shining big spotlights at me as I flew over they confirmed that all three wheels were down, and I made an uneventful landing. After shutting the engine down and did a quick check of the gear and it all looked normal. I would like some advice and pointers Here are my thoughts and questions. 1. When I selected gear up the unsafe light just stayed on. 2. Is there some sort of safety mechanism in place that the gear will not retract if one of the gear switches malfunction? 3. I was expecting to turn the crank for 110 turns, and knew how that feels cause I did an emergency gear extension before I flew my Mooney home. 4. Perhaps the gear didn’t even retract. 5. No circuit breakers had blown. 6. After landing I crawled under the plane and confirmed the gear knuckles were in the over center position. 7. If the gear was down and locked why could I not get the normal green gear light? 8. I had a complete gear actuator overhaul completed and this perhaps was my 30th landing, I just did not expect to have any gear problems. Eldon M20J C-GJEZ

I now have 10 hours and at least 20 landings on my J model, and seem to be settling down to 70 kts on final and I notice that all my landings are progressively getting better. My trim appears to be all the way back on my best landings and my Mooney just seems to settle down with ground effect, no problems and no stess on the gear. I must admit the new rubber disks make me look better also for thse who are flying with me.
