  1. I think most of the dorm facilities are located right in Oshkosh either at some schools or college campuses. You may have to contact EAA directly. In the alternative you can go on Craigs List or Kijiji and look for places to stay in Oshkosh or Appleton or your choice of offsite airport. A lot of people give up their homes for the week during Air Venture. In 2009 we were able to get a great home 10 min away just from searching Graigs List cost was only $100 a night which was a lot better than the $250 the motels were charging.
  2. Your design is great which paint shop did you use?
  3. One of my best friends who obtained his PPL with me and of which we have shared many enjoyable hours flying and talking aviation and subsequently went on to become a Captain on 757's has imparted many words of wisdom. This one has been the most memorable, "IT IS BETTER TO HAVE TURNED BACK AS A RESULT OF A GOOD DECISION THAN TO HAVE GOTTEN THROUGH WITH LUCK"
  4. Regarding Mooney retro fit interior drawing #940129. It's real unfortunate that the factory does not have inventory of the retro fit interiors. I think if those who want one all banded together and approached the factory they may build a few. Just a thought. When I removed my interior from the K model 3 weeks ago I damaged some of the small pieces needed to make the rear seats work, and the factory had all the pieces I needed. I think any MSC could put a parts list together. As far as the new F/G panels they should be easy to replicate, not sure how you go about getting the blessings of Mooney. The retro fit interior in my opinion makes a 35 year old airplane look brand new, I am so pleased with mine, can't wait to have it installed. Thank you

  8. Ray, There are instructions that is shown on the Mooney Retro fit drawing #940129 if you decide to remove the overhead scoop as I did when I added the dorsal fin scoop. This is on page 2.0 item 4. If you want a copy of it PM me. Eldon
  9. Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas, I did some research on rechroming and I noticed a term used called Hydrogen embrittlement if the items are not heat treated properly after rechroming Is this something to be concerned about? I'm relating specifically to an entry in the work sheet on my J model where it says that the control rods were rechromed and reinstalled. Is this generally a problem with Mooney control tubes? How is it normally dealt with? Anyone had any experience or thoughts. I am waiting for an answer from my AME. Thanks for you help Eldon
  10. I had a J cowl and Lasar bought it, they should be able to help, I may have some other parts that I did not need for the Lopresti conversion, If interested I'll send you pictures of what I have left. Eldon
  11. It's good hear about the seminars, I do hope someone recorded them in such a manner that they could be duplicated and passed on to us regular folk who could'nt be their. To be able to learn from the likes of Don Maxwell and Bill Wheat would be good as well of course PGA Squared. If someone did record the sessions let me know. Enjoying all the pictures.
  12. The 34 year old Century 3 just wasn't worth fixing so I have to consider some options. What I am looking for is some recomendations. I basically want a VFR autopilot that can track GPS/VOR keep the wings level and hold altitude. My shop is selling me on the S-TEC 55X which I must admit is very nice, just not sure I want to spend that much money and I'm not IFR yet. Does any one have recomendations, which one gives the best bang for the buck? Eldon
  13. Yes the Mooney specific training I took in Palm Springs was great, so much information in 3 days, practical knowledge, the instructors so great just like family. When pracitcal I will do another. In my case one of the instructors rented me his Mooney J model and did a great job in orienting me to when my own J will be ready. Great confidence builder.
