  1. Are people dumbasses or what?!
  2. Could not agree more with both of your assertions. The fact remains that she was an icon and an inspiration to generations of pilots that came after her.
  3. Brian is stalled in NZ over a magneto issue. His spirits are high since he was able to let flying improve his mood. I especially liked this from his log: OK, flying makes up for the FedEx Monty Python sketch.
  4. 1:50 flight/warm day/KEDC->KBPT via I-10 corridor through Houston.
  5. Frankly, Amelia was not that good of a pilot. Yes, I said it. If you want to learn about a real woman pilot, read up on Beryl Markham, the first woman to successfully fly across the Atlantic from east to west, which is just a bit more difficult than west to east. What Beryl did not have was a publisher husband who spent his life promoting her. She died at the ripe old age of 83.
  6. To keep a secret like that for so many years by so many people is just preposterous to me.
  7. Just give me 11 gear pucks and I'll be happy.
  8. Shoot, here's the monitor it demands
  9. Frankly, I think you can throw it all out the (little pilot's) window. I have found with my E that I just pull back on the mixture 'til I sense a little roughness, then turn her in until it smooths out and there you have it. GAMI spread is like 0.3 per MVP-50 data and Savvyanalysis. I use the monitor to keep my CHT's in line.

    Shocks

Anybody know what Aviall gets for them? Shelf life is 1,825 days (5 yrs).
  11. Well guys, it had to happen eventually: Engineer Builds Electric Flying Chair Engineer Alex Borg has designed his own vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, and it is loud, if not impressive. According to an article from New Atlas, Borg's new project, which is chronicled on AmazingDIYProjects, is called the chAIR and it's propelled by 76 electric rotors. It takes 80 batteries to get this thing in the air for all of 12 minutes. His first flight only lasted eight minutes, but landed much better than his eight-rotor version that he crashed last year. According to Borg, he was surprised by the amount of vibration he experienced in his seat, which was made out of Styrofoam and a piece of fishing pole. He also noted that he chose not to fly any higher because, "I do not believe in reincarnation."
  12. He has chosen wisely.
  13. Speed is only part of the equation. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but when I rotate and shoot up off the runway in my E I always, every time, get a SEG. I don't know why, must be genetic or something. I get the same thing when I drive my AMG, especially when I've been away and driving a rental.
  14. Biturbo; i.e., twin-turbo, one on each side of the engine.
  15. My AMG has the most powerful <stock> 4 cyl engine on the planet. 2L, 475 Hp, 0-60 in 4.2 secs. Hand assembled by a guy in Affalterbach, Germany. I can't imagine what that car would do with 700 Hp.
  16. My E came with one, 'cause it's Super. It's a must-have in Tejas. Catches the prop flow so it works right after start-up.
  17. It's going to fill your cabin with very humid air because it doesn't have a heat exchanger, which the B-Kool does. Also, with no hose to direct air, there won't be much cooling on you, humid or otherwise, one reviewer complained about the strength of the fan. Of course, with HD you can just buy it, try it and return it if not happy.
  18. ...and then get in a Mooney for a few hours?
  19. Those two of the outside are really spectacular! I especially liked the sun glint off the spinner.
  20. Mistress. The queen hates her. Frankly, I do love lavishing attention and spending quality time with her (the mistress that is). Don't get me wrong, the queen is fun, but sometimes you just want to be alone with an airplane. It's good to be the king.
