  13. I'm a crazy Mooney driver and I am based at Nut tree airport (KVCB) with a C model!! You can pm me or email me at my username @ yahoo/gmail/hotmail! My airplane is dirty right now so give me a day or so haha! That's what happens when you play in the dirt/grass!
  14. OMG!! IF you can't handle doing stalls please don't even takeoff! That scares the crap out of me knowing someone is scared to fly an airplane to it's limits. If you know your airplane and get comfortable with stalls you will have good landings consistantly and you'll also be more comforable on shorter fields. Wooo.... now I'm worried!
  15. If you don't watch real closely where you taxi that can happen! Once I slow down my eyes are pinned on the direction and surface I taxi over.
  16. Honestly, my biggest dings on my prop have all come from operations on hard surfaces! I'm pretty slow with power on non hard surfaces to avoid sucking up stuff. I will say the flaps behind the wheel have a few little dings but you can get those from little pebbles at asphalt fields too. And yes it takes a lot of flying to be proficient!
  17. LOL!!! That's funny! But it's the least of my concern. I love taking the plane places that are fun and it's worth any extra cost. It's like having a rally car but never taking it off road! I love going to fly in's and then beating all my buddies home! for those that are curious about the places I got just go to youtube and type in piperpainter
  18. Don't do what? Use an airplane for what it's perfectly capable of? Haven't you seen that down in Australia it's actually normal to operate our Mooney's on dirt/gravel/grass! Even the nicest aircraft such as the Acclaim. I think we have to many people that are pre-madonas with their Mooney's in the US. Get out and fly these girls, they love all types of surfaces....minus big rocks 2"+ or so in diameter!
  19. Now that is a fact!! Watch out for short strips and wet grass haha
  20. No need to take off the doors. The plane does just fine even in taller grass. I.e 1ft or so! I've landed in many many places much shorter than 3000ft and taken off soon after. The Mooney does fine just fly get your slow flight down really well. Also don't be afraid to slip the plane, but remember to keep the nose down, or airspeed up when you do that. I slip all over the place in my bird. I The shortest i've been in my airplane with a load was 1500ft and 3000ft MSL. Shortest was 900ft @ 400ft MSL or 1100ft @ 5000ft MSL. THe plane is capable, its the pilot that needs to be good! Good luck and fly safe!
  21. I'll do my best to get a trip report together when I return! I'll be doing one on AOPA for sure!
  22. I'll be going to La Paz, Baja Mexico on the 24th. Can't wait! I tried to go in Dec but I discovered my Turn coordinator failed as I was taxiing for takeoff. I had even made sandwiches to eat in flight! Can't wait till next week!
  23. This is what I use! I added the numbers in the red as estimates because the POH didn't have data in those areas! I have this in an Excel sheet if you'd like it. I printed it and then laminated it. So I have a "Takeoff data chart!" If I can takeoff in a place I can land there so I never worry about landing distance!
  24. If you haven't already purchased your own Jack pads you can get a set from LASAR that fit in the whole for the tiedown but it's a jack pad & tie down together. So I don't have to ever remove them when I jack them. I mean if you're going to spend money on a new plane, why not buy some new fun toys!
  25. I never have problem with my oil filter! I mean I do have the remote air filter mod! SOOO worth the money that the previous owner spent!
