  1. PS: I think it cost me about 200 bucks.
  2. Hi Ned: I had the exact same problem and i needed a Degauss. The Mooney dealer in Calgary did it for me ( Cavalier Aviation) and that ended the problem.

    oil sands

Alberts Oil sands drom the air
  4. I feel the same way...We need it too. But the reality is..sooner or later... i see some form of Mogas or Diesel in our lifes.
  5. The lead content emissions is not the only problem. There are only a few refineries left that are willing to make AvGas and the list is getting shorter all the time. Once a refinery runs a load of AvGas the cleaning process that the refinery needs to go through so they can run un-leaded again is extensive. The maunufacturers want to see it gone as much as the politicians. We are on our own in this fight and i am afraid we are going to loose sooner or later. I have been starting to look into Diesel set ups. JAX88: You are partially correct. There is a very good alternative that has been tested and patented since 1993 but the FAA and Transport Canada Etc are nowhere close to giving approval. I think we have 5 to 8 years before we start seeing AvGas being harder to obtain.
  6. JAX: ROTFLMAO... I did a web search a year or so ago to see if a Mooney has ever been on floats and was unable to find anything. I would be interested to see if anybody else finds something. I have my doubts it could be done.
  7. i would like to hear the outcome of that also. I have a brand new prop, hub, spinner etc and i see a little bit on the back of my prop every now and again too and was told it is perfectly normal. Not as much as you have on yours though.
  8. I did it before on a 172 i used to own and would not do it again. The wear and tear put on it by renters was not worth it in my humble opinion. Nobody will look after your baby like you do.
  9. 150K for a hanger is cheap around here. The last one that sold here in Cooking lake went for 500K!!!!!!!!! And it was a piece of junk
  10. Chris: Thats a "want" not a "need" if you are in the middle of spending a fortune on putting this baby back in the air spend your cash on things you "NEED". Just my 2 cents worth since you asked.
  11. why cant i see any posts past the first page? when i click on next or page 2 all i get is a blank screen except fot the header.
  12. Scott: We are indeed all in this together. What ever effects your country has a direct impact on Canada also. We are truly brothers in arms in some cases.
  13. Scott: No insult intended.. Just humor! And as a good Canadian allow me to apologise if i did insult you......
  14. No its not just you i also cant see half the posts. I can see the first 3 or 4 postings on some strings then nothing!
  15. Hi is indeed correct. We are too polite for our own good....LOL We may have more freedom and less goverment interference in our life that the US does these days but we are taking the political correctness to new levels.
  16. Hmm.. Canada is looking more and more like the " land of the free" every day. I think it is time to remove that from the official US motto!
  17. Ned: Didnt they tell you too? apparently as recruits we were too stupid to figure it out all on our own!
  18. Arctic covers of manitoba link attached http://www.wingcovers.ca/
  19. I have a set of arctic covers. Cost about 1500 bucks new. for all 6 pieces.
  20. PArker: Aint that fun? i had an old 172 on floats for years. I got my float rating years ago. Have not used it for about 10 years but when we had a cottage back in Ontario it was the best way to get there and back for sure.
  21. how come i cant see any posts past page 1?
  22. I remember my old major telling us a hundred times " Men. today we are going to ( fill in the blank)?" so i KNOW i am male. The military told me so!
  23. I was also born into it. I was born in Scotland and both my grandfathers flew spits in WWII. My dad was military ( he was a guard at Buckinham palace) and yes he worn one of those funny hats ( a busby) and i joined the air cadets at 13. Got my pilots liscense before my drivers permit! and have never looked back. Since i was 16 i believe i have gone no longer than 6 months without owning a plane of some sort.
