  1. Hi guys: I have to agree with flydave. Even with the capabilities i would never intentionally go into known icing. It is nice to have in case you need it but dont use it just because you have it,,, if you know what i mean. russ
  2. Here's another great thing about the speed of a Mooney. We left Edmonton yesterday, went to Calgary to see a freind, then off to Banff for lunch and Jasper for supper and an overnighter, then Home to Edmonton this morining. Try doing that in a car and still be home on time for work on Monday. Russ
  3. LFOD. didnt mean to correct ya. Just thought you may want to change it since it is your tag. Piloto: As for the Pee bottles, try a thing called a "piddle pack". I used it for the grandkids. russ
  4. Great idea. PS: LFOD i think you have a typo in your saying ...dont you mean more so THAN the sea? russ
  5. Hi Guys: I put a new high intensity strobe on the belly of mine and removed the old rotating beacon and also new wingtip lights and a new white light on the tail. Not cheap. The belly strobe alone was over $1500 Canadian installed. Wingtips: $2500 installed and tail light $500 bucks ( that one was a bargain...LOL) russ
  6. First engine made it to 1850 hours but it was not looked after very well and the aircraft sat for a long time without being used. Current engine only has 200 hours and the prop, hub, spinner etc is only a month old. russ
  7. Mine was not due to a bad decision unless you count the decision the engine made to swallow a valve...LOL We were at about 500 feet when it just quit so i went straight ahead.( never even considered trying to getback) landed in a hayfield and nobody hurt and no damage to the plane. That turn back was just not possible at that altitude. The fun part was getting the plane back to the airport.
  8. Been there and done that, but in a fixed gear. We landed in a hay field and suffered no aircraft damage. If i was over water, muddy field etc. i would leave the gear up too.
  9. I was thinking of organizing a fly in for later this month (August or Early Sept.) in Alberta Canada. Close to the mountians, shopping ( for the wifes) BBQ and camping for those interested. Nice airport, paved, fuel available on the field etc. Without comitting who would be interested? russ
  10. We have a nice one here in Alberta. No fuel on site though
  11. I own and maintain a Mooney, i dont have $10 bucks just lying around...LOL russ
  12. Hi: I am new here and noticed that some people are junior members (myslef included) and some are full members. Whats the difference between the two? thanks Russ
  13. Hi: My name is RUss and i have a factory condition M20A with 2000 TT and new from the firewall forward including prop. Mostly new avionics and interior.
  14. Hi Jim: I believe it is 1050 lbs russ
  15. Hi: Thanks for the tip. I dont think we have alot of termites here in Alberta. Too cold. I have had a pre-inspection done prior to purchase and i had an annual done last month. The plane also had the wings rebuilt in Feb 2008 so i am pretty sure i am in good shape. The spars are as good as new russ C-FVAA
  16. I love my Mooney because i can go see my Grandkids in a day as opposed to the 2 day trip it was in my old '172. Last summer we did a complete Canadian cross country.
