  1. I thought it was " American Monetary Unit" either way it refers to our hard earned cash!
  2. I am insured with AON brokers. The policy is written by Lloyds/ Catlin. Hull value 60K. 1 million per seat liability, full motion/ not in motion coverage with a $250 deductible. I have over 6000 hours TT with the only rating missing being my ATP. I have noticed a number of times that the US rates are a lot lower than ours.
  3. Hi New guy: My annuals run about $2500 bucks. Insurance about 2 grand. Hanger space varies wildly from 200 bucks to 1000 bucks a month depending on where you are located unless you buy one. Oil changes about 1 grand a year. ( i go throught 4 per year based on the hours i fly ) Other than that what specific costs would you like to know about.
  4. Dave: Thats funnier than you-know-what.....
  5. I call mine " Miss Mooney" my wife calls it " Miss Money"
  6. Sleeping squirrel. First off welcome to the group and secondly, i joined the same way and i am not divorced yet!
  7. I am with most of the posts here. In my "A" model a stall is a non event. I did a few steep ones, power on and off during my checkout ride and it always was straight ahead with the ball centred. The wing never dropped at all.
  8. My max temp is 240 F ! according to the manual.
  9. My manual calls for a min of 160F oil temp.
  10. Ned: I get into Calgary about 7PM Thursday night.
  11. No joke. In the winter i can hold almost 2Kper minute to about 7 or 8 thousand feet. The speed will bleed off a little from 100 MPH down to about 90-95 MPH,but it is still pretty good. I know Eldon was pretty impressed when we went out for a flight. In the summer i can get about 1500 to 1600 a minute with no problem.
  12. Man...could i have messed that last post up any more ?.... i meant MPH...not knots on the climb out
  13. There was a problem with the spinner when they first came out but as i understand it they have resolved the problem. I have a 100 hours on mine now including a major cross country and we found no cracks at the first annual in March. I also agree with the opther posts about the speed increase... i picked up at least 5 knots and the rate of climb is about 2 thousand feet per minute at 100 mph knots now.
  14. I have one on my "A" model. Better climb, a little quieter. Mine was 9 Grand Canadian installed.
  15. Hey neddie: Way to go. I knew you were in TO but last i heard you were looking for a spot in Burlington. Karen is going home for Xmas. ( I am not) as her Dad is really sick and her sister is probably not going to see the new year. She is going home to spend what time they have left with them. I will send you a PM
  16. Come on up and get some or my next trip i will bring you some for sure. Fellow pilots are always welcome at the Anderson household. Just ask Ned! and he is not even ex-airforce but we still let him in the house...LOL
  17. Hi Capt. Welcome to our little group. But i am happy to tell you we ruined the neighbourhood LONG before you got here...LOL Me...52, Ex Canadian A/F captain. Some hair left, mostly grey.
  18. Scott: There were 6 people on board?????? on a Mooney? I will of course keep them in my thoughts but am i missing something? how could there be 6 people on board?
  19. As long as i am around 380-400 i am comfy with that. My manual says 400 is the norm.
  20. Hi Jpusser: You should be at about 9.5 gallons with that engine etc. I would go out and do a flight with full tanks and fill up again after you get back. The fuel monitor may be out of whack. Use one tank for run up , take off etc. then switch tanks and fly for an hour. When you get back measure the fuel in the tank you used for cruise ( the tank used for climb out etc will burn more than 9.5 and may be as high as 12-13). That should give you a close number to your actual burn rate.
  21. roundout: I agree completely. I have almost every rating you can get, am ex-miltary and i still scrub a flight if i am not comfortable with it. All the neat toys make some people feel invincible. "gee if the commuter turbo prop can make it so can i" is not always correct. LIke i said even with over 6000 hours i still scrub if i dont feel comfy with the weather. Get- home -itis will never get to me.
  22. My decisions are all based on my comfort level. If i dont feel comfy with the weather i dont go. You made the right choice Scott. Even if you are IFR cert and the plane is certified for known ice. if you dont feel comfortable dont do it!
  23. I see about 350-400F at 100Knots on climb out.
  24. Dave: They work well and i prefer them to the rotary type. Hank: Mine are opposite to you. i have the ball type in the ceiling and rotary in the footwells.
  25. I have the airliner ball type in my 1959 M20A
