  1. try Plane Xhaust Corporation 5485 NW 22 Ave. Tamarac, FL 33309Toll Free: 1-866-312-4122
  2. As promised the Gill 7243 sealed batteries continue to perform extremely well a year and a half since install Seems Gill may have gotten it correct with these new sealed batteries.
  3. Any source for the split switches in late models M 20. The split switch for Left landing light broke in half Please let me know a good source and how to replace etc thx
  4. Recently had the flange w hole in it -going into the transition of turbo from #4 into transition used ACORN in CN to get the part and clamps super fast service and fair prices. Also use Plane exhaust in FLL but found acorn to be very fast and knowledgable
  5. many points have been made and in my expercience is correct. The ring adapter under the spark plug is usually what makes the ships CHT reading. The 6 probes most likely go to the JPI, it could be possible but odd that the ring adapter and 5 probes go to the JPI. The other critical point is to make certain that the JPI unit is J or K. It can differ. In my case, I had a GEM/Insight when I traded up to the JPI rather then change all probes, Joe( The JP in JPI) converted it. A year ago I sent it back in after years of use for a new display, the question came up again. Personally I have great success with Alcor probes - now owned by Tempest. Lastly, a good test to start with is after it sits in your hangar overnight, turn on the master and record the readings of each 6 cylinders on JPI and analog ship guage ( may be difficult due to markings on ships guage)
  6. Hope the flight went well for you. A nicer way of breaking it in is flying to a destination, have a 4 hour flight But there is safety in staying around your airport
  7. please read Lycoming SB1427C Only use AD oil NOT mineral oil -In most folks opinion at breakin AS 100W AD is better then semi syn oil minimize ground run and taxi times, in my case each time I broke in this same engine, if at a busy towered airport, I call the tower and ask for a best time and explain what Im doing They will assist. follow 1427C, run the engine hard 34/24 BUT watch temps, they WILL be 425-430' stay slightly richer than normal cowl flaps open, stay below FL, ie below 12000 ft. shallow climbs, watch temps on JPI! Plan to have plenty of AVGAS as your burn will be more, after the initial flights as published in 1427C fly 2-3 hour flights. I was told by Lycoming to use 34/24 and every 30 min change RPM to 25 for 2-3 min then back to 34/24 watch temps.. When coming in for landing DO NOT PULL BACK throttle ( you never should do this, but esp not at breakin) Min taxi times.
  8. Nice transformation to that panel. How did you fix the trim and flap indicators?
  9. Still a high suggested list price, The GTX 345 transponder provides ADS-B In/Out capabilities and is available with and without WAAS for a list price of $5,795* and $4,995* respectively. The GTX 335 ADS-B Out transponder is available with WAAS for $3,795* and without WAAS for $2,995*. plus the install...
  10. what is happening with the MP guage? sometimes they are slow or cannot read full pressure since a speck of carbon impedes the orifice the line is on the co pilot side and enters the engine near the middle cylinder You have to remove some of the baffles then screw the hose out. You may find a speck of carbon on it. You can also disconnect hose from cockpit and try to blow out the line while you have the other end of hose removed from engine.
  11. Recently installed on a Lycoming, the Sky Tec 149 NL EC super heavy duty extended cranking starter. Wanted to post this on Bravo site. Sorry for duplicate blog... What a huge difference this starter makes over the lighter weight Sky Tec starter! It is slightly longer and slightly heavier. You will feel and hear the difference on your starts. The Sky Tec team really produced a great product. It really cranks and turns faster than even the earlier Sky Tec starters!!! Highly recommend this starter.

  14. Ive had great success with the NEW Gill sealed battery, 7000 series
  15. If you want FL, use Zephry to most makes no difference since the engine will need to be shipped to most shops Daytona used to be an ok shop, things have changed there for service and yes they have an engine shop but extremely limited not a place id want an engine oh done...
  16. recently had one done quality work from Columbia Aircraft in Bloomsburg PA. very close to Lycoming in Williamsport always get new lycoming cylinder kits as Jose mentions they have been in business for over 75 yrs talk to Doug tel:570.784.3070 columbiaaircraftservices.com The shop Jose mentions will NOT do the TIO 540af1B unless things changed in the last year...
  17. Hoping to assist a friend that has a KLN 90B The data card is old. Anyone out there that updates a KLN 90 on a routine basis would you consider an update for them? Or, they could send their data card prior to your update, you update that data card and send them you recently expired data card?? location is central FL Thanks
  18. How did you polish them?
  19. I assume you have JPI or other to monitor EGT, CHT, TIT. The temps you note are common for anybody flying in the FLs above 140 I usually keep the cowl flap in trailing position, which means it is about half open. Lastly, with a 32/24 power setting what is your fuel flow and TIT??
  20. No, do not work for Gill. Just trying to be polite and inform and update folks exactly as we experience the data thus far. sorry some have preconceived notions.......
  21. Gill Batteries continue to perform extremely well These new Gills (7243-14) are far better than previous Gill Batteries
  22. Columbia Aircraft Services in Bloomsburg PA About 20 miles from Lycoming Factory Years of service and history Fair prices and quality workmanship Talk to Doug or Kelly http://www.columbiaaircraftservices.com/
  23. The 7000 series battery is a 24 month warranty Perhaps you read the incorrect info posted on Spruce website The one you quoted is for the old batteries
  24. Appreciate all the comments. No doubt the old Gill sealed Battery G243S was not very good at all. And the old wet type batteries as mentioned would last 4 yrs. These new 7000 series Gill batteries have great cranking power and a long reserve. I believe they have solved their issues and in general the Gill is less in cost than the Concorde. Lastly, I would recommend anybody replacing one battery replace both in those Mooney's that have two. The most important thing along with longevity is to be able to start up in harsh conditions, cold, hot and after prolonged non start ups.
  25. The long bodied Mooney has two batteries. In the past I have experience with both named batteries, C and G. My experience over the years has been to replace the old wet type battery every 3-4 years. Even the older sealed batteries suffered and did not perform well. The new GILL 7000 series sealed battery (7243-14 for our Mooney's) is FANTASTIC! WOW the starting power is the best ever! Truly,Hands down, no comparison. I have used the Gill 7243-14 on extreme cold days in the Rockies and hot days in the south. The cranking power is great even after prolonged time of no starts, this Gill sealed battery really performs! Another important point I have observed over the last twenty years is the customer service and responsiveness of Gill. They are timely in taking your call or getting back to you. They will assist and troubleshot with you or your mechanic. A lost art in todays commercial world. Please do not interpret this as a commercial but rather a way to assist others when they need a new battery and my experience with these new sealed batteries. For years aircraft batteries have been old technology. Our cars have far better batteries and cranking power for a fraction of the price. Gill has spent time developing, testing, and certifying the 7000 series sealed battery and it shows! Thus far the cranking power cannot be beat. I will report back on longevity. Happy Flying!
