  1. That list doesn’t mention that 96-98 J’s have the ovation style interior (overhead light switches and fiberglass side panels covered with faux leather)
  2. Added two new WA airports to landed at list. 1S2 (Darrington) and 3W5 (Concrete) near Mt. Baker
  3. @carusoamwere you affected by NE flooding? I was thinking about you watching the weather reports
  4. That’s what I did for the first 10 years at least every other annual, with an MSC annual every two or three years. After reaching retirement age (not retired yet- I have an airplane) I have let the MSC handle it for the past six annuals.
  5. Well, that makes me feel better about the first year depreciation on the $80K truck we just took delivery of after a 4 month wait from ordering
  6. So, your $75K avionics upgrade only increases the value by $20K?
  7. Rubber plug? I used one for the hole for the battery drain tube, which the Concorde doesn’t have
  8. A new client came in this week. His eyes lit up when he saw the photo of the Mooney on the wall. Turns out he worked for Mooney in the mid 60’s while in college as a pilot, training new owners as they took delivery
  9. Soft on top. Firm on bottom. I kept the factory leather covers.
  10. I bought three sheets of Conforfoam from Wicks Aircraft Supply ( soft, medium and dense) and had local upholsterer install in seat cushions
  11. The state of Washington has adopted a “tax avoidance” statute ( any transaction or arrangement through which a taxpayer “attempts to avoid Washington sales or use tax by vesting legal title or ownership of the property in another entity over which the taxpayer effectively retains control.” http://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=82.32.655 Prior to this statute I and my partners held title to an aircraft in a non-profit corporation and transferred the membership interest to avoid sales tax. I don’t think that works any longer in WA.
  12. Lopez Island for 3 mile walk to lunch ( each way). 3/10’s hour flight after a “GAMI” check flight
  13. By the way, I got to fill in three more states on my states visited graphic on the way to Oshkosh (WY, NE & KS)
  14. I didn’t notice anything until I sprayed some post flight cleaner on the wings to wipe off the bugs. Then a black tar looking mixture of cleaner and smoke particles started dripping. There weren’t many bugs. I guess they’re smart enough to not fly in the smoke.
  15. I returned from Oshkosh yesterday leaving at 8:00 am. Flew at 8,000 to Mandan Y19 (Bismarck, ND). Was in smoke from western WI on. Visibility at Y19 was 1 3/4. Had to use the GPS approach. Next stop Great Falls. Smokey all the way but visibility was good enough for visual approach. Continued to home after lunch stop at 13,000. Smoke tops varied from about 12,500 to 15,000. Smoke didn’t disappear until about 40 miles from home.
  16. Sounds much easier than crawling under the Mooney panel on your back
  17. My planned stop is Lexington, NE KLXN
  18. $200K hull, $1M smooth, USAIG $2,875 3250TT 3100 M20 You seem to be getting the going rates
  19. Camping gear is packed in the plane (rear seats removed). Just topped off both tanks. Departing Wednesday AM. Overnighting in NE. Meeting up with high school teammate for lunch in KS, then arriving. KMSN Thursday PM.
  20. I had Surefly installed on 28V system during 2020 annual at Troutdale. First flight revealed major engine stumbling every few minutes. After consulting with manufacturer Greg made some adjustment to wiring and it has worked fine since.
  21. It was years ago. I went to check out some property in an estate I was handling
  22. I received a couple of Cox powered line controlled RC planes for Christmases back in the late 50’s early 60’s. My memories are of hard to start/keep running .049 engines and flying one or two 360’s before crashing.
  23. In six years since we bought a rebuilt IO-360 the price has gone up $7,500. We also got in on a special rebuilt for price of overhauled, so $3,400 discount. $10K more today than 2015.
  24. Took a high school mate and girlfriend to visit another high school mate in Hillsboro, OR
  25. Memorable courtesy cars - Tonasket, WA
