  1. It's a young, clean shaven stinky Pants , before he wore the the same (!) pants for two weeks circumnavigating the Caribbean, wasn't it? I think it was these same pants . . . Now that he's married, though, he'll only be able to do that when she's not with him, and I don't see him making an epic journey like that alone.
  2. See? It's ready to paint and roll into your man cave!
  3. Welcome, Alex2! An M20C can be a great first plane. You already have more hours than I did when I bought mine, half to start with like you are planning. You'll love the speed and efficiency, just be prepared that you don't sit high like in the Archer. Nothing wrong with a 3-blade. I get book speed with mine . . .
  4. Scott, just do like I do and call this season "a year of rebuilding." With luck, we will get a bowl bid sometime in early December. Maybe. Give me a headsup for next year's game. I do have a spare bedroom, we're about an hour from the stadium now since I changed jobs in June.
  5. I replaced my pucks [also 6/69] and mains at annual in Dec 2013. Taxiing was a whole new experience You'll like it.
  6. The First Law of Percussive Maintenance: if it doesn't work, hit it with a hammer. If it still doesn't work, get a bigger hammer. The Second Law: it if doesn't go, force it. It if breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway. Everyone knows the First. I've seen mechanic's toolboxes at work have the Second on a sticker.
  7. Well spoken, Bob! A professional voice of reason.
  8. I would think recovery from brief cooling would be simple--don't we fly in sub freezing temps at altitude? How cold are the ailerons on jets at FL410? On the other hand, just a brief time with a torch can permanently alter the molecular structure of the aluminum, and thereby its properties (to say nothing of accidently scorching the paint or melting a hole . . . ).
  9. All three of my keys (baggage, cabin door, ignition) are about the size of a Master lock key. Sounds like the Medeco keys are bigger.
  10. Dry ice is easier to obtain, and to handle without injury, than liquid nitrogen.
  11. The shape of the back window is right for A, B and early Cs. There's a large guppy mouth at the front. Tapered wings with flat tips. Nose gear looks correct. Can't see the mains, but the one door looks good. The through-the-windshield OAT probe is in the right spot. It has the carb chin bump. I'm convinced. . . the only way to tell for sure would be to find some writing on the cowl or wingtips, or look for logos on the yokes (which aren't on mine; left has a clock, right one is missing the logo insert). Because the data plate is under the (missing) vertical tail.
  12. Happy Birthday, Anthony!! I'd put in some fun emoticons, but the new, improved MooneySpace only let's me use their very few smilies.
  13. Skipping the part if your question about the grain structure, think back to the basics: things expand as they warm, and contract as they cool. Seems that putting dry ice (much colder than water ice) will make the dent contract, and as the metal contracts the surface area reduces, drWing the dent out because a flat plane with a sudden radius has more surface area than a flat plane. It won't be possible to place the ice only on a dime-sized dent, but even a hand-sized area around the dent should suffice. but then again, this is a thought experiment conducted without ever performing or observing the actual process. Just another ME whose material science classes were a long, long time ago, but I have stayed at several Holiday Inn Expresses since then.
  14. Mines as ugly today as yesterday, the whole "Mooneyspace" banner is missing, and only the tops of the Bell and Mail icons are visible; when there's a notification, less then half of the red circle shows up. and whatever screenshot was attached above is simply several screens of blank white in my iPad.
  15. I think Bruce lists prices for each piece, allowing an upgrade over time. But on my plane, the left side panel is one really big piece; it was awkward getting out and replacing to access coax when upgrading my 430 to WAAS. I also really like the overhead panels.
  16. I thought the rivet line was behind the baggage door. This plane ends at the rear window.
  17. War Eagle! 14-3 at the half. Our defense is playing superbly!
  18. Do we have any members at the game???
  19. Yeah, the top is cut off, but the notifications are still partially visible.
  20. Looks ready for someone's man cave!
  21. Thought this would be a good game. So far, it is! Still a ways to go . . . War Eagle!
  22. I've also practiced emergency spiral descents, amazing vertical speed gear up, while staying under control and no worries about airframe damage prior to the ground. But it won't blow out the flames like a Vne descent will do. It's been a while, but I think the spiral vertical speed was greater than the straight ahead, push the yoke forward dive.
  23. My Owners Manual says, "in case of engine fire, turn cabin heater off." I'll add your steps to my own Emergency Procedures. Attached below is ALL of my Emergency section. The first two pages are the Title Page for Section V, Emergency Procedures, and a blank Log of Revisions.
  24. Why are there no Antique Helicopter Flyins?
