  1. Tough crowd!! A good deal,is when both parties are happy. Nobody cares what the peanut gallery thinks. Vote weight is apportioned per dollar spent by the voter(s).
  2. Two inch blue painter's tape works well, and is easy to remove and clean up. Just take the roll with you in case you need mid-trip repairs.
  3. I was asleep then, John, but it's a fine morning now! It's almost time for the Donut Hole! Then to start Summitting.
  4. Don't forget the National Aviation Parts Assn. stores scatter across the country!
  5. Poo should only threaten when the empty tank is a surprise. If you're planning and waiting, why the excitement and poo when it happens?
  6. Here's mine, engraved into the plastic by the Previous Owner.
  7. Then switch quickly to the other tank that you know has plenty of fuel in it. Know because you have looked inside it, not because of what the gage says . . . .
  8. You're right, I was thinking of geostationary sats . . .
  9. I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow, preflighting to go to the Summit. I'll even include the brand name. Printed markings go one direction, scribed Mooney 52-gallon tank marks go the other direction. Fuel Hawk, maybe?
  10. Woohoo!! Congratulations! It will get better. Starting with yiur first flight without that pesky-but-useful Instructor riding along for transition training . . .
  11. Cause he's just the CEO, and still has to answer to CFO 'Shel!
  12. Will be watching to see what happened next. Can't stay in the treetops forever . . . . . Hope he isn't hurt much and only shaken up!
  13. My Marine dad is more succinct. The approved MooneySpace version is: Getting old isn't for wusses.
  14. You may want some of these:
  15. Pulling the plane in & out of the hangar is my exercise routine, plus the occasional waterless wash and wax. Need to stay strong enough to move the plane as required, and flexible enough to get in and out of the cockpit. Then everything else will take care of itself. oh, get yourself one of those nice double-ratcheting screwdrivers. It really makes annual inspection time nicer! And will still wear out the grip in both hands as well as all the other moving muscles in both forearms. You won't carry anything or write much for a few days.
  16. Figured he was when he started using normal-sized font rather soon after his first post. Hope the rest clears up soon, Ross. I'm no ophthalmologist, but do have some eye experience from a previous job. A surprising degree of vision distortion is caused by how much attention you pay to it. Do try to ignore any blurry spots or halos for a couple of weeks (difficult I know).
  17. I've overflown a field hiding behind a ridge at 2000-2500 agl in a Slowhawk, pulled throttle and entered downwind. In my mighty M20-C, Approach used to keep me 4000'agl until 4nm from the field; I'd pull throttle, deviate several miles east, make a descending 540° turn then decelerate west to join downwind for 26. So yes, Mooneys do slow down. And yes, Mooneys do descend. What they do not do well is lose airspeed while descending. Kind of like my '17 Altima doesn't lose speed when I take my foot off the gas nearly as quick as my '04 Ranger does. In comparison, the car hardly slows at all . . . . Just like my Mooney hardly slows in comparison to a Cessna.
  18. The FAA doesn't pay for the satellites, nor for the receiver in my panel. Nor for the ADS-B transmitter they want us to install . . . . The non-approved, non-certified, non-installed receiver to give you the goodies they dreamed up to increase equippage rates to a visible number shows their intent--after all, the transmitter must be approved, installed and hooked up to an approved, installed WAAS GPS unit.
  19. You do realize that the primary purpose, the main intention and the whole intention behind ABS-B is to transfer the expense of keeping up radars sites, VORs, NDBs, etc., from the government's budget to ours? The "benefits" that you love so much were added as an enticement due to equippage rates so low they make last year look like a huge rush? When most everyone is using GPS and ADS-B, they won't need near as many radars, navaids, etc.
  20. Dad's two or three cardioversions were scheduled in advance, in the OR, under anesthesia. Good results, at least fifteen years ago for the first one. He's 81 now.
  21. I'm sorry! I'd rather read an encyclopedia, at least I'd probably learn a few things . . . .
  22. See all ya'll on Friday! Except those I will see on Thursday, when my PROTE experience is reserved. Probably see a bunch of them on Friday, too . . . . Looking forward to meeting my new Mooney insurance agent, and picking up some AeroShell 20W-50, too!
