  1. MOST of the show deals are available online. You could arrange someone to have the items shipped to in the US and you pick them up or have them reshipped. Some of the deals are very good. So are just OK. I bought my Miller TIG welder at SnF for a substantial discount.
  2. Yes, I was joking. And yes, I understand it could be done with an STC. Hmm, I wonder what the market would be for a 1AMU STC to put in a port to inspect cam and lifters???
  3. Riveted ones are two re-torques. Spot welded have the time limits. GAMI is working on one without restrictions.
  4. Both are correct. You have to pay for a Basic Pilot subscription. And then, your One Pack gives you the Pro level upgrade for no extra cost. IMO, they would get more people to us Pilot if they included both subscriptions in the One Pack. I prefer FF, and get the MIL version for free by being a CAP pilot.
  5. My instructor told me about him ferrying a Citabria out west. He landed in day time, got some fuel and food, and wanted to do one more leg. So he took off after dark. And had to fight himself the whole flight to not roll inverted. He had done a lot of flying over the past few years in the East. Lots of lights on the ground, not so many stars due to air pollution (years ago) and light pollution. Out West, lots of stars, not many lights on the ground. So his mind kept telling him he was upside down.
  6. Except that is inserted in a tube that goes to the place you want to see.
  7. That is what I was thinking. Hmm, drill and tap a hole to inspect and seal after.
  8. IIRC, he was adamant against LOP in the 90s when John, George, and Walt were proposing and testing it.
  9. Why did you pull cylinders? On a Continental you can pull the lifters and see the cam without pulling cylinders.
  10. Agreed, get a good CO monitor. Turbos have heat muffs. They don't have mufflers (sound).
  11. I put my G-5 to the left and just use my right hand to do altimeter adjustments. I see people putting their standby down low, and I think that can cause issues with the head tilted down in IMC.
  12. I have 750Xi, 650Xi and 345R. But I had the 650Xi already. So the delta to swap it out for a lower capability box versus keeping it was minimal.
  13. I went with low mounted control head also. Less hand movement. Also, some people have had issues with swapping com frequencies when going for the auto pilot.
  14. I set up mine so that the PFD is centered on ME when in multi screen mode (G3X with EIS strip on left). I am not centered on the yoke when flying. I need to take a picture in split screen, as the PFD moves to the left when you go to split screen
  15. If any work has been done on the mags or switch or wiring, I would check that the mags are wired to the proper switch position.
  16. Except that Lycoming has already published a Service Bulletin that doubles the oil change interval when using unleaded fuels. I think that double the oil change interval is a significant increase. And once 100LL is gone, synthetic oils will further increase oil change intervals, as they did in auto. We went from 3000 mile oil changer intervals to over 15,000 miles.
  17. Fuels ARE required to be tested to be compatible with things like seals and O-rings. And G100UL was tested against actual seals and O-rings in actual aircraft systems such a valves and selectors and fuel injection systems. And, AFAIK, there have been ZERO field reports of issues with them
  18. THIS ^^^^^^ And SDSs are written by lawyers these days.
  19. https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/product/aldrich/511218?srsltid=AfmBOooEjKYeQ-06IBqwXcccf2X_aiRUOwEAgewQLK9TXK7ii1Vuzc5T $164 per liter. Not sure how you would get G100UL without any, as the formula is not published.
  20. They do have great customer service. I called about which one I should get, and spent about an hour with clear explanations of what each one had and did not have. I ended up with a 450B and love it.
  21. Look on You Tube for some videos of Reno air racers running nitrous. Some pretty impressive engine failures.
  22. I have a 115 CF tank and use a Mountain High O2D2. With 1 - 2 people, my bottle gets filled at annual, it is not very low.
  23. I find mine easy. Take off and climb, every thing full forward. Accelerate for cruise, set 29,5 inches, 2300, 10.1 GPH, relax.
