  1. There is a nightmare thread about this type of issue...and Mooney (company) involvement at request of FAA...Cliff notes: Grounded. Unairworthy. Ask Stacey at Mooney “what he thinks”. Gonna be great...
  2. Hmmm, probably only need one kennel in back seat. It’s O.K. They’re English...
  3. Ps- Pretty please do a rotating beacon breaker cover
  4. My common mission is a two hour flight. I always replace the fuel I use AND tanker extra fuel (so I am at same level I departed). I fuel upon arrival and ALWAYS sump before I depart as well as visually confirming fuel quantity in tanks. I have sumped and found water before. I learned about the “spit” trick here on Mooneyspace as well as smell test. This “event/scenario” could happen to anyone and surely reinforces the importance of sumping and visual inspection every time. Glad it worked out with no off airport event. No doubt the FBO “running dry” gave you some “gunk”. They should remedy and make you feel confident in your planes entire fuel system. The “Nobody else complained” reply is no bueno...
  5. The original poster has spoken extensively about his conservative plans for flying and ability to take commercial...wanting to take commercial...for points maintenance. He has been very open and honest. He is not that dad that killed his kids in making a horrible decision. Not sure why you went there? J and Missile guys are happy and NOT haters. They have the plane they can afford AND the plane they want. It’s a beautiful thing.
  6. There are “good” and “bad” hijacks...That was a good one.
  7. Slow and efficient is great until you have an IO550 and then 3 more gallons an hour is like “k”...
  8. $20k annual operating for a J. Heh. NOPE.
  9. Heh. Too far pirate....
  10. Hank, You are way low on cruise speed. 175-185@13gph is what I am seeing. The added space in a Midbody is nice and is what the original poster is looking for. I loved my E. The Missile is just more. More room. More Speed. More Utility and yes More fuel burn. I have found I don’t have to burn 15gph to have very nice cruise speed in our Missile. My comparison was to give another data point to newer pre-owned Ovations. Not quite as big for room, but bigger than a short body. The smoothness of the six is a huge plus for me over the four cylinder. The nose weight is a non-issue in my experience. The price of exhaust/engine mount/prop are areas to be aware of. Maintenance and operation are important. As stated elsewhere, the “real deal” Ovation will always command more in price over a Missile as airframes are newer and they aren’t a conversion.
  11. 175-185@13 to 13.5gph
  12. 13gph. 175-185knots. 98 gallons. I like any comparison one wishes to serve up.
  13. About half what the asking price is on Controller. (For a pre-owned Ovation)
  14. Eagles are great, but at a significant price entry point vs. a Mid body Missile (that will still feel huge in comparison to a C)...1111 useful load. Just something to consider vs. a 182 or Cherokee Six SUV.
  15. The “condition” says that manual movement of trim will get it “off the stop” and electric trim can then again be used. What am I missing? P.S. why would anyone run their trim to either stop? That seems like bad airmanship to me...
  16. Guy in truck is overtaking on the right shoulder with a vehicle to the left IN THE LANE and strikes the wingtip. The truck driver is AT FAULT. Humans... Face palm. Nice job getting your plane down safely. Glad the bonehead is on video. Hope repairs are expediated and you are back in the air soon.
  17. I didn’t know what a DerEcho (pronounced daratio) was until one hit Cedar Rapids, IA on August 10th. Sustained winds over 80MPH for over 30 minutes with peak gusts of over 110mph. Needless to say our city was decimated. You hear about it on the nightly news? I bet not. I work from home and losing power for two weeks is not good. We sustained over $22k in roof/siding damage. We were lucky. Over a thousand structures were uninhabitable. Millions of acres of crops destroyed or damaged. Iowa is corn. Corn is Iowa. Derecho’s and corn stalks don’t mix. Cedar Rapids lost between 40-60% of our trees. Tree’s stacked by the street and removal are ongoing a month post storm. ALL High schools can NOT be utilized due to damage. Not looking for pity. Merely trying to communicate the extent of the damage/loss/mental anguish this has caused in lock step with a crushing sustained impact from a micro-organism... Like Blue Highway I am not in the mood for storm jokes... At least it’s overcast and raining...so we have got that going for us on ur tarped roofs.
  18. Hey Rusty, You really should invest (I just sold an edm700 for $500) in a multi probe engine monitor. The cylinder temps and egt’s And lean features are worth the price of admission. Once probes are installed you can likely reuse for a “latest and greatest” at a later date. You will NOT like flying without one once you have one. I consider them “basic” for today’s flying. I paid like $200 for a Gem 602 in my first plane. NOT a big hit for a nice chunk of info. GET ONE
  19. Ya, I’m a dummy (GNS530), but that tool (330ES for ADSB compliance/weather and traffic) I had in my shed I now just need to figure out why the Aera 660 is NOT consistently painting traffic when my iPad is...That is my co-pilot wife’s gadget to “play with” while we fly...I think I am the one that is going to need to do a little more diggin’ there though. Thanks again Lance.
  20. Ahhhhh, that makes perfect sense. We have the 330ES transponder. I didn’t think it should show, but “it did”. Can’t remember circumstances, but must of been near a larger airport. Thanks for clearing that up.
  21. We have the cable going to the GNS530, but not regularly seeing traffic shown on our GNS530. What are steps to do this? Aera is in the cradle connected directly to glarescreen mounted GDL39. Traffic ALWAYS shows up on my yoke mounted mini by Bluetooth, but the Aera and 530 don’t always show. I can’t figure out what I am not doing. Thanks for help...
  22. I bought a soft sided crate that folded fits through baggage door. Unfolded fills back seat. Young 50lb Pointer is loaded through baggage into crate and zipped in. He sleeps through flights. Older brother (5 year old 55lbs) is loaded on top of baggage in rear and lies there for flight. Big dog is loaded right before people loading. Zero issues with dogs. They are crated in vehicles. It is safer for everyone, including other motorists if dogs are restrained in vehicles. I would like to see statistics on pet related accidents while operating motor vehicles...I know little muffy would never cause me to be distracted...Whatever floats your boat. You hit me and have an unrestrained dog in your vehicle and “it” will get real...
  23. Absolutely. That’s why spending a little more (than you want) is WISE and KNOWING what you want BEFORE you obtain “it” is critical to being financially ahead. For some “spending a little more” feels like it’s NOT a viable option. It, spending more up front, is a lot smarter in the long run than a slow add/bleed to the finish line. Bonus points for getting to enjoy/have what you want up front... (Wisdom is gained often by pain and experience. I resemble THAT remark)
  24. Is that news to anyone that resting feet on rudder pedals in turbulence helps?
