  1. I will need to look in POH for any info and “it” is in the plane. There is zero discussion in the STC info about max fuel flow for Missile.
  2. Thanks for input. My A&P agrees with you. Not sure I agree with your way high fuel flow assessment. We are 26-26.5gph from 870’-1000’. I am cruise climbing at 150-160 knots (about 500fpm) and still cracking 400 cylinder temps. That is unacceptable and doesn’t reflect a high full power fuel flow. Other Missile drivers are saying 27.5 minimum and 28 better...I am just seeking information. We have gami’s...original is analog of course and is in line with edm830. Injectors pulled and cleaned 50 hours ago. Have not noticed pre lean fuel flow at 2700rpm before leaning. Egt’s were 15lop with 12.2gph
  3. Any thoughts on EGT’s in cruise? I know they are just numbers, but I would think 1400 vs. what I am seeing...
  4. Our IO-550 in our Missile is flowing 26 Gallons at Full Power on Take Off. Photos don’t show climb Cylinder Temps or EGT’s (These are cruise) and there is NOT a problem with the volts, well there is, but it is in the pin for the 830...Not an actual voltage problem...Here is question: Will One Gallon (Getting Max Fuel Flow at full take-off/climb power make a significant difference on cylinder temps. The missile is tightly cowled and has no cowl flaps so doing a cruise climb is preferred (still see 700-1000fpm), but we are seeing some temps in climb approaching and ticking above 400. EGT’s are also significantly higher than I would expect. (This is at 8500’). Sea level is 27.4gph on IO-550. We are going out of <1,000’ and seeing 26 to 26.5 max on full power fuel flow. We are running boost pump in climb and still seeing elevated cylinder temps... Appreciate input.
  5. Welcome. I hope your pre-buy goes well. I have an 80/81 also. I would have to say the paint on your plane is a scheme that I REALLY like a lot. You are going to have a lot of fun getting your IFR in that bird. Enjoy!
  6. Looks really nice, but I will just put a coat over ours with a crack when you walk by
  7. Winning ‘em one convert at a time... Priceless
  8. My wife and I share the same magic carpet time machine to travel with Mooney. Must have mission...and we do. Neither of us just punch holes in sky as a hobby.
  9. I gave a data point not advise and stating that my personal experience, that worked out fantastic, is/was advise is wrong. Sometimes when something is extremely important to you ya need to go ALL IN. By doing so you communicate where you stand. You let somebody that hopefully loves you and wants you to be happy, clearly know where you stand. Obviously this is not something I would recommend to anyone because ultimatums can result in the other choosing the highway vs my way. I hope it works out for you. It did for me and “WE” could not be happier with the decision now made a decade and a half ago. When plane is sold the proceeds are hers. Debt paid. Commitment rewarded...
  10. Elliott not you
  11. Not buying what you are selling Mike.
  12. I feel a little bad because my mini me 27 year old engineer son is “into” cars and will be alive for the “reset”...At least he can wail on my GTS on the way to the glue factory... I mean self driving dealership. F progress if synchronicity wins WE lose...
  13. Thanks. She completes me. I am indeed a lucky man.
  14. I feel for you. Her “problem” has become your problem. No easy answers...Only ultimatum I gave my wife of 36 years was “I am buying an airplane, you can get on board or do what you need to do “. We are still together and enjoying a stay at family cottages that were 1.8 hours by Mooney and 6.5 by car....As previously stated she HATED flying and has long since “gotten on board” Life is short. Fly fast. Fly Mooney
  15. Yes to name of thread. So are wingtip lenses. Fuel tanks are labor intensive and require specialized processes and chemicals. If the process fails you have leaking fuel that is flammable. Wingtip lenses don’t have any of this...Ridiculous.
  16. We are replacing jobs with automation like crazy, but we still issue licenses with no (autos) and minimal (aviation) reassessments on ability to pilot aircraft. Actuarial data says increased risk with age so increased premium. That seems reasonable to me. Medical disqualification also seems reasonable. Data is data -a- and they definitely look at liklihood of a 40 year old having a coronary infarction. Getting old is a bummer, but “it” happens to us all. Better have population control if we are going to live healthy active piloting lives infinity ...
  17. Have you guys ever driven with an octogenarian or nonagenarian? I have. Actuarial data for teenagers and seniors is real...We have not yet defeated the insidious impact of aging on sight, mental acuity and fine motor skills. Data is data...
  18. Saved ya $50. Still ridiculous...
  19. I am a twenty year owner. Eyes wide open. Calling out shenanigans squared when I see them. It is a simple lens. No electronics. No special engineering. Just a mark up to stupidtown....I see rationalizing when outrage or righteous indignation seems not only appropriate, but warranted...
  20. So >$3.5 bilks for pos part...sweet
  21. I disagree. There are companies that make acrylic parts and charging over $100 for a simple plastic part is obscene. It is wrong on every level. I am all about making a reasonable profit, but this is W.R.O.N.G!
  22. I think I have my thermo former from when I was a kid...THAT or gorilla tape. It is a small part people. Judas Priest...
  23. #ripoff. #inflated. #what is a reasonable profit?
