  2. My poor little "D" feels so left out..... Mark
  3. I talked to my fsdo briefly about the primary category and he said " huh? Never heard of it. I will look into it" I am seriously thinking about it. Mark

  6. Please add me to the map. Thanks Mark
  7. I work for a busy flight school with 25 aircraft. We use tempest oil filters on all of the aircraft. I personally don't like them but the parts guy likes them because they are cheap so we use them. When installing you must use a torque wrench. If you don't you will be saying bad words when it comes time to change them. It is surprising how little 18 ft lbs of torque is. If you do it by feel you will over torque it every time. Mark
  8. It is behind the panel on the solid part of the throttle cable where it transitions to the cable part. It might take a mirror to see it. Sounds like it is sticking. Mark
  9. Kind of a related topic... What is the difference in fuel burn between the o-360 and IO-360 for same MAP and RPM? Say 25-25. Mark
  10. I was just up there a couple weeks ago. Flew in to get my IA card. Mark
  11. Short answer is "it depends" It depends on altitude, outside air temp, mixture, and egt. As long as it works I would not worry about it. Mark
  12. I guess they cannot just announce their intentions and go with it....
  13. imagine what that airbus was drinking at 10k... Mark
  14. Dang... I live in a worse place then that.... I can see why some folks build shacks inside them. Mark
  15. Be very careful with hoppes it will dissolve brass and tin. The bushings might not be there when you are done. Mark
  16. Dang I was going to complain about $80 a month.... I will shut up... Mark
  17. Where abouts in Illinois? I am near centralia il now. Mark
  18. I would guess the mechanical fuel pump is on the way out. Might want to give it a look before you find out that it is not working at all about 100 ft off the ground just after take off. Mark
  19. My D was so far forward that with full flaps and just me and low fuel I ran out of pitch trim on final. I took care of that by relocating the battery behind the baggage compartment. I think when they got rid of all of the heavy radio power supplies it made quite a difference on the cg. Mark
  20. Just to clarify... The ring is mounted on the prop spinner backing plate and there is a brush assembly on the front of the engine. Any engine with counterweights will have a number in the 4th position of the engine number suffix. The number will denote the type of counterweight. They will be different for different props. Mark
  21. If your aircraft came with a cigarette lighter from the factory like mine did, simply plug one of the usb chargers from dollar general that cost 5.99 into it. If it bothers your radios then try a different brand. I use one all the time to power my tablet and phone. It is perfectly legal if it is not permanently installed. Mark
  22. Looks too small for alternator or starter. Perhaps intake tube? Mark
  23. At first glance I would agree with you but consider this: When I started to learn to fly a Cessna 150 cost $11 an hour. Seems cheap? well I made .95 an hour. It took about 12 hours for me to pay for an hour of flight time plus about $5 an hour for instructor. Now it costs about $120 an hour for the same Cessna 150. I make a bit over $30 an hour. 4 hours for the same hour of flight time. Not really as expensive. Even at minimum wage it is roughly the same cost. Mark
  24. The company I work for has 29 aircraft and we use Aeroshell 15w50 in everything. Before we ran phillips xc in the twins with the Lycoming additive. They also ran 80 in winter ane 100 in summer. Now with just one oil in everything all the time it simplifies the whole thing and we don't have to buy the $45 bottles of additive. I have always run Aeroshell 15w50 in my C and never regretted it. I don't really keep track of how much it uses but I doubt it is more then a couple qts between oil changes. I change oil at 25 hours though because I don't have an oil filter Just a screen. Mark
  25. I use a Concorde RG-35AXC Have not had any problems with it. Going on 3 years now. Mark
