  1. Great looking Mooney. I think we have 5 on the field now and several owners are on Mooneyspace.
  2. Shannon, hanger 34, red and white 7104V
  3. Congratulations on the new TBM! I love it, fly safe and enjoy!
  4. DA was 4,600, runway length 5,000' and the suggestion to lean 10% came from a pilot sitting in the FBO. To be honest, the high DA for my afternoon takeoff snuck up on me. It started out as a cool day and I was expecting a DA in the 3,500' range requiring only minimal leaning. I have a 1974 Mooney 20C with a power quadrant and leaned my mixture back about 1" which is about 10% of my mixture cable travel range. Since I plan to use 2G4 regularly, I plan to get up with an instructor soon and review proper leaning. I am a 200 hour pilot with 100 in Mooney and as you might guess from my screen name left flying for a long time and came back 2 years ago. Now one more dumb question, "what is the red box?" I don't have an engine monitor and see only 2 cylinder for CHT and have a single EGT gauge I use for leaning in cruise. The tips on here have been helpful. I went back and reviewed my POH again it seems I was getting a book value ground role and climb rate (just lucky this time, I want to be smarter next time).
  5. I apologize for asking a question that I am sure has been asked and answered elsewhere on Mooneyspace, but I was unable to find a thread addressing it. Yesterday I flew in and out of Garrett County Airport 2G4 about 3,000' field elevation with a 5,000' runway. No issues, but a long takeoff role for my afternoon flight with 4,600DA. My climb performance was great and I leaned about 10% for takeoff. My question is what tips for leaning for best power should I be using? I flew about 400lbs. below max gross.
  6. The good news is the spelling error has been corrected on their website. It shows they are paying attention of Mooneyspace.
  7. I love the Lancair and very impressive cruise speed! Quick question regarding fuel burn- how much jet A per hour? This would get me from Fredericksburg to the FL Keys quickly.
  8. I agree it is a tough spot to be in. I introduced my wife to flying a couple of years ago and she is now taking lessons. She still prefers maintenance and cleaning days to flying, but I try to keep her interested by picking destinations and activities that are exciting for her. Someone mentioned it previously, but always have her in the front seat. The back seat offers limited visibility. Fly in good weather only and tout the safety benefits of our Mooneys - glide without power, steel roll cage etc. Good luck
  9. They all look good, but 5-2 is my favorite. I love the tail
  10. Keystone Instruments rebuilds them with a quick turnaround. I am sending one off now. Sometimes they leak from the middle area and not just the gasket.
  11. I have a 1974 Mooney 20C with electric gear, so I posted this in Modern Mooney section hoping for more response since most vintage Mooney's have the Johnson bar. During my annual inspection on the gear swing we noticed a couple of working rivets. They appear to have been previously replaced and wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and if upsizing and replacing the rivets along with monitoring the best course of action. Thanks in advance.
  12. Congratulations! Great looking plane, enjoy
  13. I am having some trouble getting a local AME for my 3rd class medical. Mine is due in September, but my local AME is not doing them during COVID. I am in Fredericksburg, VA. Is anyone else having this problem? Also, does anyone expect FAA to relax the 2 year requirement again and how does this impact our insurance?
  14. Me either and none taken. I was not volunteering. I just happen to keep my Mooney in Fredericksburg. I plan on keeping the Rusty Pilot name, but I have been flying regularly again since the purchase of my 1974 C a couple of years ago. I was fortunate to get some great transition training and attend the MAPA program.
  15. Good looking 201. I am not sure about the tail number
  16. Where is it located in VA?
  17. It looks like someone got a sweet deal to me. Nice looking E
  18. Looks like a nice one! Good luck with prebuy inspection
  19. Is that an English Cream Golden Retriever? We have two, but have not taken them up yet.
  20. I have a 1974 Mooney C and I am considering installing the 201 windshield. My only concern is access to avionic panel. How is access provided with the new windshield and how hard is it to install new avionics or troubleshoot an issue with existing avionics? Thanks.
  21. Did you make any changes to your annunciator panel? I could use some parts from that if they match my 1974C.
  22. I am also not in SC, but I share your height and weight and fly a 1974C out of Fredericksburg, VA. I even have the occasional back trouble. You should have someone show you the proper technique for getting in and out of a Mooney, but it is a none issue. I love the speed, efficiency and low maintenance of the plane. The Lycoming 0360 starts easily even when hot.
  23. Bob, I love your cowl. Is that an available speed mod with STC or custom?
