  1. Well done! I am glad you and your family are all safe. It must have been scary especially in IMC.
  2. Your place looks great enjoy! Is it too dry out there to convert dirt runway to grass field?
  3. A Mooney C is a great choice. I found mine 5 years ago for under your budget, but did add some avionic upgrades and new interior so now I am in for just over your budget.
  4. My prayers go out to the families and friends of the pilots that lost their lives. I am glad you family is ok. As much as we love our Mooney's they can always be replaced.
  5. Mine was called "Freedom" when we bought her so we kept it. I did name my golden retriever Ranger.
  6. Congratulations! Beautiful J
  7. I have a 1974 C model. My alternate static source is under the panel on the pilot side with a valve. It is best to look for it on the ground and feel for it in the air.
  8. I had a recent epiphany. I had been taking my oil samples for analysis wrong. Instead of capturing my oil sample from the middle of my drain, I had been taking it from the beginning, resulting in a higher indication of metals. Since correcting my procedure my 1,300 hour engine is behaving much better. I am sharing in the hope of helping others avoid my error.
  9. Jimmy Garrison put together a great Mooney Value guide. I suggest referring to it. He has pluses and minuses for condition and avionics. I suspect you are looking at a little over $100K in market value. Good luck with sale.
  10. I like my paint scheme. My plane was painted in 2008 and still looks pretty good. I have owned it for 5 years, so it came this way.
  11. ,I was able to buy a used set and have them leather wrapped. They look great. Good luck finding a set. Try Alan Fox and Smokey Mountain Aeroplanes.
  12. Quality transition training in a Mooney is critical. Also, please consider the MAPA Safety Training which provides flight review, educational information and a chance to meet fellow Mooney owners.
  13. I was looking for some Mooney sportwear and went to the Mooney website. It appears the apparel shop is now closed. Does anyone know if this is temporary or permanent? They carried some nice items at very fair prices.
  14. Nice piloting. Glad to see no injuries or damage to the plane. This confirms there are some real pilots flying Cirus aircraft.
  15. Yes, mine are slightly brighter, but very difficult to read the text on mine.
  16. The old annunciator panel in my 1974 C is dim and hard to read. Does anyone know of a good solution for brighter more clear annunciator lights?
  17. Thanks, I do have the alternate static valve under panel
  18. I am not sure if I am able to get all of the water out of my static lines with the drain on the bottom. Today I had ice in the system and lost altimeter and airspeed indicator. I found it during takeoff when airspeed didn't go live and aborted takeoff. Any simple tricks to get the moisture out of the system once it thaws? Also, how accurate is alternate static source under the panel? TIA
  19. Thanks, great input. I have not had any previous issues and like i said in my post my friend flies a Bo V-tail so he may have an issue we don't have in a our Mooney's.
  20. I do love an A36, but my wife and I fit very well in our Mooney
  21. I operate mostly out of KEZF Fredericksburg, VA with a 1974 Mooney 20C. We get some winter weather, but not like further north or Canada. I have a tanis heater, but do I need to consider a winter kit for extreme cold weather operation? This was recommended by one of my Bonanza friends to keep the oil temperature up near 180. I don't have any starting issues and my plane is hangar kept. TIA.
  22. I love the panel. I hope you are adding some leather wrapped 201 yokes.
  23. Do you fly out of Greeneville, TN? We used to live there
  24. You will not regret buying a late model Mooney C. I have a 1974 with electric gear. A lot of plane for the money. You will love the speed especially in a headwind.
  25. Byron does the add on get you over 64 gallon capacity? How do you like the bladders versus reseal?
