Well you did publicly post your intentions on the Internet, so...

If I recall correctly, you have the sequence backwards. They’d already decided to have a parachute to begin with and rather than undergo costly spin training, they convinced the FAA that spin testing would not be necessary thanks to the parachute.

They should have one "Featured Vintage" on display every year to show what's possible in the older models. Partner with Garmin, or Dynon, or Aspen, or whoever, to feature the best installations. Start with @Bob_Belville!

Kinda defeats the whole point of having a tent though, no? If you're not going to have anyone knowledgeable enough on the product to engage potential buyers, you can still project the image of a compelling product with your display models and go for a halo effect with downmarket buyers. A little passion for the brand goes a long way. Greet visitors with enthusiasm, act like you're happy to see them. If staffing is an issue they could partner with other organizations to fill the need for volunteers. For example, I know plenty of 99s who fly Mooneys and know a ton about them. There are other groups that would work too. Have a nationwide essay contest for student/new pilots and pay for people's trips to Oshkosh to staff the booth. I bet you'd end up with some passionate advocates for the brand that way. Not everyone is going to be able to talk details of flying them, but that wasn't being done anyway. Inspire interest in pilots who may not be able to afford an Acclaim but might think enough of it to pull the trigger on a well-sorted C or E instead of that Arrow or 182 they've been thinking about. And at least have a well-stocked merch table and promotional giveaways to spread brand awareness. Anyone can sell merch. And I didn't attend KOSH so I'm only going off the reports from people saying the energy level was flat.

2 Mooneys Touch Mid-Air Inbound to OSH?
ZuluZulu replied to mooneyflyer's topic in General Mooney Talk
I can understand why those of you who "know" are choosing not to say what you know, but I humbly suggest it only fuels speculation to announce that you know but won't be sharing further. It's human nature to keep pushing and speculating until the secret finally comes out. -
2018 F23 (M240i convertible) here! The 2-series is excellent. I've owned two of them so far.

Upgrades to the panel - best bang for the $$$$

Are they TSO'd? -

Just curious: do you refill it in place, or do you remove it for refills? -
If anyone passes the Lightspeed booth, I'd love to know if they're working on a replacement for the PFX or if the Zulu.3 will remain the top of the line.
-
That would be WingSwap.

I remember drooling at these photos on the (short-lived) listing, congratulations! And that's no ordinary J -- it's an Allegro, the best of the breed!

Exactly: it was a rental, with unlocked doors 24/7, and I thought I might never get my stuff back if I didn't go grab it!

At midnight? Yes. During the day, in LA traffic? Not quite. It's taken me 45 minutes to travel the last mile to the airport on more than one occasion!
-
I went for a day flight. That night, after looking everywhere in my home, I realized I'd left my iPad in the plane. At midnight I drove 20 minutes to the airport, hunted for the iPad with the flashlight, found it under a seat, grabbed it, and drove the 20 minutes back. Back at home I got ready for bed but realized not only had I left my iPad in the plane, I'd also left my Stratus 2 in the plane. So at 1:15 AM I drove the 20 minutes back to the airport, again, hunted for it with the flashlight, found it, and drove back home... again. So from 12:00 AM to 2:00 AM, that's two separate trips to pick up things I forgot. The worst part? The Stratus 2 was still suction-cupped to the window, staring me right in the face the whole time.

You mean the "ground-adjustable speed brake"?

Awesome itinerary. Looks like you're staying north, but if you venture closer to LA, Big Bear (L35) is always worth a visit. Looking slightly farther north, but still south of your planned route, I haven't been to Kern Valley (L05) yet but it's on my list.

Altitude bust - my NASA report from today
ZuluZulu replied to DXB's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
And I would love to know more about whoever writes those summaries. I've been reading the ones from my home airport and sometimes the authors can't resist a little editorial comment: I feel the problem started on the ground when I advised him that we were not cleared on to the runway and that may have been a bit of confusion on our part, but it was better than taking the runway without the clearance. Then when he was trying to input the fix on the FMS and started the over banking situation that added to the confusion. All of these things were a chain of events that was heading us for a disaster, but after we finally leveled at 9,000 the Captain was able to regain his thoughts and the remainder of the flight was uneventful. I have been flying with this Captain for the past 4.5 years and normally we hand fly the aircraft though 10,000 FT and he always wants to input the FMS fixes himself and, with the Pro-Line 21 in our aircraft if one person starts the input he has to finish it or the other FMS will not take the information. So the pilot not flying will sit in the right seat and select the communication from the Number 2 FMS and Number 1 is doing the navigating. Even when I am in the left seat this Captain will input the navigation from the right side FMS. This adds a lot to my workload trying to figure out what he is doing at the same time as what I am doing. This Captain comes from a military background in single seat fighters and sometimes I feel that he takes offense to being corrected on things. I have often heard him comment on how smooth he is at the controls and landing as if he is wanting to berate me and give me a feeling of not being as good a pilot as he is. As I have pointed out to him before this is a crew airplane and we need to act as a crew. But the comment he continues to make is that he is PIC and anything that happens is on him. Synopsis A CL30 First Officer used the occasion of an altitude deviation by his Captain to vent his frustrations with the Captain's shortcomings over a period of years during which they had worked together. -
“Canine sex in vicinity of airport at all times, ctc UNICOM for removal.” This is why you check the A/FD!

Hey now wait just a minute! Are you sure about that? Jobs’ Apple did much to improve the state of video playback on the Web. Apple and iPhone OS/iOS almost single-handedly killed Flash video, and good riddance because Flash video was a turd. Jobs made his preference for an open and cross-compatible Web, of which flexible video playback was a major part, quite clear. And he didn’t care much for DRM, even though he had to use it in iTunes for content and licensing reasons (but famously killed iTunes Music Store DRM on songs as soon as he could). Video playback on web sites would likely have remained a complete mess for much longer had it not been for Mobile Safari’s early adoption of HTML5 and promotion of the H.264 mp4 codec. Not to mention it being vastly superior in performance and interoperability. Was he perfect? No. Was H.264 patent-encumbered and thus not an ideal choice for a truly open Web? Yup. Were Apple’s hardware and operating software extremely closed and proprietary? Oh absolutely. But Jobs would have been far more likely to complain about video inflexibility than to embrace it, and he should at least get some credit for that.

After listening to the tape and watching the video, I was surprised the tower controller went along with the Cirrus basically appointing himself protector of the realm.

No shame from me -- I buy most of my Apple gear at Best Buy. It's the same warranty, and unlike Apple, they're willing to negotiate and price-match. I've gotten some great deals there.

That could have been done from the ground with a handheld radio.
