  1. The CAP airplane we fly has a ridiculous contraption that jams between yokes and blocks the radio stack. It’s a major pain in the ass to fool with
  2. I am with you. Also have had relatively limited oil consumption thus far. “They” say the CHT’s will drop off as well, which is another sign to look for that indicates good news.
  3. Although I haven’t tried opening it in the plane, I bought one of these for travel. Takes up little space, light, loads in the plane easily (folded up). Since it collapses you could feed it through the door and past the chairs, and pop it open in the backseat. May not be ideal to get the small one just for the pickup flight, though. I think the easiest thing, would be take a passenger that can just hold them in a towel on their lap in case it throws up.
  4. You need new friends. welcome
  5. Meteor crater near Winslow AZ Sedona i did SSI- ATL- Ada OK- Albuquerque - Sedona - Victorville - San Diego on the way out, then flew the southern border, San Diego - El Paso - Dallas - ATL on the way back. I used oxygen on the way back, seemed to help a lot with fatigue on the long legs/ long flying days.
  6. I think the likely answer is TEL
  7. Not what I had in mind for a test cell, but I guess it does the trick!! Do they change oil and filter after the run/before shipping or does it stay with it for a bit longer?
  8. Really hard or impossible to pull the Mount bolts without denting up the foot well boxes with your wrench. Mine were pristine until clowns not to be mentioned decided it “wasn’t that big of a deal”. @M20Doc pulls all of his by removing the engine cradle from firewall first. Top notch way to do it if you ask me. However, if your door wells have already been compromised, and many have, I don’t guess it makes much difference how you do it.
  9. You’ve clearly been paying attention, posting pictures of both the bird and the panel.
  10. He really needs to parenthesis his name “Geebee (not guy)”. I would.
  11. The fact that all you get with a new autopilot is a paper manual is a shame in 2022. Same goes for navigators, MFD’s etc. There is a market for third parties to create training material on these products and that is a travesty if you ask me. It should be mandatory for MFGs to offer a modern full spectrum online training platform of sorts for anything certified avionics.
  12. That isn’t Guy. FYI
  13. Same weekend as the MAPA ppp in Oshkosh. Hmmm
  14. Short take: if you are basing which plane you buy primarily on the mechanism for which the gear is raised and lowered, you are focused on the wrong thing. They are both fully capable of doing their job of raising and lowering the wheels. Find the best bird you can possibly find for your budget and accept whichever gear actuating mechanism it comes with. Sure, the manual system is “neat” and “less prone to failure” etc. but there’s a reason no manufacturers are making new planes with them.
  15. Since we are on topic of Louisville, I am coming up for the derby. First time. Any tips? will probably fly my airplane into kjvy wx permitting and such.
  16. It’s been tested at various mixture amounts with no signs of trouble
  17. For the nay sayers, I’ve had certain segments I’ve not been wild about, but for what they do- it’s about all we’ve got and we owe the nominal fee it costs to protect what we couldn’t live without. Aviation is an easy target, we need all the guns we can put our hands on - even if it ain’t perfect.
  18. Any insight on this matter for someone like myself, who had an affected unit, but sent it in for exchange previous to the SB? What are the chances Garmin reimburses those costs?
  19. I mean no disrespectwhatsoever, but what is “the mooney table” and who are you?
  20. Probably jack screws at some point in the near future, if not already.
  21. I dont know if there’s any new news on this but Elon has been quoted in the past saying although he would like to do aircraft, “his brain might explode”. Rocket company and car company simultaneously is already a freakish anomaly.
  22. Keep in mind, if the lifter face has corrosion and has already started eating the cam lobe, the hardened surface of the cam has been removed and is only running on a softer “core” of the cam lobe. I have no clue how much it affects the relative life of the lobe, but I’m sure it’s a variance greater than zero. Just something to consider if you are assuming a fresh lifter would completely eliminate any heartache down the road.
  23. No rumors, no excitement, no suitors, no words, no nothing. Biz quest is our only source for information unless you work for Jonny Ventures and sit in on the board meetings.
