  1. I was told around $300 per side , so $600 for a pair.
  2. Contacted Mooney, and they have one side in stock the other will need to be produced with a lead time of a month. If all this works out its nice to see Mooney going the distance to keep our parts supplied.
  3. At this years annual i have decided to look for a set ot replacement pilot side seat rails due to wear and plan to replace them next annual. Does anyone know where i may locate a set of these before i try and contact the factory? Thanks in advance!
  4. I have a Kelly Aerospace starter from a M20J listed if anyone needs one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261097324110?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  5. Kick ass! We were at KSFM twice over the weekend, a great weekend to be flying in new england!
  6. The 696 is there as just a backup peice of equiptment, however it is auto filled by my 530. Ands its view is actually quite well and within easy reach for me. Overlayed low ifr routes is nice to view. Having it provides just another part of the scan to see if altitude, heading all all in check along with our primary instuments. As far as viewing approaches when in actual, I never use it. Only the 530 and a chart or ipad. I hope most pilots feel this way about adding this to the panel. It is a nice peice of backup and a refrence tool only. Learn to use it and it will be a great refrence tool and backup if a 530 failure occurs in vfr only . This location in a 201 panel for a 696/796 is actually very nice and not bad to reach and view. Be carefull if adding the angle adaptor, it really is not needed, and will block the view of the tach, or any instruments located to the right of the install.
  7. The transponder would need to be moved to your center stack. Elminating something oudated in the center stack as suggested by scott would be a good choice. You have room for the 696/796 , and below on either side of the yoke , as shown in my photo. Once your transponder is in the center stack, you will wish you did that earlier ! Good luck in whatever you choose for your upgrade.
  8. Here is a photo, The 696 fits great there. You will be very pleased in that location.
  9. One of the airports i visit often has a mandatory tipping feature. They now charge a $10.00 service fee if you visit without taking service. They also just doubled parking fees to $780.00 for annual parking for a vechile. And they bought out Atlantic Aviation FBO and closed the facility and are now the only FBO on the field. To get acess to your vechile you must ask for a ride up to the old Atlantic facility a 1/2 mile away , and ask for a ride back. This is a locally owned FBO that purchaced a national chain FBO and then began to charge at will. 5 other local pilots including myself had vechiles parked at the former Atlantic Aviation facility since 2003, we were never charged a $10.00 fee and parking was $365.00 per year. I know fees are showing up everywhere, But this just discouraged a lot of pilots who love to visit this area. So if you stop at KBTV and just say hi, have your $10.00 tip/service fee ready. Out of curiosity is this common where some of you visit?
  10. Well, Just had to vent. Last year Burlington KBTV lost Atlantic Aviation FBO. It was bought out by Heritage FBO a locally owned FBO. Story sounds good so far right ?, A locally owned company buys a large chain FBO. Now the story beigins. For the past 5 years a bunch of local pilots including myself had parked our cars at the former Atlantic FBO there were never charged a (convience fee) and parking was avalible at the large parking lot right in front of the facility. The fee was $365.00 anually to park a car. All of us agree Atlantic was a great facility and we were all treated great. Heritage FBO was a newer locally owned charter and service facility that branched into a FBO in early 2010 and purchaced Altantic in the first part of 2011. This summer (although they say in place since 2009) they began charging a convience fee of $10.00 per visit, waived of course if fuel or service was needed. And they now doubled the parking fee to $780.00. Also we must now ask to be shuttled to the parking area at the old Atlantic facility a half mile down the road to get to our cars. And ask for a ride back . A big new inconvience!, Because , they closed the old Atlantic facility. All of us agree it was a lot to see increased in such little time, so we sent a letter asking them to rethink the pricing and sent over 50 pilot and friends, wives names on a signed attachment. We just recieved a reply that told us there prices we inline with many FBOs and they said the increases and service fee was fair. A few points to make, Atlantic never had a service fee, and the parking area is a good size and not over crowded. Now that only one FBO exsists at the airport i guess its ok to increase at will. I know, as well as many of us that costs will increase. But the speed and of this FBO to impose so fast the increases has left many of us not willing to visit the airport. Are any of you seeing convience fees if you dont take service? And how is automobile parking at airports for general aviation being charged?
  11. I will be doing the 696 to 796 swap as well, Glad to see the Air gizmo dock will be in the same footprint. Iam more curious if the cords will be the same , I know the xm reciever and external GPS antenna are the same. However the optional direct power cord looks different. Currently mines wired into the 530 for data transfer and direct power. Guess we will find out ! I belive the best part of the 796 is the synthetic vison and option to zoom as well with it. The unit is a reliable and solid backup in the panel. Data transfer from the 530 is great as well.
  12. I have bought 2 planes from Matt , Including having him find and rebuild and design my current M20J, could not be more pleased, they are the best i have seen and have a great reputation.
  13. I had one, Did not like it at all, it operates on windows tablet, and i found it slow, freezing up, and errors, They did send a replacment unit, and all the same freeze ups occured. The software is great, a really nice program and features, but not reliable or fast enough for aviation use. Garmin, I pad have the market for now and are solid reliable units in the cockpit. Just my thoughts.
  14. I know the pilot, he ferried a cherokee for me, all said and done he put it down well. If you see the pictures. Sad to see one down but Reed did a great job and walked away. If anyone was faced with a forced landing this is the result to strive for.
