  1. In the US, steel cylinders have a five year hydrostatic test requirement with no life limits. I have the same tank in my K. Is Canada more restrictive?
  2. Ram has a range of overhauled new and repaired cylinders for the 550C. May have something for other variants.
  3. Number five is my hottest. Gamis, intercooler and Merlyn and GB.
  4. My 231 came out of the factory in 1980 with cg 42.68. Adding O2 moved it to 44 and with all subsequent changes never went less than 43.8 on the cg.
  5. Happened to mine last month. (GB) Worn brush was the cause.
  6. The 4140-00-19 pumps are rated at 6 amps.
  7. Ditto on LPS and working the limit switches. A recurring issue on the forum and happened to my K also. Just one panel to remove. Easy to get to.
  8. Unsafe condition on so many levels. How many other things were missed on “inspections “?
  9. The instructions say to render the threads on the rotor unusable. Maybe a call can clarify the issue. Especially since it’s not an AD.
  10. The original 79k had a single switch that turned on both lights. looks like the one on the right was added without a useful label.
  11. There should be a Flight Manual Supplement and a placard for the intercooler power setting limitations and fuel flows. Most intercoolers have a MP limit of 36” for T.O. Continental has a 20 second limit for overboost.
  12. The EI works off P leads so works with single or dual mags. No sending unit to fail. Also alerts if one mag doesn’t get grounded during mag checks. Confirmation of Bendix mag switch function.
  13. These are great stand alones.
  14. Is there a specific issue with one or more cylinders that prompted the question? Both Continental and Mike offer sound, specific, reasonable procedures to deal with a variety of cylinder issues short of removal.
  15. Also, many of us have had multiple models over time, so limiting queries to current turbo guys might limit the collective knowledge base.
  16. Mine starts easier after the primer system removal. Hot start for mine : Throttle closed, mixture cut-off, three seconds of fuel pump on, fuel pump off, mixture rich and starts immediately.
  17. I’ve had Mooneys for twenty years. An E, a C and currently a K. Never had an issue finding parts.
  18. A legal installation will include an update of the limitations section of the POH For Airflow Systems max continuous MAP is 37”. Adhering to max power fuel flow is also important especially on the GB engine.
  19. We used to call them “Slowtations”
  20. I get 160k at 75%, about 12.5gph tit around 1450. (GB engine) around 8000’. Never tried 100% in cruise.
  21. My issue showed no annunciations, just silence when gear selected up. LPS 1 worked for me.
  22. Had the same issue two years ago on the 79 231. Liberal spraying and working the up and down limit switches fixed it and has not recurred since. Easy to get to, easy to fix.
  23. The engine data plate is the approved data for non-experimentals.
  24. Ditto on dumping the primer solenoid. Your starts will be smoother and better. On my GB, the transducer is mounted a couple inches above the fuel pump on a 45, Away from the heat and makes a smooth transition to the flow divider without hardly any direction changes.
  25. While you have it open, might be wise to accomplish Continental Motors CSB 19-01 to remove the diverter (primer)valve. This removes a source of engine failure and at the same time improves ease and smoothness for starting both cold and hot. Phil
