  1. That is incredibly impressive work. I cant wait to see what it looks like finished. Please let me know if you decide to sell them
  2. Not sure about the RC Allen one but I added a UAvionix AV20-S in place of my clock as the third AI (useful as a tie-breaker). It was inexpensive and easy to install. It helped that I found out my clock was not legal for IFR and the AV20-S has NORSEE approval to replace a clock as it will also display HH:MM:SS.
  3. Already done in Santa Clara County. No 100LL at my airport or other county run airports. I would be thrilled to have an UL alternative. In addition to the G100UL, Swift Fuels says they will be submitting their 100UL for STC approval in Q1 2023. We currently have a Swift 94UL pump on the field but very few airplanes that can use it. There does not seem to be any FAA inspectors around checking for the Swift STC when people go for fuel.
  4. Since you mention you are adding a second G5, you will have LNAV/VNAV indications on the ADI if the HSI fails so you do have a backup for nav and glide(slope/path) info
  5. Already banned at my airport in CA for 8 months now.
  6. Smart Glide requires configuration on the GTN. I don't recall if there is any configuration on the G5.
  7. Good to know in case mine ever dies
  8. I would definitely open it up if you think it is the battery, that should be an easy fix if that is it.
  9. I still love mine, has worked great and downloading from my phone or tablet has been much more convenient that having to bring my laptop along.
  10. The pitch torque is set to 85% for the M20J
  11. No, the Insight G2 is not primary
  12. My 1980 M20J ASI had a Nulite light ring in front rather than being internally lit. Worked great. I think I have a couple laying around if you are interested.
  13. My MSC currently is charging (in round numbers) about $125 for oil and filter and about $250 for labor for most of what Clarence itemized above.
  14. Wow, I know ArtCraft does excellent work (they did a great job on mine) but that is stunning
  15. The G5 can replace the HSI but no the AI interface to the KFC-150. You can use a GI-275 for attitude and either the G5 or GI-275 for HSI.
  16. Mine is mounted to the spar cover between the rear seats. Never seems to get in the way of the rear seat passengers and I can get to it from the pilots seat without any unusual contortions. I practice taking it out of the bracket once a year to make sure I remember how.
  17. I use a medical bottle and every few years my doc gives me a prescription for O2 and the medical supply company refills the bottle for $6.
  18. It is $1245 new at spruce, $3500 is rather high https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/weldonfuelpumps.php?clickkey=9474968
  19. Do you have a 430/530 or a 650/750? The instructions for setting up connext is in each pilots guide but finding the connext menu will let you know it is installed.
  20. This sounds very much like the problem I had with my C21. I like the "crazy Ivan" terminology to describe it.
  21. I had an intermittent similar experience with the century 21 that was in my airplane when I bought it. It died soon afterwards and I replaced it. I hope you have better luck with yours but a nice GFC-500 would be a great replacement :-)
  22. Not sure of the mechanism, just what I noticed. It was the fluctuation that caused me to land early of my destination and find the noticably increased oil consumption.
  23. Maybe a broken ring? When I had a broken ring in my Lyc IO-360 I had decreasing pressure and high consumption.
  24. Which engine is this and how much is the increase in oil consumption?
  25. If it is like on my 1980 M20J, those aren't grounding posts, they are terminals for lighting. If you look under the tab you will see a hole for a light bulb for each of the gauges. If you install light bulbs, you can daisy chain wire those terminals to provide power for the bulbs.
