  1. Sounds like BS to me as well since I didn't lose ground mode after the update.
  2. Just heard from my shop this is only valid for aircraft with an approved STC by 12/28 so likely not an option for us Mooney guys unless they move quickly on it.
  3. How much are you asking for the pair?
  4. How much are you asking for them now?
  5. You may be correct but my ADS-B solution doesn't sniff the transponder output to derive the code, it gets it from the serial port of the transponder so I don't see it as a blocker.
  6. The thing is that patent does stop other ADS-B transmitters, just ones that want to reduce install costs by sniffing the xponder code. To me that is exactly the kind of thing a patent should be for as it doesn't block the market, just makes your product more attractive.
  7. Hate to disagree but according to Trek Lawler from Garmin: It is a warranty update for any GTN that is interfaced with a GTX 345 or GDL 88. if not this is purely optional and will have to pay for the labor to have it installed. the dealer will need to provide the serial number of the GTX or GDL to have the 1 hour labor claim paid. let me know if there are any other questions, _________________ Trek A. 8. Don, just curous, you say the G5 and some other stuff. What other stuff are you referring to, the Gad-29, or is there more? I now have a TXi, a G5, and the GAD-29 (don't need the B which saves a couple of hundred $$) and am anxiously waiting for the GFC-500 so I'm curious if I'm missing something. Thanks
  9. The same with mine. My shop has no trouble getting information directly from Garmin and has even included me in email threads with the Garmin support people when there is an issue (this is typically frowned on by dealer support organizations because direct contact can bypass the dealer) I've found the Garmin support people always helpful and willing to help with pre-project planning as well as post-project support.
  10. Just a quick correction, the G is included on the list of those in progress.
  11. While I'm not certain, I've heard from others on mooneyspace that certification on both a 231 and a Bravo have already started and that should cover medium and long bodies of all types.
  12. The dimensions for the GMC-507 mode controller for the GFC-500 can be found in the experimental G5 installation manual in Appendix A.
  13. I'm about to have one available in a few weeks after my avionics upgrade is complete. Let me know if you'd like it.
  14. The G5 for backup and the GFC-500 with the TXi was just what I was hoping for. Time to change my TXi standby instrument from ESI-500 to G5 for my September install.
  15. Not sure about Don but I would be thrilled if Garmin would create the interface between my soon to come G500 TXi and the GFC-500.
  16. Mine is with Aerial Avionics at RHV in San Jose. I have a call into them to verify they have sent you a PO but since I haven't heard back and haven't had a chance to follow up I'm guessing they haven't sent it to you yet. I'll try to follow up with them tomorrow.
  17. Let me know if you would like a spare Sigmatek vacuum AI with indicator I have sitting in my hangar since I recently replaced it with an electric AI so I could remove my vacuum system.
  18. Yes, I found mine hadn't sent it in yet either. I contacted them this afternoon and they will get a PO sent in.
  19. Interesting, my 55x will fly approaches fairly well. It is slow to respond to significant turbulance but it does an admirable job most of the time.
  20. We should be getting close. Barry emailed me back today and said we are close to the 15 and he would have a full count on Monday.
  21. Updating an S-Tec 55X
  22. My quote was for 25 hoursl.
  23. I just got my shop to move my commitment forward as well. I guess we are down to needing 4 more.
  24. From the G500/G600 Pilots Guide: The full-scale limits for the CDI are de ned by a GPS-derived distance when coupled to GPS. When coupled to a VOR or localizer (LOC), the CDI has the same angular limits as a mechanical CDI.
  25. Sorry, I wasn't clear, I was wondering if you can set the modes from the G500. Thanks for the great info.
