  1. Great, order just placed!
  2. I bought the Vividia 400 from McFarlane for a few dollars less than from Amazon. They advertise it as the upgraded unit and I verified it has the high resolution sensor.
  3. This is great, I've been procrastinating on purchasing but this has me ready. Can I order today on the website?
  4. It isn't too far a flight from Reno to Top Gun in Stockton, CA, they are a great MSC
  5. an AMU is an Aviation Monetary Unit or $1,000 so 25 AMUs is $25,000
  6. Paul, From what I understand Garmin had updated the GEA-110 wiring diagrams awhile ago and just got to updating the GEA-24 wiring diagrams, no idea why they changed it for one adapter but not both.
  7. Wow, really sorry to see this, I feel really bad for you, this is one of my concernes every time I park outside. I hope there isn't any problem with the insurance claim. You should probably also contact your insurance company as they can help with getting the other company to pay. 1) I would definitely be worried the gear or mounting hardware is bent from the heavy sideloading needed to move it that significantly. The track of the gear during gear cycle should be measured to see if there is any lateral displacement. All bushings and bearing should be checked and preferably replaced. 2) I would expect to see more significant cowling damage if pushing on the cowling caused significant shifting to put side load on the motor mount but I would definitely have it looked at. 3) I would be concerned the prop was pushed out of the way and might have been loaded in an unusual direction. 4) would definitely try to get the airplane to an MSC as they will (hopefully) better understand the areas to check for damage.
  8. Well hopefully that should be an easy fix and you can be working quickly
  9. I understand from my installer that there is a recent change to the wiring diagram from Garmin for the Cies to the GEA-24 that requires a chassis ground on the signal low side to ensure the probes read correctly. I don't know if this would cause the issue you are seeing but it might be worth checking to ensure your shop has the latest and greatest wiring diagram.
  10. You might check Pacific Coast Avionics, they just installed one in my M20J.
  11. Igor, If I am on an airway (based on centering the VOR) and close to the waypoint, none of my GPSs will agree with the radial so I don't think that determines which GPS is correct and which is not. (The comment about the IGRF model is that if you had an older IGRF model in the panel mount, it might tend to agree with the VOR better as it doesn't account for more recent magnetic drift.) Obviously they are different in your case and that is puzzling, I would definitely go with checkign the data log. You need to make sure that the data logging is enabled in setup and use a micro SD card (less than 8 - 32GB in size). Also, you should have reference speeds configured, it is part of the configuration steps. Good luck.
  12. Igor, not sure what you mean here, do you mean if you fly a GPS track value that matches a VOR radial value it is off? That isn't surprising given magnetic drift. Do you know if you have current IGRF model data in both your G5 and panel mount?
  13. I'm not sure, I didn't notice any significant change when I installed mine. If I get the speed correct and the flare pitch it seems to land just the same to me.
  14. I can't speak to anything but my experience but when I needed a prop replaced for my M20J about 2 years ago, the MT prop was in stock at MT in Deland, FL (as compared to 3 month delivery estimates from distributors) and both the service from MT and performance of the prop are excellent. I understand there were some problems a number of years ago but my experience is that it has performed superior in most ways compared to the Macauley it replaced.
  15. Seems not to be true for the MT 3 blade prop as it was suggested by Top Gun when I needed a new prop two years ago. Also, they put a 3 blade MT on their M20F/J.
  16. Not sure about the indexing, my AP installed it but with regard to vibration, mine is super smooth and when I went to have it dynamically balanced, the tech told me not to bother, he likely couldn't get the ips much lower.
  17. I couldn't even get Lasar to reply to my request to do the same with my plane even though they did it here. I guess there was concern that without a Lycoming based STC there would be structural data needed for the vacuum pad housing (or so I was told).
  18. There was also one done for an M20K (337 attached) but I can't find a shop around here that will take it on. I was told by my MSC (in northern CA) that the FSDO told them they will no longer handle field approvals. I was also turned down by a shop in OR. 337_BC410_Mooney_M20K_N44CG.pdf
  19. I agree I just wish there was an STC to put a standby alternator on the vacuum pad. The alternator exists and I know there is a 337 for it being installed on an M20K at Lasar but I can't get anyone interested in trying to get a field approval for my M20J.
  20. If it is the same sensor from my 1980 M20J, I just had the factory sensor removed when installing an EIS system and it was working fine previously. Let me know if you are interested, we can work a deal.
  21. Curt, I have my GFC-500 for 3 years now and about 325 hours without a single problem. I know there are many who have had servo issues but luckily mine have been rock solid. Everything else Garmin I have (which is quite alot) has also been working well with only one repair on my 10 year old GTN (a year prior to the Xi upgrade). I hope you get your issues sorted out quickly and get back to flying. Adam
  22. Craig, Thanks for all you do. This sounds like a great upgrade for us. I just donated again, well worth it.
  23. I've been considering ceramic coating but haven't found anyone nearby on the west coast. The work I've seen looks amazing.
  24. You might be referring to Scott Cutler who hit a goose in the pattern and luckily landed safely. Lots of damage to the vertical stabilizer
  25. PlaneLogiX makes it pretty easy to keep them updates. If willing, you mechanic can upload their log entries directly and digitally sign them and then use that as the source to print the label for the paper logbooks. Overall it's a great service.
