  1. I removed a functioning wing leveler 3 years ago because the trutrak was "right around the corner". Word to the wise. Don't plan for this to materialize.
  2. You sound like you're holding out hope still. Just stop it. For your own good. If it happens, it really is like winning the lottery. But don't live your life expecting that ticket to cash in.
  3. Congrats! Lovely plane!
  4. I'm somewhat of a conspiracy guy. It's fun to work up outlandish ideas and see how they hold up. So here goes one: Garmin funded King's acquisition of trutrak knowing that King would muck it up and leave their GFC 500 as the only viable option in the market place.
  5. The pre flight briefing for my test flight included:. If Im incapacitated, push the straight and level button on the autopilot, pull these two levers back, and pull this handle under whatever airspeed.
  6. Pirep on the Dynon please! I too love my 450
  7. If I could add a BRS to a Bonanza, I probably would. That would be a nice setup, IMO.
  8. I heard 400 lbs for that price range and initially was willing to wait for it.
  9. Yes, have read that and almost everything out there about the 36 Bo's. I see an increase in op ex / mx coming but not sure if it will be larger increase from the plane or my kids food intake requirements.
  10. Lovely panel!
  11. Well, all of this is for not. Under contract for a 36 beech with runout engine and crap avionics. Should end up with a new panel and 0 time engine for a fair price PPI goes this week. Here's to hoping.
  12. I've decided I'm looking for a 1979 or early 1980s A36. With an IO-550 and tip tanks, it will have max gross of 4000 lbs and should see UL around 1500. Unless my unknown future bird has TKS already when I buy it, I doubt I'll add it. I've come to agree, my family really shouldn't be in IMC, especially if ice could be an issue. Now to wait for that perfect plane.
  13. Don't worry, I'm not flying a Cirrus nor do I intend to. But an A36 looks imminent.
  14. That was the plan for the Bo upgrade and waiting for builders to get desperate too.
  15. That was the idea. But honestly we'll probably end up in a Bonanza soon and then see if a we still want a PA46 eventually. I flew with a friend today who would probably really like to have half if an M500/600. Now you have the wheels turning.
  16. We even discussed shipping our kids' bulky and heavy stuff to the FBO a couple days before we arrive. Making the Moonship work is definitely possible.
  17. It's great to be excited about buying a plane. I was just there, almost bought a Cirrus, then almost a Bonanza. But in hindsight, the emotion and excitement nearly overshadowed my logic in the process. Don't get caught up in the hustle or race to beat the other buyers. This is a seller's market and you should approach it with healthy skepticism, for your own sake.
  18. Okay, I think you're onto something!
  19. Proficiency was my concern with a twin.
  20. Know anyone who has done it? Curious how it worked out.
  21. Anyone ever kept their Mooney just as their personal plane and had a share of a larger single or twin plane - maybe cabin class? I proposed keeping our E indefinitely to my wife and suggested we could buy into a twin or larger single and use that for family trips. The E meets 80% of our missions where it's just me and maybe one other in the plane. The 2nd plane doesn't even need to be at our home field, just within an hour or so flight. Could go get it via the Mooney and return to home base to load up the family. just spitballing ideas. Do wonder if the 2nd plane would be more dangerous if I'm not routinely flying it.
  22. Hawk is booking for June last that I heard. I actually booked a December spot. Either my M20E or a new Bonanza. We'll see what I own at that time. Lol. It will be $16,500 for my M20E but said a quality job would take 3 months to complete. That's why we are doing December drop off, winter flying sucks in Ohio.
  23. Dude, congrats! Just noticed we have sequential tail numbers. We're basically brothers.
  24. We have some amazing land we're sitting on for building eventually. 11 acres nestled between a state scenic river and a 500 acre county park. The business had entered a place where we felt comfortable increasing our living expenses so we hired an architect and drew up an amazing home. The builder kept telling us, based on concept plans that we were looking at 850-900k. He turned in a bid on April for $1.3mm. We of course declined and decided to keep putting money back so that when the next correction happens we can jump in and score a deal.
