Yes, that and their 20 gals av gas and the CFI they threw at me.

Another vent on the classlessness of the Cirrus broker. She replied to my rejection that I'd need to pay ferry costs to get that plane from Mi-Oh-Mi when clearly the add says it's at her airport. I don't understand how she claims 35 unit sales a month with customer service like this. Pee on them.

I'm also digging on this one. https://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?make=BEECHCRAFT&model_group=BEECHCRAFT+36+BONANZA+SERIES&model=A36+BONANZA+36&listing_id=2387661&s-type=aircraft If it's not under contract, I'll fly from the first bo to this one on Saturday to check it out too. Having TKS already seems like the way to go. It's ready for a G3X and GFC500 when the king dies. Makes me worry though. 500 hrs on new engine but about 18 years since new. That's not much flight time on that engine. Best thing is the kid isn't due til Sept so we have some time to work this out.

Business is good. Not sure if it's that good though. One can dream.
-
Chris messaged that one to me earlier too. It's more than I'd like to spend, the engine is nearing TBO, and the autopilot is older than me. It's a great example but not for me.

I emailed the broker no thanks on that Cirrus. Going to fly down and look at this one this week. 1200 useful, supposedly $3900 buys an extra 400 useful thru osborne/now gami. Wife gave me heck about this not having tks. I told her for the money, we could add it to the bo. https://www.controller.com/listing/for-sale/203264605/1975-beechcraft-a36-bonanza-piston-single-aircraft

Thanks Eric! To add even more excitement to this whole shenanigans, my agent at BWI got back to me and said the most they can insure this year plane was $294,000. Sounds like the market is overbidding planes just like they're overbidding houses right now.
-
Thanks Dan. Yes, she told me they've been selling 35 planes a month. Do the math on that, at 4.4% their *special* copa member pricing. If not me, someone else will come thru, and probably a financing deal too so they'll likely make more if I don't buy it.

I dunno. It feels like winter today so I was in my work carhartt covered in oil and grease stains and drove a 15 year old honda civic. That and my age makes me wonder if they didn't take me seriously. I definitely don't look like the Cirrus life ads they run.

This link should take you to the photos I tried to upload. https://photos.app.goo.gl/DW4sxUfXMkTCR3GNA

I actually saw a few fiki A36s for sale recently. A buddys dad has an A36 and has offered a flight. I should take him up on that.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. That and $50 for the CFI's time really put me off in a big way. Thinking bigger picture, this is their MO. I don't want to do business with them as a maintenance company like this either, which was one of the draws to Cirrus.

Once it was up in the air and trimmed out, it really did fly well, the side stick was honestly kinda nice - not better, but not bad either - and it didn't hurt my arm injury any more than flying my E in trim. The seating position was pretty nice, the glare shield didn't seem to bother me as much in flight. It has the DFC90 digital AP and the straight and level is pretty dang cool. I've never flown an autopilot and wow, that really is pretty sweet. Didn't know what I was missing. I've just got to vent for a second. I think this is so tacky. While I'm checking out the plane with the broker's husband, he basically throws a CFI at me and says take it for an acceptance flight. They ding me for 20 gals of gas and at the end of the flight, the guy hands me his venmo info and says he'd like $50. For crying out loud. They're looking at a 4.4% brokering fee on a $330k plane and they don't include that? Maybe I'm being irrational but we provide exceptional customer service at my company and I expect the same in return. This same guy seemed to think the condition of the interior for a 16 year old plane was pretty normal. In speaking with him, I got the vibe that the solution to most problems was simply spending some money. I suppose that's how aviation works but maybe Im more CB Mooney than I realized. Im on the fence about actually accepting it after that flight.

Yes, there is a lot of plastic, IMO. The whole radio stack had a terrible fit / finish from the company who did the radios. The glare shield was busted up Crack in the attachment point for more plastic Terrible fit / finish for the trim around the fuses. Man, the head liners! Ugh And for a big name shop to have painted it 5 years back, it doesnt seem to be holding up well.

Not very impressed with the plane now that it's here at the airport for prebuy. Fit and finish of the radio job is not congruent with $330k. I'm not financing this so I've got big expectations for every dollar of mine that I'm handing over for this. Lots of little things that make me think otherwise. I've got an existing arm injury and just holding the side stick in neutral elevator position for a minute or two, my arm is killing me. They claim it will be better in flight because I'll have it in trim. We'll see. I'm a taller dude, 6'1" ish and sitting in the seat where I'm comfortable with my pedal /foot placement, I've got a glare shield and headliner in the top 35% of my sight picture. I'm thinking I'm going to reject this plane. Not sure brand C is for me

Dangit. That's a sexy plane. You've got me thinking.

AGL is at KMRN in NC

I submitted a tax exempt form with my offer, now contract. In Ohio, I had success with this tax loophole when I bought my E and am trying again on my new to me 22. To be clear, I don't see the 22 as sexy and I'll probably miss the Mooney. Im hoping the 22 is kinda like an AMG 63 SUV. Big engine at least makes it tolerable to run the family around in.

I really wanted to make an Ovation work. If we compare same vintage planes, an Ovation and SR22, it's a fair comparison. I had my docusign for the offer on the cirrus in my inbox and I called Jimmy, actually waited for him to send these images today, for a 2005 fiki Ovation that's coming for sale shortly. 1100smoh, g1000 non waas, 55x. Asking $259, plus $28amu *if* they can find a waas upgrade. When you do the math on the engine hours, paint, and avionics the cirrus comes with, I thought it penciled out in favor of the cirrus by a touch from a mathematical equation, not considering other "soft" values I referenced earlier.

My wife and I were walking the dogs this evening. I mentioned the second door and she stopped dead in her tracks and asked me if I was being for reals. She's pretty excited for that and pretty indifferent on the chute.

Thanks Wayne. With 2 car seats and all the kids junk, the romminess is appealing.
-
Thanks. Having a 440 now, I am reasonably curious how the change will be to the Garmin universe.
-
I've got to admit, that's the first paint job I've seen on a Cirrus that I've actually liked.
-
Life is full of tradeoffs. I'd like FIKI too but inadvertent icing is better than nothing, for certain. I figure if I don't like this one, I can trade out to another one relatively easily with as fluid as the market is right now.

We'll see. I'm putting in an offer on this one: https://aircraft.steelaviation.com/aircraft-single-new.cfm?aircraft=2039
