The difficult to land may be reality until you get it dialed in. Once you get it right it becomes a myth again. Pipers, Cessnas, and even a Bo is a joke to land comparatively nowadays but maybe that’s just me. Crosswinds are so easy to handle in the Mooney imop. Tailwinds not so much in the Mooney. Just my two cents.

Welcome to the Carolinas. AGL is always a top vote. Cole Aviation in Dalton Ga is a top vote around here as well. I’d say can’t go wrong with either based on experience and reputations around here.

I did the same thing five years ago! I wish we had Bluetooth now. -

Yes I have the jack and that will probably be the best option too! -

I am thinking these are the best set ups. PT20Js and the Ovation 3 that is currently for sale.. I just need a place for the JPI900. -

Hi @PT20J good information! This answers some questions for the setup I am working on. I’ll have basically the same set up as you do. Great panel! I have the 35R audio panel for the GTN750 that is not Bluetooth. My question is there a way to get Bluetooth music into this system? How is music and possibly a phone connection established? Thanks -

I really like your panel @PT20J. I am thinking that putting the JPI900 where your 275 is would work out great. -

Thank you JohnZ. I have the 10.6inch G3x and we just ordered the autopilot and servos two weeks ago. Hopefully we will be ready by February. I don't need a second G3X at all. However I see where a lot of folks including @PT20J(in the above post) use an ipad like I do. I keep mine on my lap though. Would it be prudent to mount one on the passenger side? It does seem like too many screens and too much information. The ipad may have to go but I still want to get it right. I do have to keep the G5. Apparantly since my G5 is an HSI I will not have to buy and have installed a magnetometer in the wing which is nice. Thanks again for the feedback. -
Good afternoon! It’s been a few years now and time to go back under the knife. I’m lined up to go into the shop towards the end of February. My current set up is 750/650, 345, jpi900, remote audio 35R(no Bluetooth which was a mistake), G5, Century 2b. Going in to add the GFC500 with all the servos, and add the G3x touch. We will cut a new panel and move stuff around but I haven’t thought all of this through in detail. We haven’t planned the exact location of everything either. We are discussing shifting the 750/650 stack to the left. This will free up space on the right too. I had thoughts of remote mounting the 345, and adding a usb where the 2b amplifier currently sits. I’ve also thought of economical options for an additional screen where the 345 is now, iPad mount?, Aera?, etc. I’m not fond of adding another G3x screen for the costs but who knows. The voice command on the 750 is nice but wish I had Bluetooth now and exploring options. The 35R seems better due to the voice command feature than the options for the G3x. Looking for any and all ideas including opinions and comments. I’m up for going over budget a little more if it seems worth it. Thanks

How To Install Gee-Bee Aeroproducts Baffle Seals

It’s like keeping track of aviation expenses and calculating your hourly cost to fly. It is almost a futile effort of unnecessary knowledge. Buying the Mooney factory may be the same thing. You buy it because you love it and it would be a really really expensive hobby. There may even be tax advantages of all the losses you are going to incur. It would be cool to own.

After getting almost all parameters of engine maintenance and engine management dialed in the oil in my 1978J stays very clear and starts to slightly brown by 30hours. I’ve done everything from perfecting the timing, rebuilding mags, oil cooler overhaul, plug wires, engine monitor, induction clean up, new baffling, etc. She runs too good, Knock on wood! Before all of this the plane would burn more oil and the oil would turn dark prematurely imop.

These discussions come up periodically and usually many parameters and mods are discussed. Bang for the buck 1. Proper rigging is number one to start with. 2. Rearward CG 3. A clean and waxed plane 4. Old antennae’s removed 5. Better air filter....works! And adds at least 1/2 inch of MP I can confirm 1/2 inch but seems like even more higher up. http://donaldsonaerospace-defense.com/library/files/documents/pdfs/007217.pdf 6. Make sure engine mounts are not sagging and engine is aligned properly. The above will yield collectively 5 knots and quite possibly a lot more depending on the plane and how it is set up currently. $$$Buck with some bang 1. Lopresti cowling(may not be available for the k) 2. Get the fin VOR antennae 3. Replace old reverse 7 antennae if on your plane. 4. Mount all external antennae in the wing tips. 5. power flow exhaust(not sure of the effectiveness here) 6. Fancy new prop. 7. New engine assuming the old one is not producing full power. Probably others and I can’t comment on the $$$buck with some bang part due to the economics. I wasn’t willing to commit to.

I had a leak/seep where the fuel sender on the right wing attach. One of the front access covers about 40% out from the fuselage. It was an easy and cheap fix.

Once I switched to Cole Aviation I never looked back. I feel from the folks here that AGL would be a similar choice and quality. There are 95% Mooney’s in the shop whenever I’m there. It has cost me a lot in dollars but has saved me an enormous amount of time since making the switch. I use the extra time to make the dollars. I sleep great and am much more confident about the safety and the quality of work on my aircraft.

What’s truly amazing is that the prior owners totally neglected the “good will,” of all of us Mooney owners, Mooney watchers, Mooney fans, Mooneyspace members, and frankly it seems like Mooney employees too. I’m optimistic mostly because of what I feel is an about face from the prior owner. There is an insane amount of passion amongst the Mooney community. Passion is an almost free resource produced from the respect and passion(energy)that is created when things are done “right.” We all know the Mooney story and it feels like the new owners do to. It’s the whole point of all of this. Good luck Mooney Inc. I am on the team as long as you are on the team too.

Signed up! Sounds like addressing useful load and manufacturing efficiency will indeed make for a more competitive aircraft. I’m certainly more optimistic based on what I’m seeing.
